Hearing Will genuinely angry out of the gate has changed my week. I love it when the people we know as breezy and funny rip in on what they care about. Boss!
Very high Tech and tech history conversation. Did not know who Kara was, but oh wow, very intelligent and a great speaker. As Jason said, I want to hang out with smarter people! She is one of them. Thanks Kara and guys, yes you need a part 2 with her! Thanks for being my entertainment today!
I would love it if you would allow Sean some air time once in a while. Your podcast is so wonderful, and Jason and will talking over each other and talking over the guest is highly frustrating. Thanks for listening
While Smartless was on their live Tour, Bateman booked an MIT professor as his Guest at the Boston show and it didn't go well. The audience expected a celebrity and they were bored and disappointed and started walking out of the theater in droves. Sean was going to have Kara on as his guest at the next show in Wisconsin and he had to call and bump her in favor of Matt Damon to save her and the show from the same fate.
My big problem currently is that, since you started this podcast, I’ve forgotten that you don’t know me and we aren’t besties. 😕 all three of you live in my heart as friends now- don’t f$ck it up! But, in all seriousness, your podcast got me through a 6 mo road-trip ( solo), a year of grief and countless just shitty attitude days. But, thanks a lot. Now I have to accept that we are not friends? Ugh. Just occurred to me this morning- you don’t know me!!!! Please try to be less likeable. Please!
The highest risk, earliest investors are the public. Tax payer funds funded the creation and development of the internet, the Google search engine algorithm, every element of a smart phone, not only the tech that Space X grew out of, but also we provide the infrastructure that allows Musk to have StarLink. The most important question is: where is our US Sovereign Wealth fund? The fund which holds all our equity positions in these companies (yes, many fail and we funded them too - we funded Solyndra in the same year we handed Musk $500m). Where are our billions in our investment returns we could use for infrastructure, healthcare, childcare, education etc?Why do tax payers take the highest risks but don't share in the returns. Why do we build billionaires, but have nothing to show for it? No tech (or pharma et al) developments were possible without public funding. There can be no discussion of tech without acknowledging the vital and highest risk, multi-decade, non-compensated role of public financing. That's what needs to be corrected. And that's should be included in any discussion of Musk, Zuckerberg, Jobs, Gates, Bezos etc.
you guys want to protect yourselves but fuck everyone else? ... it's smartless podcast full of millionaires. FYI love you guys your funny but some things in this one I didn't particular like due to lack of giving a shit except yourselves but I'm no different.

More episodes like this where we all learn something. This was great. The show has started to sound like the Actors Studio. 🙂
Lol you are dumb if you learned anything from this lady
Smart episode...too smart for SmartLess! 😜
@Sean Hayes, on line vs in line is a NYC thing. It drives me nuts as well.

That’s really interesting. I think I remember this episode and it did kind of suck. 😁

She’s the Kellyann Conway of tech.
These vacuous time wasters heavily grate on taste and patience.
a $3,000 screen.... She is so dismissive of the cost.
Not the best episode.
Unfortunately Kara displays her lack of knowledge here specifically when she discusses Elon Musk. Disappointing.
She knows much more about Elon than you ever will FYI
