This tutorial is simple enough in my opinion that even if you are a beginner with electronics, you could follow this yourself.
Things needed:
Amplifier
Speakers (Subs or High Frequency Drivers)
Xbox 360 Power Brick
RCA cable
Tools:
Crimper
Crimp on terminals
Wire Stripper
Electrical Tape
Heat shrink tubing
Wiring
I am still answering questions in 2024 and beyond! I can't believe this video is 10 years old. Thanks everyone for the views, questions, and support.
dude thank you, the other tutorials were.... less clear
Glad to help!!
😂
great idea man👍did you connect the small yellow wire to the 3 bigger yellow wires
Yes
What if I have 2 yellow wires 2 black wires 1 gray wire and then blue and red? What should I do then?
I'm not sure what the grey is for. My recommendation is to tape off the grey wire and connect the others as shown. If it works you're good to leave it taped off. If not, test it with a multimeter to see what it does
What did you end up doing with the grey wire?
Judging the size of those wires I don't think it would power a very high wattage amp. It might be good for a cpl hundred watts. I wouldn't push it much more bc the wires will melt and eventually catch on fire.
Yes this is not designed to power a sundown competition setup. This is good for testing smaller amps at lower volumes. As for melting and catching fire, the bricks would go into thermal protection mode before they ever got hot enough to cause this.
How would I do this if I have the 360 slip power converter?
Im not too sure. If you cut off the end of it, and then check to see what color wires you have, they might match up to these. If not, just reconnect them and use it like you were before...
Getting ready to try doing they same just need refresher might hit you up if needed
Not sure if my powr cords the same has only 3 yellow 3 black
@@jamesmacswell9165 sounds good buddy. Still here if ya need any help. And I have had some adapters with varying numbers of yellow/black wires. As long as they all get wired together, nothing crosses, you'll be golden
Thank you thought i had lower powered one
Okay I have the amp hooked up now if I wanted to hook up my car stereo nd tweeters how do I do that without surging anything
Im a little confused on what you mean about "surging" something. This can happen one of two ways. Either there was an electrical issue in your house and there was a voltage surge, or you touch the positive and negative wires together when they are live. This can be avoided by making sure all leads are not touching one another and using basic electrical protection procedures (use electrical tape to cover leads)
To add your car stereo into the mix, attach the positive and negative power to the distributor block, adding an inline fuse on the positive wire. Then connect the turn on wire to the positive terminal as well, but include a switch (normal light switch will work). This will turn the head unit on when the power adapter is on and the switch is set to the on position. Then run an RCA cable to your amplifier and you are all set. Another solution would be to use an RCA to 3.5mm wire, which is what i use in this video. Either option will work fine for you. If you have any more questions, let me know.
How did you run your phone on this without the head unit??oh and thanks for the video I didn't know what to do with the skinny wires blue and red
Gotchya man. I used an RCA to auxiliary adapter when phones had headphone Jack's. They sell rca to Bluetooth adapters now that you could also use
Hi mate when I connect the red and blue wires the power brick goes red. Am I missing something
Can you explain exactly how many of each color wires you have? It may be a different year that your power adapter was made... If you let me know, i would be able to have a better idea.
He's using a xbox 360 slim and I'm the same issue...there's gray wire that is used for grounding...so maybe that is the problem...still trying to figure that out.
I do not have any experience diving into the slims power brick. If you post a picture somewhere and link me too it, i can try my best to help you guys out!
I just gave up and bought an old one for 8 buck and it work right away.
Glad you got it figured out man. Sorry i couldn't help out more
Which adapter did you use plz help link to me plz
Hey friend. Sorry i didnt see this comment. UA-cam sucks sometimes and doesnt notify me. I used an RCA male to 3.5mm adapter. Search amazon, should find one for just a few $$!!!!
Living For The Ice at 10:40 the sounds very low, what happened?
I did not have any speakers attached to the setup at this point. The frequency was mid-range at this point and my speakers were not tuned to this, and it did not produce a very good sound. If you watch my follow up video (link in the description), you'll hear that it sounds much better when you add in other speakers. Also, it does sound better in person, but the camera mic (iphone) is not very good and did not pick up the audio correctly as you would hear in person.
