The beauty of Wales is underappreciated even within the rest of the United Kingdom. The rain is a feature not a bug. :)
SECRET ME. Chris' knowledge, research & authenticity is unparalleled. 😊
So funny. As you were learning about the swords, you were standing right where King Charles became Prince of Wales!
When Miles is a bit older, there's a series of books called the Dark is Rising Sequence. They are set un Cornwall and Wales. They are a wonderful young reader tale of King Arthur!
Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious. Ha ha. Doesn’t beat that one! Welshman word for the win!!
The rain sounds by the train were soothing. It was a nice video to watch while I'm being lazy and recovering from surgery.
That little train is so cute, my grandkids would love it soooo much!
I love history too! Glad you are doing historical videos!!!!!!!😊
Love Castles and Knights with swords. They had really strong legs
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ Thanks for Sharing This Wonderful Experience. Never in my life would I have Seen Such Beauty if not for this video.😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗
That hoodie from Wales with the red dragon was so cool!!! Great choice!
10:23 Beautiful ❤ For got to wish Amanda’s dad, Happy Retirement!!🎉
You got so close to the edge while on the roof of the castle that my stomach gave a flip just watching it!
I would adore seeing all the castles. So cool!
2:27 SEAGULLS!!!❤
That’s for sharing. Yes! They are incredibly enjoyable!!❤
Love it!! My dad’s side of the family is from Holyhead, it’s a magical country. My dad immigrated to the US when he was 13 and took me back to visit family in the late 90’s. Can’t wait to take my kids back.
My home town. Caernarfon castle was part of the English king Edwards ring of steel around North Wales to control the Welsh. The castle was never finished and over 20 years to build. Others where built along the coast to form the ring of steel all strategically placed to be no more than a days march between them so they could reinforce each other if needed.
Chris, thankyou so much for bringing us along. This was fun. Yes it's not what you normally due, but if you kids are having fun, so are we!
If you like the sword play, I know a group of reenactment group that performs in Renaissance Faires and the like, if you care to watch them.
Thank you again.
That’s a mouthful Gwen!!
🤣🤣
I climbed the 376 spiraling stairs in the Nieuw Kerk (New Church) in Delf, The Netherlands (Holland). I had just broken my foot 3 weeks prior. I can understand the "burn" you felt. Beautiful country. Thank you for sharing.
how CUTE is that little train! I'm glad you got to experience the essential Welsh weather too :P All part of the experience!
That armor looks hot and exhausting. No peripheral vision too, I"m guessing. Loved the tour and thanks for climbing all those stairs for us!
Chris, what I've been learning from your England vlogs is that the country has a very rich history with it's castles. Thank you so much for the tour of Caernarfon Castle, I picked up a lot of things about this. The colors of the UK flag have such a uniqueness to it. If you ever go to England again, go check out the Amy Winehouse statue in Camden Town. Camden Town is a town with a lot of markets in it. Amy would go there all the time and she labeled that town her playground.
Love hearing the seagulls. Great video!
Chris, I haven't told you, but your songs at the end of your videos are so cute. Thank you very much for all of the stair climbing! You must have worked off any cruise ship calories! I appreciate the castle tours! I need new knees and can't walk very far right now. Hopefully 2024 is when I receive my new knees! Thanks for a wonderful afternoon!
Thank you for sharing, Chris!!!
Beautiful 😮❤😮
Thank you for sharing your experience with us. That was castle was huge ..
Thank you for sharing. Love seeing different things too!
Brain over load , taking this All in wonderful. Nephews love it o ch History and historical facts info.
Thanks for taking us along!!
Could you Imagine that place around the holidays😊
I love the Thomas train!
Croeso I Gymru!! The video going round and round the tower brought back some core childhood memories of summers going to Pembroke Castle. Da iawn for tackling all those stairs - they would have killed me. It would be an absolute crime to name that train anything other than Thomas. I am glad you had a proper Welsh weather day, aka ALL the weather in one day. Getting to see people experience where my family is from is a joy, so keep up the great work.
No way can’t believe you visited Caernarfon castle I live where you set off in Holyhead the Caernarfon pronounced (kire-nar-von) castle is stunning. It was built in 1283 at a cost of £25000 or $32000. Great video also loved all your Japan videos.
Thank you for sharing the visit it was really cool! That train looked like a hoot!
