I recently purchased the Milwaukee "M12" gun. I wanted to use it to dispense the Ford silicone sealant we use in the Dealership. I have to admit, I had concerns it could handle it........ The "M12" handles the Ford sealant BEAUTIFULLY!!!!! I absolutely LOVE the speed adjustment. Makes re-sealing a timing cover MUCH MUCH easier! EXCELLENT channel my friend! Patrick
Is defiantly a good gun, underrated spec wise from my test. Yeah I'm done with those old mechanical guns, always hated them. I agree it make consistency a lot easier. Thanks!
I’m into the Milwaukee platform for most of my power tools. Both M18 and M12, primarily because they have fantastic tools for mechanical work. That said, it just makes sense to buy some ryobi batteries on a Black Friday sale because they have a few tools that are priced incredibly well. The caulk gun is one of those little gems. Their tire inflator is less than $30 and works great for the $$. Pin nailers and brad nailers can be picked up on sale for great prices as well. I don’t buy ryobi for heavy use but there are some tools that I don’t use enough to justify a red/teal/yellow version. The ryobi tools are also cheap enough that I can keep a couple in my off-roading tool kit
I have a couple of ryoby tools for the house, you can use a cheap battery converter if you have milwaukee batteries, the tool only ryobi deals are peanuts sometimes.
We use the m12 urogun with the 600ml sausage attachment at work on the softer sika polyurethane(uro) and it just sends it out the gun, we have m18 guns with the sausage attachment specifically for glazing as they need to pump an absolute fuck ton of sika glazing uro which is hard as a rock and especially on cold days it can pump 5 to 8 sausages backfilling and sealing a bus windscreen within minutes
Interesting data set. Like you say it will come down to what battery platform you are already running a lot of the time. Ryobi seems to offer really good value for money here and with a lot of their cordless range.
Yep I agree Ryobi seems to be the best value, and they offer maybe the largest line of different tools next to Milwaukee idk its defiantly close, but they are owned by the same company.
I'm invested in both the Ridgid and DeWalt line-ups, but for the price of it I actually bought the Ryobi caulk gun along with the crown stapler. For the price of them and the battery, it cost less some of the other tools alone. I think for tools I'm not going to rely heavily upon, the Ryobi line is hard to beat.
Yep for a lot of the not so common tools Ryobi has them a lot cheaper then the rest. Its even half the price of the Ridgid! The Dewalt gun is nice but its hard to justify spending 4X! Sadly I'm in the same boat, really haven't stuck with one tool company. I will say I think Ridgid is trying to make a comeback but there is a lot of competition now, Chervon with Skill and Flex, is pushing hard for market share.
I have the M12 Milwaukee and 18v Makita. I’m going to suggest the Makita probably has the ability to stop itself if force builds up too quickly, likely some sort of jam detection. A better test rig might allow you to slowly close a bypass restriction to gradually increase force? Other than that, if customer reviews don’t indicate an issue it might just be your test setup. Thanks for the great comparison!
Another person was saying there is a big difference between this caulk gun in 12v vs the 18v even though the specs have them rated at the same force. When the Ridgid comes back from warranty I plan on testing the 18V version and see if I get the same results as the 12v. The 12v did test lower then spec on force but its defiantly a nice gun and I don't see it having issues with most jobs.
@@Tools-Tested thx for following up. Perhaps a good test would be to use some high viscosity sealant as well as the low viscosity sealant used last time. I won’t criticize if you just use the data from your first test in lieu of repeating the “box full of caulk” you ended up with the first time. :)
True. Faster dispensing yet according to this guy “one of the lowest torque”. I have both tools Makita and Milwaukee and for precision Makita has always been better and pretty decent torque too
I use the Milwaukee because when i tried using the makita where the gun had to push harder with more dense material it would stop working and back off it might have an overload sensor or something. The Milwaukee is a beast and shoots it out like nothing.
GREAT REVIEW! Just got the Ryobi caulker for $49 and (2ea 4AH batteries + charger + 5 1/2" skil saw) for another $99 from Home Depot. You can pick from about 15 tools on the batteries + tool special.
Thanks, sounds like you got a good deal! I really think the Ryobi is the best bang for the buck. Just went on HD and seen that deals, trying to resist buying more tools this month...lol
This is a great video and the charts were amazing and so are your production values. I had a Milwaukee 12 V but returned it. I don’t like the ergonomics of the wide design on the model - I noticed that the Dewalt seems streamlined so I’ll probably try that but it’s a buy it once cry it once scenario for these things are very expensive to me. thanks again I just subscribed