Hey I got two blocks one gray 1 Blue one red two yellows
I have this set up and it keeps cutting out on me it will work let the red light will flash once the bass hits what do you think is wrong?
Austin Conforti does the red light flash on the Xbox adapter or the subwoofer amplifier? if it's the amp, it's going into power protection mode because it's overheating, most likely due to not enough power which can damage the circuitry inside the amp. if it's on the Xbox adapter, it could be a bad connection somewhere.
to test, use a multimeter and set it to DC voltage. measure the power at your subwoofer terminals when the sub is on and playing (even if the light starts blinking) let me know what you get from this and we can go from there.
Not enough power
You should fuse the remote wire with a small or 1a fuse!
Why
Ehhhhhhh, I mean I guess? But you'll trip your circuit before these ever have a chance to cause damage.
Hey first off I know little about this stuff so keep it simple please:) I have a 1200 watt 10' sub with 4 ohm impedance, will you please recommend an amp that will properly power this sub? Thanks a lot!
+Harrison King Hey bud. No problem, I will definitely hook you up with some suggestions! Just a heads up, usually companies post their peak power output to make things look like they can handle more power. The bigger the number that people see = the more excited about the product they are. Its a marketing trick. Can you please post the model of the subwoofer you'll be using? I can use this to match you up to the perfect amp, but i need some specs first. Also, are you using 1 subwoofer, or are there 2?
Rv Converter amp, you can plug it into your home 120v outlet. If you look it up you can run it directly to the car audio amp to your subs, definitely can run big power through it. There are certain amperage ones where you can run up to 10K watts. I just know your house bill will be probably high 😂
I HEARD no matter what amp you use this will only provide 100w of power??????
I can push 600 at 2ohms
False.
Great video I couldn't of done it without your help thanks so much.I was having a hard time with the brick because it would only stay on stand by couldn't get it to produce 12 volts .Thanks again Dale
Glad it was able to help you!
so.. my amp is 750 watts. has 1, 30A fuse. and my Xbox 360 brick has only 14.7A I think. so Whan I try to turn on my amp it only plays for a little bit than the light on the brick turns red. does this means that I need more amperage?
This would be an issue with your blue and red connection i believe. The red light usually signifies that it doesnt have a strong turn on signal. I would solder the blue and red connection and see if that helps. If not, i will need more info on your amps and also on your brick model number. Sorry for the late reply :)
Your amp is pulling a lot more amps then the Xbox 360 plug can give
30 amp fuse and the 360 only puts out 17.7 amps on a good day, it will keep shutting off or going into protect.
It's better to use a power supply from a computer that will put out a lot more amps
The only reason he can run the Xbox plug is because he has a small amp on it
Using the slim version, when I plug it in the power supply is green and amp goes into protect then about 15 seconds after the power brick turns orange, as soon as this happens the amp flashes on then off.
because that lil power supply does not have enough amperage to run your amp.
Turn down your input gain or stack 2/3/4 adapters in parallel to increase your ampers
hi when i connect red and blue i get red light ive got 4 yellow 4 black a red and a blue wires//
The red light means that something is either touching the red and blue wire connection or they are not connected securely. Try using a butt end connector and wrap that with electrical tape for added insulation.
Ben Leclerc thanks bought another and all is well many thanks for your reply
Can I use it to charge my laptop battery. The battery voltage rating is 11.1V
48W
4400mah. I don't have a laptop charger for my computer.
I wouldn't recommend it. Most laptop chargers have specific specifications for power.
@@BenLeclerc Damn!
I have a question if you put it to loud will the amp go off
Aaron torres If you turned it up too loud, two things could have happened... 1 - Your speakers could have blown.. If your amplifiers RMS ratings exceed what your speakers could handle, then you fried the voice coils in your speakers and you're SOL.... 2. You could be drawing too many ampers. If you have a very powerful amplifier, you may need to get two or three of these power bricks and run them parallel into your amplifier. These bricks only supply 20 ampers i believe, and usually a amp, when turned to 85-90%, will draw 20-30 ampers. Just check to see if your amp have the power on light. If it does your speakers are fried, if not, you need another power brick
I want to connect a pair of speakers to this setup. I'm planning on using my desktop PC as my audio input. Where would I connect my speakers to? The amp? Thanks. I'm a complete noob. Great video BTW.
