This is THE BEST tutorial on stage-appropriate masculine makeup that's not over-the-top flamboyant or cartoon-y. Adam All surely has a huge extended brotherhood across the globe who share a family resemblance. A thousand thanks, Jen!
Thank you so so so so much for this tutorial, you’ve literally opened my eyes. I’m 24yo and I’ve never touched a brush or makeup things until now, you know what I mean. I’m Italian and there’s a lots of drag queens instead of drag kings, sincerely I don’t understand how is this possible but trust me if I say that I got no “Fathers/Brothers” , just my drag Mother and sisters who’s helping me a lot with this expecially they’re helping me with makeup tips but it’s not the same thing... I’m so happy that I found your tutorial, for 55 minutes I listened to a Mentor, for real. I’ll take your tips in my bag (literally) during and outside performance, trying to find my own King! Being part of this means a lot to me, I’ll keep swimming not exclusively for myself but even for those who don’t feel free to express theirself, thank you again, Adam! 🙏🏼👑
Bro, Cuz, Neighbor! This is HANDS DOWN the absolute BEST king face tutorial/walkthrough on the internet! Thank you SO MUCH for putting this out there. I appreciate your talent and community representation. Cheers! JT Wood
I stumbled upon this vid while looking for male cosplay makeup. I tried doing the darker foundation technique and LET ME TELL YOU SIR ARE A PIONEER!!! Its changed my life!! Its given me the nicest base ive had in YEARS!! you've gained an instant subscriber!! ❤❤❤
Few things to adapt to my triangle little face and to my own personnality but I impressed my best friend at the first try. I'm humbly on my way now! Thanks you very much for sharing. Love from France. XXX
I learned a lot! Thank you. I am dressing as an emcee for a Disco murder mystery party I am hosting. I won't be able to be that realistic, but hoping to suggest a male character. My first time as a "drag king".
Found this video casually, just looking for some tips for drag king contouring, but I must say that I’m absolutely in love with you. I’ve found the tips, and that’s wonderful, but I’m amazed by your “mentally approach”, I don’t know how to say that 😂. The fact that at the beginning you say that you use “masculine” and “feminine” just for social conventions, and the way you put it in clear, I think it’s absolutely wonderful. I’m from Italy and I assure you that’s not so obvious like you put. So sorry for my English and thank you so much for the tips and, particularly, for speaking like this and share your thoughts ❤❤❤
I was a Divo in 95. No makeup. Ever. Now, I am back in the game, and WOW things are different. As one of my top 3 fave kings, I came to you specifically for makeup tips and found that I love you more than before. Keep doing you. You are ALL. 😉
I've just started doing drag, and I've gone for 39 years without applying any makeup to my face, and this was so helpful. It not only helped me to suss out my own face, but gave me a confidence I didn't previously have. Thank you thank you THANK YOU!
Thank you so very much for the fantastic info but even more importantly the encouragement and inspiration. I am so grateful and enjoyed watching your video with all my heart 💜💜💜
Nice to see another drag king who has been performing about the same time as me. XD It is weird to see how drag king make up has changed from 2008 -- contouring wasn't a thing for anyone really (except maybe drag queens). I used to just eyeliner on some facial hair and I was good to go.
I have had the absolute pleasure of meeting Adam, you are a wonderful, kind, funny, and intelligent human being. So excited what is next... I can't wait to see your next show! Emily x
This was so comprehensive and well done. Just wanted some tips for making my face look more masculine for cross dressing for an event. I probably won't go so hard with my lines, but I'm one of those that has to unlearn 30 years of make-up habit.
I would like to add one caveat to the "no rules in makeup" make sure that product ingredients are eye safe if used around eyes. You would think that anything meant to go on your face would be ok around the eyes, but that isn't always true. There are many products that people use in ways they aren't meant to be and that is fine if you read the ingredients. Certain things that are not sold as eye products are still used by many people all over, and most never have issues, but I found because I got into face painting that certain pigments are not supposed to be used around the eyes, while you can certainly risk it, if you have any sensitivities, please be careful with your eyes, they are so important, stained skin comes off eventually, even break outs are annoying but will usually heal, but eye inflammation and damage can really be a long term problem even just once. So please be careful.
I've been wanting to try and look like a masculine guy, with mustache and beard and everything ! I always thought I would slay that style ! I'm a cis female, and I've never questionned my gender identity, so I was scared of trying to put on a masculine look because I thought that would be offensive for trans, non-binary and other people actually needing to use makeup and medications to be the person they really are inside... I was scared to wrongly steal one of the few privilege they had. Then I came across your video. And all the beautiful things you said. I really wanted to thank you for telling us that, yeah, we can be, and do, whatever we want to ! As a cartoon characters once said: "Humans are never the same ! You change, you are EXPECTED to change and you choose who you want to be, and what you want to do, and it's such an amazing power. The power to grow, to be Human." So now, I will try and make myself a Drag King, just because I love the look and would feel amazing wearing it ! Thank you so much, I'm looking up your other videos, and you've gained a new sub !
Thanks for sharing this! I'm always very wowwed by how clean and well accomplished your look always is. I've been really interested/tempted to try using or constructing lace front facial hair, so it's great hearing about your experiences with it and what your preferences are.
Its really apparent the time and energy you've put in to hone your craft. Absolutely incredible. I've just started looking at masc transformations in general. I remembered Drag Kings on the L Word years ago and went lookin'. Since drag is all about emphasising and playing up those gender stereotypes, I thought it'd be a great place to get more info on contouring the masc look. You are so nuanced. You've tailored your approach to your specific bone structure, muscles, scars etc. It's taught me a lot in a short amount of time. Thanks so much, Adam All!
thanks a lot! i'm still struggeling about shadows and contouring and you're very clear and helpful. i also love the messages about masculinity and all. and your look is magnificent!! GO adam! Go for your life!
I love this. I also cut and colored my hair for my cosplay. I have such a hard time with this cause my character is known for having like no eye brows. Lol
Love it! I once attended a "come as you aren't" party. My gentleman roomate was decked out in 17th century court attire with his chest flesh pulled into impressive boobage. I obtained a beard/mustache combo, wore male viking attire, complete with boots, weapons, helm, chain mail and fur. The chain mail did much to flatten my otherwise obvious chest. The party was a blast! Lots of mead and merriment, and in a dark quiet corner, a similarly dressed man struck a dramatic pose, then slowly came forward to grab me.....and SQUEALED. BOOBS! Well, I would have told him that if he hand' tried to sweep me up into his arms. I assured him his embarrassment wasn't necessary, that actually was a compliment to my affect. I didn't think I did a good enough job on the FACE. Love this, and I'm making notes! Going to try it in daylight someday.
Hey there appreciate your tutorial on this as a very new on training for stage Drag King. Iam old an bold to hopefully eventually bring drag to Humboldt, Ca. Cereal Man the ole lesbo❤
I've been using eye shadow as contour! 😅 Thank you for helping me know that that's okay. Your makeup looks absolutely amazing!!!! Also, my drag name is Adam too!
Adam I LOVE what you said at the beginning. About all different kinds of drag and that a king does not have to look a certain way. ❤️❤️❤️ I have a tiny elflike heart shaped face, very feminine. So it's hard for me to masc up my jaw. I love to watch loads of different king styles and take the pieces I think will suit my face. I've been waiting for a tutorial on this style. THANK YOU!!! Love and respect, Mal Evolent.
I was told I can't be a drag king (even though I would love to and I am passionate about learning how) because I am 4'9" and therefore I am too short to be a drag king.
AMAZING!! so nice to get to know Jenn a bit too! What a wonderful, beautiful, intelligent, witty, talented person you are! This was so informative and helpful. Big Love to you and all other drag king brothers. Mal Evolent.
i always loved drag queens and kings idk when i started liking them 🤷♀️ but we got our first drag king at my favorite bar an i got excited. he is the best , im friends with him i asked the queens n the king will it be okay if i dress as a drag king for Halloween an they said yes and the drag king name robin he is going help me with facial hair. i love to dance n wanted to be a drag king but idk how to start . i will cry once im dressed up cause it be a dream come true dressing up like a drag king. if anyone comes to Cape coral fl come check out cruisers. we do need more drag kings tho . i love the make up thank u . i think Robin wears make up I'll have to ask .
Amazing tutorial! Honestly so informational and in real time! Cant wait to see my boyfriend's face when he first sees me hoarding hair clippjngs lmaoooo
God, your eyes are HUGE 💙😉 AND an extremely handsome young man Even though you've got a moustache... AMAZING, JEN /KEN XXX Yes, I know it's ADAM, but that doesn't rhyme.... I'll get me coat... 😘
Oh man, you posted this on my birthday! I'm a trans man and drag king, so I have an advantage of actual facial hair and testosterone, but I have a very soft and rather round. So, your contour is really helpful, a lot of the ones I've seen are a little too colorful to me and involve a lot of glitter (which is a great look, just not mine!) so your aesthetic as well is very inspirational and I guess "old-school". I haven't done drag in a while, but I'm going to a bathhouse for genderfuck night and wanted to do something more than just show up with a pronoun pin, seems underwhelming to not go all out, lol! Anyway, I love your look, king!
I love all your clarifications on gender and the lack of rules in drag, it really shows how much you care and you're speaking facts!

