    The old Red King is very sad, because he can’t help his friend, the Green King, who lives on the silk meadow, and the wicked witch sends her army on him by the thousands to destroy him. However, he has a heroic and handsome son, who with the help of a wonder horse and a magic sword takes off to defeat the witch - and to save the silk meadow.
    Made by the Kecskemét Film Studio.
    Directed by: Lajos Nagy
    Storyteller: Gyula Szabó
    Music: Kaláka band
    The makers used the decorative art of a certain countryside region at each episode. The trio of folk art, folk music and folk tales are masterfully combined in the episodes, which have unique imagery, sometimes spicy folk humor in the dialogues. Thanks to the natural presentation of the storytellers, and the music of the Kaláka band, the viewer can experience something unique and special.

    Very few people know that the Hungarian folk tale is not just a fairy tale. They have a very serious philosophical content. Behind the content is the zodiac chronology. In Hungarian: "Napút" (maybe Sun trip(?) in English). Every action and animal has a meaning. There is literature on this, books and lectures have been published on the subject.

  • @micanikko
    @micanikko 5 років тому +278

    I feel like the story would be like an epic if everything gets to be fleshed out.
    Example: Where did the kings get their swords? the 6 legged horse? why was the witch by herself? etc.
    Like the lore behind this could probably be a rich one!

      Yeah write some fan fiction / a more fleshed out version.
      As of for more background:
      Considering the Imagery of the cartoon, the Red King would be the Hungarian King, the King in the tent would be the Cuman King and the witches Minions the Mongols. (Historically the Mongols declared war on Hungary because the Hungarians wouldn't hand over Cuman refugees). The marriage would symbolize the integration of the Cumans into Hungarian society.

      guess her hatred was so great that she just up and disappeared once jabbed with a dagger. so far even some witches have changed their form to something good-er in the end. maybe the witch was the king's ex-queen or mother-in-law, that'd be quite something xD

    A Kingdom inside a TENT!! How can a king live in a tent and there are no servants around him and no people to rule them ?? The more suspicious thing is the Prince entering the Prince's room during the sleep of her father !! This prince does not know the assets. 😂😂😂😂

      Most arab rulers lived in (quite luxurious) tents too. Nomads usually are living that way, and hungarians, similarly to bedou and arab tribes, were nomads a few centuries back

      @@kokokokita533 I know that my friend, but I will correct you one. The Arabs lived in houses and their rulers lived in palaces after conquests and not tents. The Badia people live in the tents and were not luxurious. Thanks for trying to explain to me but I was just joking about the episode. 😊🌹

    I love the symbology but still cant correlate this magical horse- why must it be kept weak until its powers are needed? Why does it eat only embers? Why did the puli dog eat embers? And is this the same horse from the stable of the three headed dragon?

    • @gbvn1173

      The táltos is a figure in Hungarian mythology, a person with supernatural power similar to a shaman.
      The táltos horse or steed ("táltos paripa") is the mount of the táltos, and also a stock character in Hungarian folk tales. The táltos steed would typically appear at first to the protagonist (usually a peasant's son, adventuring prince, or a youngest son) disguised as an old and ugly jade. If it is treated well, it would ask the hero to feed it hot cinders, whereupon its transform into a steed with golden coat, golden saddles and five or six legs. According to some experts, the táltos horse is a symbol of the drum of the táltos. They heated it over fire (see hot cinders) to make it suitable to play and used the drum to meditate (fly away).
      Dragon: Appearing in almost all folk tales, this creature breathes flame and guards captive women and treasure, but unlike Western counterparts, it is always man-shaped, wields a weapon (often multiple), can ride a horse, and has seven heads, sometimes three, 12 or 21 (relating to numbers in astrology). Dragons usually symbolized human behaviour or character, i.e. when the hero was fighting with him, he was fighting to overcome his own bad behaviour, habit or characteristic.

    The magical horses have an unusual number of legs because these horses are special. They were made somehow. I wonder what significance the number of legs could mean.

    • @stefaniazecheru1232
      @stefaniazecheru1232 5 років тому +3

      I think the significance is that "3" was usually considered a "magic number", that's why in some stories we find "3 daughters/princesses" or "3 sons/princes" and 6 is divisor of 3, so yeaah.(basically all divisors of 3 are considered "magic numbers" in those folktales)
      Also, the hungarian folktales are very similar with the romanian ones.

  • @les907
    @les907 5 років тому +4

    I have been binge watching these and love the cliches. How do you expect to fly if your horse only has four legs? Queens are either witches who tricked the king or very beautiful maidens, usually fertile for many children. Murdering witches is a victimless crime. And kingdoms are exchanged like water. I. LOVE. THESE. STORIES!