Yeah sir. Check out my follow up video in the comments. May give you more info. Sorry for the late reply haha
When the bass hits the power supply goes red what is wrong
Make sure you have strong connections between the blue and red wire. Make sure your positive and negative are secure. What are you trying to run?
Try adding on a capacitor to the power (yellow). Some people throw in a battery but das too much
So everything is working! So I moved to living room for cable etc. Was building for living room anyway I get in here an how do I get my audio from cable or TV?
RCA cables from the back of the TV to the Amp. Or they may make an HDMI adapter for RCA midstream access. Check those out
i know this is weird but do you know how i can connect a ps3 power supply to my amp
May have to search a bit for that answer friend. I don't deal with playstations much haha
It turns on for me and works but there’s a constant annoying buzzing, any ideas?
@wallace7108 probably the input source. Could be current interference. Trying using a jacketed rca
@@BenLeclerc I found a video and ended up fixing it
I wrapped a wire around my rca jacks and grounded them, immediate fix
Still appreciate you’re still answering questions over 8 years later, good stuff
Okay opened my xbox power supply and i have blue red yellow and black wires as i should.. but what is the one white wire with them? Where tf should that go🤔
I have no idea man. Best bet is to wire everything as shown and leave white disconnected and NOT TOUCHING ANYTHING! Then plug the adapter in and see what happens. You can measure the voltage of the wire here too
and i would imagine that the speaker ( Left Right ) would go into the amp and the end would go into the speakers correct?
i would imagine so my friend :)
I have 2 yellow and 2 black, 1 red and blue and white, i put both the yellows together, the blacks together, and the red and blue together. The power brick lights up red, it used to be green, what could be wrong?
Try plugging it in and see if the white has power running to it and let me know.
@@BenLeclerc i just pluged in the white wire with the black ones and it works great, i bought another xbox 360 cord because i thought it didnt work and now i have 2 the work
So ive followed all directions, but snp turns on and evenything but only for a few seconds then it turns off, could you knkw whats wrong??
Amplifier protection mode. Needs more power, stack 2 xbox adapters in parallel. See my followup video :)
Some videos say the little wire should be (12V to remote) not (power to turn on) or is the remote same thing as turn on, sry my bad english and dont know if their the same thing. And also other videos show the little wire going from the middle to the right one yours is from the left to the right or are they in different order in ur amplifier?
Trying to answer this the best I can. Every amplifier has different layouts for the positive and negative wires. Just follow what your amplifier shows, symbols will be on it. 12v to remote and power to turn on are the same thing, just different ways of saying it.
@@BenLeclerc okay okay i get it thanks!
I ran rca no good from cable or TV. So I'm thinking rca to 1/8th to aux. On deck. Then rca to amp?!
There should be an audio output on the back of your TV. Usually a white and red RCA output. You can use a regular RCA cable for this. Or see if there is a 3.5mm jack for output from the TV.
thank you for the better vid im doing this I was going to use a small car batter charger but this has more amps so it will be better
No problem buddy, glad i could help out. I now have 4 bricks stacked together. All the power wires are twisted together and all the grounds are also. Just to be sure i have enough amps haha. Might be overkill but i test some big systems sometimes.
+Living For The Ice I have a question can you wire 2 blocks together and have the power stay at 12 v with out damaging the amp
So they power adapters i believe push out 14 or 15 volts. This is fine. Car amplifiers run at 14.2-14.7 volts optimally for most newer amps. You should be fine running 2 or even 4 of these xbox adapters together in series and not have anything go wrong. Check out my follow up video and you can see how i set up 2 power blocks. Just connect all the positives to one another and same thing for the negatives.