I love it! I did follow along. And its a sign of maturity not to care what others think. You go girl...guy!
You're stunninggg! Gonna try this on a friend of mine for an upcoming performance where we're both gender flipped so wish me luck! 😫♥
I have had the absolute pleasure of meeting Adam, you are a wonderful, kind, funny, and intelligent human being. So excited what is next...
I can't wait to see your next show! Emily x
I change my King Drag name to Cereal Guy. Sounds better. This tutorial makes a difference.

Wow this is fantastic, such a change from drag queen makeup , eyebrows are brothers not twins in this case 😂 thank you for this Adam!🥰

Hi Adam I love watching your videos and you were the one who exposed me to drag kings and you always make me laugh thanks👏🏻
This was great! Thank you.
I love this. I also cut and colored my hair for my cosplay. I have such a hard time with this cause my character is known for having like no eye brows. Lol
I really love that you start the contour with the foundation level. I am definitely using that and so many other techniques in my drag. ❤❤❤❤

This is absolutely brilliant thanks! Can anyone suggest a drag king tutorial done by a fatter fellow? My face is CHONKY. :) thanks.
I'm getting Freddie Mercury vibes
Such fun just to play with. I think Adam looks a bit like Freddie Mercury…with better teeth. Brilliant idea to use your own hair.

I love the Freddie Mercury realness.
Thank you!