Caernarfon Castle is the site of the investiture of Charles, Prince of Wales (now King Charles III) in July 1969.
Too bad I couldn’t chat directly with you while you were at the castle. I grew up with my grandmother and her family who had immigrated from Wales. I could help you get through all those difficult pronunciations 😁. Thoroughly enjoyed the tour of the castle. I’ve seen many photos of it but this was the first video of the interior. Very nice. Oh. I can pronounce that ultra long name too but admittedly with considerable difficulty. But the Welsh shorten it to llanfair PG 😁.
Are you guys gonna show us the cruise ship and what that’s like and what they provide? I’d a love a video of that!
There's a place in France where a team of Historian and Archeologists are building a castle using only period appropriate techniques (and modern safety features). They have this crane that uses basically a giant hamster wheel to activate it. People would just walk in the wheel to power it up!
Guédelon Castle
Amazing! I don't think I could do those stairs. But what a fantastic place to visit! Thank you for sharing the video. Great!
Was there 5 years ago in that very castle (roughly pronounced “Canarvon”) with my 1yr old strapped to my back. Those stairs are forever imprinted on my mind! That castle holds a prominent place in North Welian history. Glad you enjoyed one of the most beautiful places on earth!
Welian?
People from Wales. Like saying “American”
Thanks Chris, looks like you got your leg day done today, So Many Steps! Awesome tour!
I should clarify Thomas the Tank was a very popular children's show in the 1990's. Apparently it is based off some books from Wales. Fun! My son loved Thomas
They rebooted Thomas!
I'm sorry if I missed this but the advantage of ship's tours is that if they are late getting back, the ship will wait for you. If you take out on your own, and are late coming back, the ship will leave you behind.
If I say "Whoa-a-whoa-a-whoa-a-wah-wah", do you know what Welsh man I'm talking about? 🙂
really nice time in Wales!
Loving the video! I didn't see it pop up yesterday so I'm sorry I'm catching it a day late. This is SO cool! I LOVE castles! I wish I could explore.
Huzzah! Thanks for the tour. 💕
Your video is perfectly fine…I like seeing all angles of the Castle . ( someone earlier needs to take a chill pill)
Hey Chris and Amanda good vlog and thank you and keep up the good you do love jarl ❤❤❤
Ghostbusters quote!
I've always loved the Renaissance castle and used to always going to the Renaissance faire in my states. That train reminds me of Thomas the tank engine used to watch him with my kids.
Thanks for another awesome video. 👌
Croeso i Gymru! Welcome to wales! You NEED to try Welsh cakes! Shame you didn’t make it to South Wales, Caerphilly castle has a leaning tower with an angle steeper than the leaning tower of Pisa and is home to the capital of Cardiff. Was great to briefly meet you at FaX Salt lake last year.
You know Caerphilly & Cardiff are different places don't you?
Cardiff has it's own castle.
@@KatMusic2009 well aware they are different as I’m a local ✌️
if you see grooves at the bottom of the stone walls along the castle or a stone building thats where the swordsmen would sharpen their weapons
Glad to see you guys.
I am enjoying your videos. I will never go to the places you have been and are going to. Scotland is where my dads side of the family is from. They were coal miners for the most part. I imagine that some of the coal loaded on the Titanic, could have been doug out by my family. Scotlad was also a place in the 16th and 17th century that canons were made. They used coal to heat the metals to form canons. In the 16th an 17 century, miners were not treated very well either. Have fun! I look forward to your next videos.
Chris, it doesnt seem to matter what you're all up to or what you're doing, they're always very enjoyable!💚💙💚
Oh thank you
Hi PPP Family! Love all of these videos! So jealous lol Maybe some day I will be able to go to these Amazing places🤗 Thank you for all you do❤️
Amazing…love it!
A crwth is a Welch instrument. That word is an example of W being used as a vowel.
The arrow slits were made for crossbows not longbow arrows.
The archers paradox ( movement of arrow off the bow) would shatter the arrow going through a slit that small.
A cross bow bolt comes off the rail straight and spins like a bullet.
One interesting things that isn't often talked about because it's quite controversial. The aquatic mammal was not named after the country, to the consternation of many dozens of people. They were here long before the country was invented.