I got a 1,400 watt amp pushing 2 500 watt speakers and it keeps cutting off what should I do
You're probably trying to draw too many ampers and you're amp is gojng into circuit protect mode. Stack 2 or 3 xbox adapters in parallel to up your ampers to the amplifier. See my followup vid! :)
How big of a amp will thw x box cord power like a 1000 watt amp or like a 3000 watt amp so i know how big of a amp i could use please and thanks
There should be conversions online for ampers from Xbox to ampers at amplifier. Just make sure you have enough ampers and you'll be good
just a quastion, i have seen alot of people do this with the xbox power adapter but, not all that loud soooo. do they have bad amps or is there coming way to low power trought the adapter imean, i want to do this with a 900Rms amp on 2ohm so that could be to heavy for the adapter right ?
Yeah buddy. Cars are the best to use powerful systems in. If you are trying to get good sounding audio in the house, invest in a 2.1 sound system or 5.1 if you have the money to spend. I mainly use my power adapters to test equipment before i install it for people or to run something around 200 watts RMS at best. I wouldn't recommend trying to power 900watts RMS. You'd need probably 8 power adapters and it would cost a FORTUNE on your electric bill.
thanks for the information, it seems like u know more than me about home sound systems any recommendations for home subwoofers iam a real basshead haa ^^ i have this home amp atm JVC RX-884R THANKS if u can help me ^^
I honestly know way more about car audio my friend. I am not well versed in home audio equipment... Sorry friend!
If you're still looking to do this, they make power converters that you can hook to regular house plug outlets and there for RVs, and you can push up to 10000 Watts with them. So if you get one you can definitely push some big Power threw some competition subs LOL. They ran from 140 to $200 online For the conversion or I would say the power converter.
@@MrSours69 7 years ago, but that still sounds amazing tbh! we made a home cinema with 5 subwoofers right now hahaha, what would be a name that I can type in google to find these things ? you have any names ?
Random question, could I use this to hook up a 12V car plug in? As in use 110AC house power to power up a 12V plug in cooler/heater
Yes, but you'd have to match the amperage required for the cooler to the amperage supplied by the bricks. Check online to get the exact requirements. You might need 2 power bricks if the amp requirements are over 20 for the cooler
.. thanks for the help .. how do i connect a radio to this so instead of being just bass there can be sound too like music , movies etc i wanna be able to hear the voice but idk how to wire it so that the radio turns on
Abraham Rodriguez hook the radio turn on wire onto the power wire with an on off switch for power control
My amp has 3 25 amp fuses will this work with the 360 power brick
600.1 d3 diamond
What are you running off of it? How many ohms is your final load?
Mine has 2 yellows 2 blacks 1 blue 1 red and 1 GRAY. What's the gray for??
Grey could be a neutral. Try taping it off with electrical tape and see if the brink turns green. If not, let me know and i will do some more digging around
@@BenLeclerc I contacted the grey to the 2 black wires and my Xbox 360 power supply is green so dose that mean it will work for the amp?
Hey is there any way to skip the amp and just fuse it to the radio itself? I have a pioneer DEH-X1710UB
Yes. Connect black to black on the harness and connect yellow from power brick to yellow and red from radio. Add on/off switch on red wire so you can shut it off when you want
whether it is possible to connect both an amplifier and a radio from one xbox unit. in the sense of splitting them between the two wires so that they both go to the amplifier and the others to the radio
Yes this is very possible. If you view my followup video you will see that I used a power block distributor to split the positive and negative to two different sources. If you have any questions on that after watching the video, feel free to comment there and I'll be able to help you out also!
think 500rms will support because from the same wires i will connect a mono amplifier and a radio
If i put the power supply directly to my car radio isn't it going to blow up bcs on the car radio fuse it said 10A 12v
No. The fuse prevents surges of unregulated or reverse polarity power basically. The radio will be completely fine when you wire it to this adapter, granted you wire it correctly.
I followed everything but my power brick stays yellow until I remove the 12v yellow wires from my amp, how would I fix this?
my brick turns green when I remove the yellow wires from the aml
+DabTheCrab™ PC/PS3 What version power brick are you using? What is the layout of all the wires you have?
