Вставка
- Опубліковано 29 тра 2024
- In this video, we hike along the stunning Cinque Terre coastline in Italy. Cinque Terre means "five lands" in Italian and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Blue Plath connects all 5 towns of Cinque Terre. On this Cinque Terre hike, you will hike through the towns of Monterosso al Mare, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola, and Riomaggiore. The hike is approximately 10 miles long from end to end and you can take the Trenitalia for the return trip.

🧭 ABOUT US
Hi! We are Helen and Tim. We are adventure travelers that have been on the road full-time since Jan. 2023. We are based in Portland, Oregon, and have been together for over 10+ years and share a love for the great outdoors through hiking, camping, skiing, and more! We grew up in Dallas, Texas (Helen) & DuBois, Pennsylvania (Tim).
Our goal is to hike the world one mountain at a time. We love to inspire people to get outdoors no matter if the adventure is big or small. Post-hike, we enjoy the local flavors and foods, and a cold drink (beer for Tim and kombucha for Helen).
There is so much in the world to see, even if it is in our own backyards. We started filming our adventures in the Pacific Northwest and that has evolved into filming our international travels.
Thanks so much for watching! We will see you on the next trail! 🥾

I was in Cinque Terre 2016. We hiked between the towns. It was beautiful. Thanks for bringing back my memories.
That's 's so awesome you got to experience it. Sure there were fewer people then. Glad this video brought back memories of Cinque Terre. Thanks for watching! Hope you subscribe 😀
Looks like an awesome hike!
Cinque Terre offered a very unique and stunning hiking experience! We were pleasantly surprised and definitely recommend it! ☀️🥾
Beautiful hike! I think if Jimmy and I ever did the hike it would take much longer bc we would stop in each town for food and drink 😂. Also love the fact that you can take the train back
I would too, but Tim likes to hike fast so I never get a minute to stop 🤣 Can I come hike with you guys?! -Helen
Thank you for the beautiful view. My husband & I planning our first trip to Italy & we definitely will include Cinque Terre in our intinary
Cinque Terre was one of our favorite stops in Italy! We preferred it over Amalfi Coast because there was more to see and do
WOW what beautiful towns (and those views are incredible 🙌🏼) I think Vernazza is our favourite. Great job , loved this vlog! 🥰
They are are really neat towns! Vernazza is definitely one of the most picturesque, but one of the smallest towns in Cinque Terre. Glad you enjoyed the video ☺️🥾
Thank you for your VDO - we were thinking about make a hike this area wow.
You’re welcome! We really enjoyed the r cinque terre hike. It was so unique and best yet, you can jump on the train anytime if you get tired or at least one way haha 😎
Thank you for sharing that hike, but after seeing you both sweat when I do get to visit I will be grateful for the train!
Gorgeous views!
You’re welcome! It was a long morning and once that sun came out, it was super hot. The train is definitely worth it and a great alternative. Have fun! When will you be visiting?
@@HelenandTimTravel I am hoping next year!
Great to hear! If you have any other questions. Feel free to reach out!
@@HelenandTimTravel Thank you!!!
Part of the trail was closed when I was there in November 2022, and at that time of year, they did not advise that you take the detour, particularly if you were hiking alone like I was. Off-season means the possibility of rain but it means significantly reduced foot traffic. I loved it!
Glad to hear you had a great experience. We loved the hike and glad we hiked it one way. Part of the trail was closed for us too so we had to divert over a mountain. Definitely made it tougher, but worth it.
nice to see somewhere i did go from another angle
That’s awesome! Cinque Terre was one of our fav areas in Italy. Did you go from Riomaggiore to Monterosso on the blue path?
I start one village before that and finish one further. So from levento to Porto venere :)
Here's my version of this path :) : ua-cam.com/video/4glcHxRvJH4/v-deo.html
Did you link your hotel? I am looking with no luck. Love the video! Great info!
Glad you enjoyed the video! Thanks for watching. Sorry we forgot to link the hotel. Highly recommend it! In a central location in Monterosso al Mare but tucked away enough it’s quiet. We booked through Booking.com: www.booking.com/Share-8ztPtj
What a lovely adventure.
(Sorry, I skimmed over the non-Italian section.)
You ask a few questions along your walk. If anyone takes time to chat to the locals, they will tell you that tourism is, in fact, thriving for the retail and hospitality sectors, but killing the rural agricultural folk.
I wonder how many of us will be contented to hike il sentiero azzurro knowing the olive groves have gone to waste. And yes, I know the hypocrisy of this statement.
I too covered the 60% of the trail that's opened during my last visit back home.
What I found most enchanting is going beyond that small part of each town where the tourists frequent and find the odd cafe way off the beaten path where you can speak to the owners and locals alike.
Thanks for the thoughtful comments. We didn’t see many locals out when we started early. We do remember seeing one farmer maybe near the end of our hike out tending to his crops on a ladder and someone was selling stuff (hopefully not mixing this up with Amalfi). That’s interesting and we want to do more research on this.
We didn’t spend a lot of time in the area, but we definitely want to be more thoughtful travelers and speak to the locals. We both are very introverted people and are trying to do this more. Thanks for the prompt ☺️ Cheers!
Great video guys! I am wondering what the name of your hotel was in Monterosso? We will be there later this year….
You’re going to love staying in Cinque Terre! Monterosso al Mare is definitely the best town to stay in because of the beach. Here is our hotel we found on booking: www.booking.com/Share-kvSfbe It was one of the more affordable places we found ☺️
Thanks so much for your expeditious reply. Really enjoyed the entire video!
You’re very welcome! Glad you enjoyed the video. Hope your trip planning goes well. Let us know if you have any other questions ☺️
If you buy the Cinque Terre Trekking Card do you need to validate the card at the start of each trail?
You usually have to validate when you start the trail but we started so early no one was at the booth. It was validated halfway through the trail. There are a few checkpoints a long the way.
Loved your video! Great tips on hiking the trails and exploring the towns - thanks!
One thing…rio does not mean river in Italian. It’s fiume. Just fyi and w all due respect!
Thanks! We learned that the name Riomaggiore got its’ name from the days when a major river ran through the village. Yes, you are right, Fiume is river in Italian 😉
@@HelenandTimTravel - that’s very interesting to know! Thanks for responding and thanks for sharing - great video!
Thanks so much for watching! Glad you enjoyed it!
*_I instead focused on seeing the luxurious facilities and services from Cathay Pacific flights_* 👣✈☕💯👍
We enjoyed our flight on Qatar airways ☺️ Probably could’ve made its’ own video on it 😅
