Bruce's last 2 solo records before he & Adrian rejoined Maiden are better in a different way then just musically than the X Factor & Virtual XI. Bruce's solo work with Roy is is untouchable
Taking the Queen Bruce Dickinson Who stole your heartbeat in the night? The acolytes fearful in the flickering light They hold a mirror to catch the breath from your mouth But your breath was stolen by the wind from the south Another winter's tale is done Your immortal lover is gone The chalice stolen from her hand Eternal life at her command Now all that she rules must see... The howling shriek of death in your eyes The whole court and the beast enter your room The gold will turn to rust Your empire follows you into your tomb The wraiths of night caress And whisper softly now, "We are the dead" They bear your life away They tear your heart in two They've taken the queen To some better place, so they think As the flame burns low Now the flame burns higher And it purifies the love that died And scared rats closed in alive Back to the earth, sealing the tomb Our skeletons rise through the veil of blood Who summons us now from our graves? We are the dead" The shriek of death in your eyes The whole court and the beast enter your room The wraiths of night caress And whisper softly now, "We are the dead" They bear your life away They've torn your heart in two They've taken the queen
Bruce’s last two solo records in late 90s with Adrian are better than X factor and Virtual XI. Unfortunately, those solo albums are also better than anything Maiden has done in the 2000s. May the Maiden fans freely hate me for saying this, but I swear it is the truth. Maiden nowadays sounds like a bunch of old men writing overlong and uninspired progrock, not that exciting metal they did so brilliantly in the 80s. I still enjoy watching them live when they do their retro tours, but their 2000s stuff with the rare exception of Paschendale or Brave New World is just tired. Legendary band unquestionably, but I’d rather listen to a piece of turd than The Red and The Black or Angel and the Gambler. Ugh!
Duke Silver Go ahead and enjoy the music you love. No disrespect meant. However, I find there are many other bands out there, making better albums than Maiden in the recent years. However, few bands ever release anything as godly as Powerslave or Piece of Mind. What a killer band Maiden was in the 1980s!
Duke Silver Music is always a matter of taste, so I don’t claim you will enjoy any of these, but there are some interesting prog death bands that have strong melodies and feeling, not just technical wankery. Obscura (Try the Anticosmic overload) and Gorod (try Hidden Genocide or Inner Alchemy) have some really strong albums. Also, if you like 80s, Testament has released some great albums in the 2010s with some Death metal influences, but once again, some cool melodies - if you want to check out Neptune’s Spear, for instance. Vektor might be too weird/aggressive for many Maiden fans, but they have some tripping scifi-inspired riffing, really fast stuff like Tetrastructural Minds. If all of this is too modern in style and you hate the modern growling vocals, how about Spirit Adrift? They have strong retrofeel, strongly resembling Black Sabbath and Ozzy’s solo stuff yet bring something original to the table (try Angel & Abyss). If you only like Maiden and Dickinson, I doubt you will enjoy these though. I don’t wanna listen to Maiden clones, no band can be better at it than Maiden is. But these bands in my opinion show the interesting side of modern metal. Start your search from these and find your own new favorite bands. Maiden is a God, just like Priest and Sabbath, but these new bands could really use your money. In addition to classics, we should find new bands, too, and support those. For one, they are energetic and hungry - the live shows are intense! Also, the classic metal bands are getting old and won’t be here forever. Let’s find something great and support it, so we can have great metal in the future, too.👍🏻
One of the best Bruce songs ! ...Emotional and Epic in the same time
Bruce Dickinson, in his solo career, was greater than Iron Maiden! This guy should be inspiration for the next generations!

I agree
The best singer and frontman ever!!!
Now the flame burns higher
And it purifies the love that died
That is an absolutely beautiful line and the guitar solo beforehand is so melodic.
The best solo song of Bruce
Absolutely love the basslines and solo on this song.

Great! Accident Of Birth is Bruce's best solo album.
To this day I don't understand why he returned to Iron

Rex Thrasher I couldn’t disagree anymore. I am enjoying book of souls just as much as any album. The Red and the Black is one of their top 10 songs.

Rex Thrasher what are you listening to now? I find all the modern bands are just eh. I’m stuck in the 80/90s!