For example, I had 3 yellow, 3 black, 1 red, and 1 blue wire. I would imagine that one of the wires are touching each other. If you were grounding out, it would be sparking, so your black wires are all set. Check the connection and insulation on the other 3 wire types and make sure none of them are touching.
from the cut ends of the brick cable (yellow, black, blue, red) can I not just connect the yellow to power (on my subwoofer) and then black to ground? instead of adding the thick car cable with the fuse? thanks
You can just connect the wires, yes. But I would NEVER, i mean NEVER, wire anything electric without a fuse in between. Its a simple step that can save hundreds of dollars in the off chance something happens. There are a million scenarios that could occur that would be catastrophic for the amplifiers circuitry that could be avoided if a fuse is added! You could also start a fire if the spark is large enough. So you can wire these directly, but please please please, add an inline fuse on the positive wire for safety measures.
Living For The Ice thank you for the reply, my sub has a build in fuse would that be enough? I have a subwoofer in my car and ofcourse it is fused straight after connecting on battery.
does this set up work if you connect low input audio cables (red and white generally) to the TV to get bass from subwoofer and sound from TV?
thanks for fast reply btw.
Yes this will work for the RCA connection from a TV. And those fuses for the amplifier protect the internals of the amplifier. This is not enough though as you want to protect the amp entirely before it could become damaged. Too much of a power surge can cause the fuse pins (since they're small fuses) to weld together, leading to an uninterrupted flow of power to the circuitry. Protect your investment bro. Its well worth it. Sorry i took longer on the reply, im getting ready to head back to school and life is getting crazy haha.
Living For The Ice no worries pal, thank you for the help I understand it more now, wiring a sub in a car I know what Im doing but in a home I am new to, so sorry for all the questions just trying to understand. thanks again
Always good to ask questions man. No worries what so ever! Hope everything gets working for ya.
I ordered one but it’s different it has one red wire and one black wire and one white wire and one green wire how would I wire it
Are you sure that is a OEM power brick? Maybe you bought one for the Xbox one x? Not sure man, never heard of that wiring schematic before

hey um can i power my amplifier and car radio stereo using the same 12v dc ?
You can, but I wouldn't recommend it. Your amp will go into circuit protection mode if the current allowance is too low, its a safety mechanism so you don't torch transitors and MOSFETS. I don't believe stereos have this feature, and if your amp pulls too much power, it may harm the stereo. Best bet is to buy a second brick, one for each. Would rather be safe than sorry :) good luck and let me know if you need any more help
does the bass is exactly the same as it comes from a car battery ?
shubham upadhyay the bass is the same minus the loading principle and air movement characteristics of a vehicle
Does the brick heat up much as it's on all the time I presume?
Yes. Add an on/off switch. Check out the follow up video
Alright buddy, I have completed all of your steps, went to turn on and no light comes on the brick and nothing happens, have a done something wrong? thanks
lewiskx hey man. if there was no light on there may be an issue before the power brick. check your plugs and make sure you fuse isn't blown on your homes circuit breaker. if these are both okay, there seems to be an issue with the red/blue connection. usually if these aren't connected, you'll just have a steady red light on instead of the normal green light. if those wires are connected securely (try soldering them to be sure) then it is most likely a bad brick. happens sometimes man. let me known how it turns out and if you need any more help
Ben Leclerc I think it's a bad brick ffs, haha, should have tested brick before I cut head off to see if it worked before.
Very glad i could be helpful man. Ebay sells authentic ones pretty cheap. Grab another one from there and give it a whirl!
The adapter I have is off of a cable box or something anyway I built an ice chest with 4 6×9 and a 200w alpine Bluetooth car deck and it works amazing but ended up having to add another power supply bc it would cut of at half volume. Anyway I'm running an amp in a buddy's house, should I run 1 power for amp and 1 power for deck?
Hey man. Run 2 power adapters to a power block distributor then that'll split it to the deck and amplifier. The deck doesn't need many amps at all. The amplifier will require most of the ampers the adapters will put out. Check out my followup video, it shows the power block distributors. Let me know how it goes!
@@BenLeclerc 2 power adapters. 110 to 12v? And also a power block distributor
?
