You can get negative defense without any sort of buff or accesory. All you have to do is get to the bottom of the abyss.
Maybe you cant kill the providence with the cold heart icicle because SHE IS LITERRALY MADE FROM LAVA

The icicle is basically a script command to find the said hit entity's max hp and deduct it from the current hp each hit.