Areas in that castle give me anxiety…it’s still looks incredible but I don’t think I can handle walking around certain places…thank you for exploring this castle for me 😁
Just a few things, fro a local who works in museums and history. The Caernarfon Castle was built with striped walls to mirror the walls of Constantinople, as Edward I liked to think of himself like an Emperor. The museum is the Museum of the Royal Welch (sic) Fusiliers, who fought in North America throughout the War of Independence. They were present at Concord, Bunker Hill, Brandywine, Guidlford Courthouse and Yorktown. The colours are the flags, not the medal ribbons.
I’m enjoying this so much! My husband’s work sent us to England for a magical year. Our children were 7 and 4. The best! Our 4 yr old even came home with a Liverpool accent! We visited the same caste, thank you for sharing it! My memories came flooding back. England is a very special place. Our kids are now 27 & 24. ❤ We still have dear friends in England.
Thanks Chris, very interesting!
Love it! Thanks for taking us along. Now I want to go see all the castles too. Can you show us your cruise ship?
Another Amazing video.
Love this.
Thankyou so much for this amazing journey through the castle! My mother is from Wales and we still get her to say the longest word in her language! Love your videos they’re amazing! Can’t wait to show my mum! We live in Australia now so it brings back memories! ❤️
Once again you’ve brought us another great experience through your video camera and helped us feel like we’re right there with you. You are such a trooper climbing those narrow, shallow steps. My husband and I can’t walk very well and we truly appreciate you taking us places that we would never be able to get to on our own. Thank you so much! We can’t wait to see where you take us next!
Yay you guys visited Wales!
So glad you guys went and had a good time.
It's such an amazing place to live and we love to see others enjoying the beauty that is Wales!
There is another castle when you guys visit Scotland in port Glasgow area called Newark castle
Wowzers! I am loving every moment of your videos. Thank you for taking the time to share your experiences to places that I don't think I'll ever visit. Amazing how the castles were built and the narrow stairs, and just the overall view from the top of the castle! 🏰 I want you to know that you and your family and so appreciated and special to us. I always look forward to your videos. I know it's alot of work to film, edit, and post. Loving every moment. Thank you! 🤗
Love these videos! 🏰
Yea! We love these videos. If you have time and want to, will you tell us about the cruise ship you went on?
That Welsh word is more like a run-on sentence smashed together 😂
Caernarfon (car-nar-von) Castle was built by King Edward I of England (the king in the movie Braveheart). He built it as a defense during the war of subjugation of Wales. It was built as a statement of power. Just looking at it tells you who's in charge! LOL It is the seat of power for the Prince of Wales- another of Edward's power plays. He had his wife travel there to give birth so he could say the next king was both English and Welsh! Thanks for sharing that gorgeous place with us! Keep having a great trip!😊
So gorgeous. Part of most of our ancestors history.
Thanks for taking us along. We're so blessed you alliw us to be apart of your adventures.❤
9:17 This is also where the phrase “Having the upper hand” comes from.
You should go to the Chepstow Castle in Wales.
I am very much enjoying these videos! You hadn't posted in a couple of days so I was a little worried. I missed you!
No fat soldiers back then climbing those stairs. Daily workout 101
Love that the castle has the reenactments for bow and sword!
Thanks Gwen for saying the longest Welsh word/town! My goodness!

Thanks for taking us along on your adventure and showing us a part of the world we might not get to see otherwise. I hope you enjoy the rest of your trip.
Those stairs are insane! And to think back in the day there were no rooftop railings.
Those stairs looked deadly! Chris, you were brave to climb them. Beautiful views. Also loved the cute train.😊
VERY cool. Thank you for inviting us along on your travels.
Hi Chris, Amanda, and Miles, I enjoyed the Wales Caernarfon Castle tour. I think that to see the British Heraldry room, with King George VI's Proclamation, and all of the Medals, and Portraits of the English Kings, and Military Officers is fascinating.
I was in Liverpool this week and saw a Carnival Cruise in the dock. I did wonder if you were on it 😊
You have to be younger than me lol my knees wouldn’t have made those stairs Chris
25:56 When it pulled up, I was thinking Thomas the Tank Engine (the kids show) and then to find out it's called Thomas....
I LOVE this video!!! Thank you so much for sharing your adventures with us. 💕
Plus, let me just say I absolutely LOVE how much you two enjoy each other's company and joke around. So much love and care between you both. 😍
