- Yep!... I actually dreamed this about a year ago 😅
It's no secret that one of my all time favorite games is Super Metroid. It's a game that made such an impact in me that's its made a lasting impression even after all these years. As some of you may know, one of the things that I animate for Apex Legends is the character selection for the legends, my subconscious must have been particularly busy one night when this little sequence popped in a dream. Never really though much of it so I just put it away in my memory bank and it wasn't until recently that I figured it would be kinda fun to actually animate it and give it the aesthetics of an Apex character selection with as much detail as I could.
In order to do this I had to recreate every single detail that you see on the screen. Besides the character of Samus, every single element is created from scratch in order to sell the illusion. The rig was not created by me, it's a rig that I acquired online from Gumroad and the creator is Joe Toole. It was really fun to change the animation style a bit from the one I've gotten used to in APEX and make Samus animate a bit more snappy.
Overall I had a great time making this short animation and I could not think of a better way to pay homage to one of my favorite games of all time. I only spent about 3 or 4 nights making this so overall it came together very quickly... I mean relative to how long cartoons take so let me know if you liked it and would like to see more videos in this style 😉

I think your idea to make "other characters selection scenes" a cool idea. It will give you more material content to work and bring new things with already good established figures that everybody knows and likes.

I know youre happy at Respawn but it would be amazing if you animated for Retro on Metroid Prime 4
Passive: Reserve Tanks. Using Shield Cells after maxing out Shields will store energy into reserve tanks, which fill up your Shields up to halfway once away from combat.
Tactical: Morph Ball. Rolls into a ball that can go mostly undetected for a set amount of time. Grenades can also be placed in this state.
Ultimate: Hyper Mode. Shields are drained in exchange for a powerful barrage of energy beams.
That is some really good animation work ngl. Probably some of the best I've seen

This is sick. This is why I hope Immortal comes out(probably won't), but he looks awesome like a Titan pilot. I'm mainly just excited for Apex Legend's future. It's going to be beautiful.

Passive: Roller when you sprint you curl into a ball and move two times the speed of a normal player
Tactical? Maybe being able to use her arm canon and use the different ammo types with it.
Ult can call down her ship to blast an area of the map.

Well you never actually know with the switch version coming soon and the absence of Metroid prime 4 news. The possibilities are endless.... if they get the ‘all good’ for the character. I think Samus would fit into the titanfall universe quite well.