@@jasonherod3567 if you check out the followup video, link in the description, I have that exact setup to run 2 amps. You'll understand more from watching that instead of me typing some big long explanation :)
@@jasonherod3567 also, 110v is AC and we are converting that to DC power, 12v. We run 2 adapters parallel which still only gives us 12v output with double the ampers provided. If we ran the adapters in series, that would give us 24v which we don't need.
Which one is the positive black or yellow you kind of left that out
Sorry. At 3:15, I point to the yellow wires and state that they are the 12v+ wire. But Yellow is positive, black is usually always negative (anytime you are wiring)

how many amp this power brick make ?
I believe it is 15-20 amps per brick depending on which one you get. There are a few different ones out there that can have different output settings. I use 3 of them connected together in parallel to get sufficient power for my 500w RMS 4-channel amp

Any one no how to connect receiver radio to amp I already got amp Speakers hooked up thanks
RCA cables from radio to amplifier
so I have 2 15" subs and there 1200 watts rms each and an 8000.1 amp. what would you say is best to do for this much power? bout 4 to 6 of the blocks?
Definitely wouldn't recommend this man. That is a massive amount of power required. Usually, unless houses are brand new and wired perfectly, fuse panels wont be able to handle this. And your electric bill will be astronomical.
You'll also be doing a lot of damage to your amplifier and subs if you under-power them. I really do strongly recommend NOT to do this dude. I would hate to see that investment be ruined.
Living For The Ice
Oh ok lol. it was a thought I had about doing was all. so what would you say is a safe amount of power. I only use it to watch movies
Hey buddy, sorry i never got back to you on this question. I usually am pretty good about this. Did you end up hooking anything up to your converted power adapter? I would recommend you run something under 500w RMS total.
I got that but when I connect everything up it turns off once i turn up the volume to about or between 30-35. Could I also use a car battery? Would it then not shut off like it has been with the xbox360 power brick and be just fine..

For ac power yes. When it's dc power, black is ground. The brick is the converter, thus after the brick it's dc power

JESUS VALDEZ hey man. no one has asked about this yet. but there seems to be a lot of people who are using the 360 slim adapter which works slightly different than the original 360 adapter. which one do you have and what color wires do you see on the adapter?
I have the 4 yellow and 4 black . and the blue and red. the brick says xenon on the side on a sticker .
Okay, so i don't have my Xbox adapters with me so i don't know if that is a generic power brick or an authentic Xbox power brick. But either way, if the orange light is on, something may not be wired correctly. Make sure the blue and red are connected and sealed (electrical tape or shrink wrap). Then make sure your positives and negatives are also sealed off from one another so no shorting out will occur. Finally, be sure the leads are both hooked up properly to the amplifier. If this all is good and you're still getting an issue, take a quick video of everything from the brick to the amplifier. Post the link here and i will take a look to see if anything doesn't look right. Much easier for me to diagnose something if i can see it, ya know? Hope that helps bro!

so if i plug rca to audio jack male to amp and use a aux that plug into a speaker and plug them both in a aux splitter would it work?
@@yungboozer3395 I think I understand. Short answer no, you need external power for speakers to function. Using an RCA is only signal input, not power input.

What is your watts on your amp i need to run a 600w amp 4 one 12". Will the x-box brick run a 600w amp?
Hayden Hollis Usually when people say how many watts their amp is, its usually the peak power rating, which will most likely never be reached. You should be fine with just one power brick for a mono 12" @ 4ohms im guessing. If you want more info, post your amp model and sub model and ill make sure the brick can handle it.
Im am looking for an amp to get but im not sure what i need it has a 600rms rating should i be fine with a 600w amp that has 335rms ?
Hayden Hollis You're going to want to try to match RMS ratings for your subwoofers and amplifier as closely as possible. Too much power, and you could potentially burn out the voice coils on the sub. Too little power, and your amplifier will overwork itself, overheat, and go into protection mode very often. Best bet it to try and match them. What type of subwoofer setup do you have? Ill let you know what kind of amp to get...
Ben Leclerc phoenix gold octane r 4.0.2 250w rms bridged running xplod 12" 380w rms
Would this power a 1200 watt amp
Yes.
i know this is 6 years ago 😂 but, i have 4 ix12 skars. what amp would you suggest ?