Thanks!, yeah I know what you mean about the m12. The only real issue I had with the Dewalt is the price. I agree it seems most are over priced for what they are. But I will never go back to the manual gun! Thanks for the sub!
Use anywhere from 30 to 100 sausages per day with the dewalt. Lasted me over 2 years and still going(the only thing is the pushing mechanism is wearing out, so sausages get a bit stuck, not as easy to remove), I think I'm definetly buying dewalt again. Unbeatable
The ryobi is a good value, until it breaks. if you happen to throw a cured cartridge in it will destroy itself. Most of these tools will have electronics in them that will shut the tool off with a rapid force increase. you really dont want anything higher than 500lbs on any 10oz cartridges, they will break themselves. The second button on the dewalt is preferred in some applications.
I haven’t used my M12 one much yet, but the auto retract kinda worries me. It retracts a fixed amount regardless of caulking speed. So at the lowest caulking speed, it takes I think 8 seconds to extrude past what you retracted. You can literally quickly squeeze and release the trigger repeatedly to fully retract the plunger.
I can understand that, I did notice it if you were fast on the trigger it will fully retract. Would have been nice if the tension was just taken off not reversing. Low it can take some time to get back pushing.
Interesting. I would have figured the faster speed to empty a cartridge would mean Makita would have had the higher pressure. Well, I guess building pressure is one thing, and moving it efficiently and or quickly is another. Good video. For my choice via platform, I went with Dewalt. Looking forward to ache free hands lol😂
My Ryobi came apart and broke at the tube motor junction. This after using just 6 tubes of Sika Flex & the gorilla construction adhesive… At least it’s replaceable, but I don’t see the quality being good on any of these except maybe Makita not sure about Milwaukee 18 V
Yeah most really don’t like the Sika tubes. I put probably 20 tubes through my ryobi and the rod is actually bent. Probably the best gun for sika is the Milwaukee or new Hilti nuron.
Was thinking of buying Makita. With that FAST dispensing... hell NO! Didn't produce anywhere near the force claimed and LOUD. I'ma stick with manual gun. U just saved me 200€! So, thanx VERY much.
Little late on this video but Metabo HPT just released their 18v Caulk Gun will you be doing a future update with this included? Keep up the good work bro
Probably not, but its defiantly a lot easier than the manual style. Really comes down to what brand you're running? If ryobi you can pick one up for $60.
Interesting video with a lot of good points... only problem I see is that about Makita... Matita 18v is another story compared with Makita 12v.... if you can test a Makita 18v, you will be surprised...Great video!
I cant test the GCG 18V-20 because the tube is solid, so my tester won't fit. I need to buy the new version GCG 18V-310 which has an open 10oz cartage holder. Issue is, like normal bosch fashion its not available in the us yet.
IMHO, I think you may be giving entirely too much weight in your decision to the "safety" mechanism that requires you to, in some models, engage something before you can pull back the cartridge. Surely there is a good reason for that additional feature. Why wouldn't you cover that? And is it really such a bother? I think cost/performance should eclipse all else, to hell with any feature SOME may consider a vexation.
If I had the ryobi platform I would snag it. I got the kobalt as one of my battery platforms, looks like I'm going to be going to get it tomorrow. Tired of the hand type.
Hated the M12 retraction was too much. Dewalt was much better & having a second button was overemphasized in the review - you are only on the second button when changing tubes.
I must say your video is excellent with charts, timing and content. Only 5% of people are naturally analytical. Congrats!

As per usual for makita quality.

Based on the video, the Makita reverses and releases the tension. Best of both worlds,.

I caulk for a living i have tried the makita, hilti, and Milwaukee. I use the Milwaukee m18 by far the best and strongest
Yep, that new nuron Hilti is powerful though.
I like rigid. Lifetime warranty every time they send me a new updated version tool.
Milwaukee M18 good for auto glass urethane when it's cold

At work we have about 5 × M18 millwaukee's that all have the aluminium cases that contain the sausage broken besides that there a good gun.
Interesting, the m18 gun defiantly apply a lot of force!
@@Tools-Tested They do apply alot of force, I think the aluminium sausage casing has to be thicker wall to last.

Any update on the Ridgid? Was the replacement any better?
I received a new one from warranty it worked as it should. So maybe I just received a fluke.

Probably not
Probably not, but its defiantly a lot easier than the manual style. Really comes down to what brand you're running? If ryobi you can pick one up for $60.
I may still consider it. The nicer manual ones run more than the Ryobi ...
