I'm from Genova, so I can tell you a little about the Cinque Terre. Until the end of the 90s, they were places totally out of mass tourism. Villages inhabited mostly by fishermen and farmers who lived a quiet life, producing wine, fishing, making oil to sell it to some visitors...maybe there would be some little restaurants. These were quite wild places and practically frequented only by Genoese and locals. I remember a friend of mine at the bar who spoke to my grandfather about Monterosso, we didn't even know where it was. Then they made it the park of the Cinque Terre and from that moment on, mass tourism ...You should see Nervi, Santa Margherita and Portofino too, beautiful places of Genova's riviera.
@@LisaAndJosh I've never really been used to going to those places. There are several beautiful places in Liguria both in the east and west riviera, such as: Spotorno, Noli, Albenga ... those are located beyond Savona.
Focaccia after a challenging and beautiful hike is the dream! Loved seeing the trails and your travels through the city! It’s so helpful as we plan our next trip! Looking forward to catching up on all these videos from your time in Italy🇮🇹🤩
Oh man. I wish I knew you guys were going. We were just there a week ago! We stayed in Vernazza. You literally went by our AirBnB door as you walked into the Vernazza square. The walk from Vernazza to Corniglia is by far the best. Unfortunately, you missed Corniglia altogether, which was by far our favorite town. The Foccia there was so much better too! I think I would tell anyone to stay in Vernazza or Corniglia. The crowds are amazingly bad too! It wasn’t so bad for us, but we also started walking at sun up every day.
You go to Camogli for breakfast (take the very first train) from there you take a boat to San Fruttuoso for a cultural tour, a bath, a meal and aferwards you take the fabulus 4 hours hiking path (without turists) till Portofino then take the bus (othewise by foot) if tired to Santa Margherita and stay there for the night in a hotel or take the last train back to genova. Best itinerary you can pursue.
Loved this, we did the train between each of the "Terres" which allowed us still to get LOTS of walking in, but appreciate all of the different characters of each village. I was considering going back and doing the hikes, but looking at this video, maybe not! Also, we came in for the day from Pisa so it was easy for us.
So exciting to watch this guys! I am planning to there next month and I cannot wait! I live in Tuscany so I'm less than 3 hours away from 5 Terre! Wonderful area in Italy, you you managed to capture stunning views and moments! I like your personalities as well! Brilliant! Kisses from Florence! 😍👍😯
Love the Take Out Break Outs: good to know you do the same things we do! (“Am I backlit?” Lol). P.S. love the music- some of our faves to use as well :)
Ha yeah - seems like Epidemic sounds is almost running out of music, we hear the music we use all over UA-cam by now. And thanks :) how are things going?
@@LisaAndJosh Right? We are always looking for new stuff and end up going back to the same songs. We are in Alaska and loving it! Actually headed to Europe (hopefully, pandemic and all) at the beginning of September. If we are ever near each other we should meet up!
@@LisaAndJosh oh it was great fun, of course in some places we had to park and walk, we did it sometimes in the car but it is hard to find free parking. I am really glad you liked it 😉
Hi, thanks for your helpful movie! I'm planning a 3-day trip to Florence and want to dedicate one day for either Cinque Terre or Venice. Which one would you recommend for a day trip from Florence?
OMG we were just there too lol how crazy that we have been going to the same places but off by a couple days of eachother lol. Heading back to the U.S. soon and we are trying to decide between a northern U.S. trip or coming straight back to Europe after our wedding in September. We missed Monterosso but spent some time in Vernazza. The ferry was great but so expensive (We stayed in La Spezia). One way from Vernazza to La Spezia on train was only 4 euros compared to one way on the ferry 23 euro or a day pass on the ferry is 35 euro I believe.... but of course you can't beat the view from the water. Anyways, cheers, hope your trip is going well
Thank you so much for the informative video and being natural, honest and real . I decided not to visit here, after watching all these hiking and walks...3 days visit to Florance area, this place didn't make it to my top list 😒. Thanks again!
Bravi ragazzi! Siete i numeri uno! 👏 p.s.: it”s better to go to Cinque Terre by train or even better by boat to enjoy the view of the coastline. Portovenere worth a visit too. From Genova Porto Antico you can also reach easily Portofino and San Fruttuoso by boat. Ciao! 😊
@@LisaAndJosh it's a tour operator. there are many of them at the Porto Antico :) if you visit www.golfoparadiso.it you can see all the prices and the little trips I also recommend you the whale watching one
Hi guys, great content, thanks for sharing! Can you give me an opinion? I plan to spend 2 nights and 2 full days in Cinque Terra, staying in La Spezia. Do you think it's too long? Will I get bored? Thanks
we actually wish we had spent more time in Cinque Terre and regret not staying a night or two along the trip, so we could really explore the villages. so that sounds like a great trip!
this was really informative. I, too, have had this place on my dream list for many many years, and I did know there were gonna be hoards, and I do know you went during high season, but I'm still..wondering if the crowds everywhere didn't take a little away from the beauty and from the place living up to expectations? plus I'm really curious if anyone have experience with visiting at other times of the year where there might be fewer people?
The crowds on the beach make it practically impossible to enjoy the beach, but the other places werent quite as packed, and we went at the height of tourist season! (vid is on our channel). When B went in the Italian winter, it was less busy, but also slightly-less-beautiful, hope this helps
Great video. We are hoping to head to Italy next year. I have Cinque Terre on our list to stay at least one night rather than day trip. The crowds in your video make me nervous though. Did you feel like it was tooooo touristy (we are traveling in April/May off season)? Also…are you aware this video and a couple others aren’t in your playlist. I had to search for them when I realized I was missing holes in your trip. Thanks!
That's great! We wished we had stayed a night there instead of rushing to make our way back to Genoa. We were there in July, so it was in the height of summer travel, so it was quite busy, so perhaps it'll be less busy the you get there. And thanks so much for letting us know--we had no idea! Will fix that right away :)
What station did it take you to firstly? And then is it the cinqu terre train card you need to go to monterosso station? Do you only need a train card to their and it includes the return?