What the rms rating per sub?
suco • 100bc 1 250 watt rms
Are you planning a vehicle install? Cause you'll need hefty amps to push most skar subs. Xbox adapters won't cover this... send me the exact subs you have an ill see what I can find for you
Thanks Ben just watching your video. Looks good.so I do like a good cinema surround sound. With good bass dub I've got 2x 1200 Sony subs. I been thinking of doing this trick for a bit now will it still work. With the 2 subs. In one box? I've just obtained an old Xbox computer which my neighbours was throwing away. So I'm not a computer geek g anyway. So I've got a new charger. so it's a case of thinking about going ahead and try ING it
Yeah it'll work man. You just need an amplifier, you'll connect the power to the amp and the amp can be wired in series or parallel, giving you a wide range of ohms and power output. If you let me know the make and model of the amp and subs, I can tell you how to wire them if you're confused there.
@@BenLeclerc thata kind of you. Man when I drag it all out of my shed I let you no. I think I've got a monoblock amplifier from car. The Sony xplod subs in a double box thinking of hacking the box in half and making too subs I think the 4 ohms subs. I think the amp. Gos down to two ohms.
I am going to put them behind a stud wall. Like a false chimney under my TV entertainment centre unit. I was thinking of just putting the subs floating in the wall. But firstly they will Powerful. And it's against my wall. Eeek lol. So I'm thinking of just screwing down the sub boxes to the concrete floor to prevent any vibrations
I've got a Sony 1080 amp with twin pre sub outs. if I why are there in series I'm not going to get as a deep bass and get the most out of the subs? If I y them up parallel. I will get the subs will go down to 2 ohm load. I think???
I'd use my subs, but the amp runs off 4AWG wire, so fuck that. But I have a radio with four 6x9s I can use instead
@mezz you can use the amplifier. Your wire size allowance is designed with vehicle install in mind. You need a higher gauge wire based on length of wire x power consumption.
My power brick keep going red , it not staying in the green light
menghak ma make sure you connections are secure. Use a butt end connector and crimp the two wires together or solder them together. Let me know if that works buddy
do you think I can use this on a skar sdr 8" loaded enclosure?
What amp are you using. And what ohm are you running at?
@@BenLeclerc I haven't bought it yet but I'm going to use the skar rp350.1d amp
@@ncpyro2464 whats your final ohm load?
can you Combined 2 of those power bricks by any chance?
Linda C. you can! I currently had 3 wired together to generate more power since my subs require more amps than 1 brick can provide! check out my follow-up video (link in the description) and you can see two of them together
K Thanks Ben
I have a 600 rms 800 max 8 in sub and I'm tryna get a 600 rms amp, can one power brick power that?
If you wired these adapters in SERIES, the voltage will increase. When you wire in parallel, you double the amperage but voltage remains between 12-14v. There is always extreme caution used when wiring to ensure that cross voltage introduction does not occur. And 8 gauge power wire is much to large for 3 bricks. This will only produce around 50amps max, which would require somewhere around 12g wire for a short (3-6ft) run.
No sir. To get the full ability of subs with that rating, you would need a minimum of 3-4 bricks wired in parallel and probably a capacitor. If you were to wire this into a car, you would have no problem with a simple 4 guage P/G install and wouldnt need the capacitor. I wouldnt expect anyone to push something over 400w to the limits with xbox adapters. If would take a lot to get them quite that high. But good luck with your install and let me know if you need any more help!
You have to turn the box on
@@HappyEagle-ps1ul what?
Can I use a capacitor or 2nd battery with this?
+Rhenaldo Barnard I wouldn't man. Capacitor wont like the slow recharge rate and i think it will burn out quickly. And the battery wont recharge i believe. Since this isn't setup as a charging system, the battery will just be a pass-thru i believe. I am not sure on these, but that is my theory. I wouldn't use either if i were you, but if you end up trying it out, let me know.
Another option if to get 2 or 3 xbox power adapters and join them all together. This will increase your ampers output and increase your amplifier power. Good luck with everything bud!
+Living For The Ice so just connect them all together? (All the yellows and blacks from both power supplies put together)
+Rhenaldo Barnard yes. You'll want to solder them together. I have 3 that I soldered together. Take all of the yellow wires and solder those all together. Same for all of the black. You'll be left with 3 red and 3 blue. Connect the red and blue wires together separately for all 3 blocks. Those are the turn on wires and you'll want to make sure that they are each individually connected.
+Living For The Ice thanks man.
Rhenaldo Barnard
No problem brother. Any other questions, feel free to either email me or comment back on here and ill help you out as best i can!
You can add a switch on the blue and res wire to use as a cut off switch
Or just unplug it. It is more reliable to not intercept those wires. More chance for failure
Ben I’ve got a 360 adapter i’m trying to attach them to a subwoofer with a built-in amplifier. Am I right in saying that I can connect the wires that you’ve shown in the video and then connect them straight into the subwoofer. I presume this will allow me to power the unit and it has also basically got two connectors which will allow me to connect to my laptop direct. The question I have if I was to add a normal speaker to this combination would you suggest that I double up on the inputs going to the sub woofer speaker.?
Hey man. So if you have a built in amp on a sub, then yes you can wire the power directly to it. If you add another speaker set, you'll need a new power source for these speakers, the sub amp will blow the speakers out quickly and you won't have good sound quality. Best of luck!
Wow it really works thanks bro
Glad I could help bud! Stay safe
You voice reminds me of Jesse from Breaking Bad 😱
Hahaha, no one has ever made that reference. Ill have to check it out. lmao
Bahahaha I'm actually watching that right now I can see where you get that. Ben can you say "Yeah science bitch" or "magnets bitch" then we will have an even better comparison
Instead to butt ends can you just connect the wires then wrap it in electrical tape?
You can but i would not recommend it. This type of connection is very insecure and can result in a lack of power. You can do it this way, but make sure they are twisted securely and taped with electrical tape so they do not short the circuit.
I tried it as a trial and error, and it worked the first time. Doesn't cutout and supplies enough power for two 12s and the amp. Thanks
No problem. Glad it works
Hey. I was thinking about doing this but my amp only has (rem) remote, (gnd) ground and +12v to plug wires into. So what wires would I have to put where I mean for the yellow and black wires on this video??
+maxharli So the remote and power inputs both get the yellow wire. The Ground gets the black wire
just sell it and never touch sound systems again
thin yellow is 5v
12v+
Very helpful thx
Isaac Deason no problem buddy. glad I could help!
Worked great
Tayub Khan glad to hear my friend!!!
Best 150 subs you can buy js
Loved these subs, but upgraded to RF P2's and they blow these out of the water.... Highly recommend them.
Will this power a 1100w boss riot amp mono
Revolution-_ WEST you'll need two of these power adapters minimum to run that. Check out my follow-up video
Okay thanks it worked good for a 400w amp but my amp get hot cause I have it powering my kickers 300w each so the total watts is 600w that’s why it get hit after a lil while
Revolution-_ WEST yeah gotta be careful my friend. You'll fry the mosfets inside if you underpower it for too long
Oh okay thanks
It could at least handle 600w max cause that what I need for my kickers
Nice
Thanks friend! :)
MI think yellow are 12 gauge
What did you mean by this friend? They are closer to 18/20g wires
That's bro🙏
Glad I could help!
Good information but said umm so many times
Grammer police? Haha.
ARM!
Come again friend?
Subwoofers should be illegal. They are used by inconsiderate people who need a beating.
That's a highly ignorant position to take on such a miniscule topic. Not everyone who uses them does so inappropriately or with malice. A few bad apples doesn't spoil the bunch
@@BenLeclerc "a few bad apples doesn't spoil the bunch". Yes, as a matter of fact and they do. Subwoofers should be illegal. I have neighbors on both sides of me who used subwoofers, I live in a two-family home and the people who live below me used subwoofers. Subwoofers should be illegal. They ruin the quality of life for everyone.

Are you using an original Xbox 360 adapter? They don't have blue lights that I'm aware of
