Orioles Magic is still rockin steady in 2024. The bats are boomin like usual and the defense keepin the score to a minimal. Amazing catch by Gunnar, awesome throw by Mateo and his hittings got so much better. Great to see Means back on the attack with Cano savin Kimbrel and the game. The consistent teamwork just keeps on rollin. Its great to be an Os fan this year and many years to come. Lets go Os!

Great win. So glad to see Means back, and what a return. I'm done with Kimbrel at closer. It's May 5th and he's blown 3 saves and would have blown a 4th tonight if Hyde hadn't yanked him. He may still be useful eating innings, but we can't have our closer converting 2/3 of their opportunities.
I agree kimbrel scares me he could blow a save of more than 3 runs more than none his stuff isn't closer worthy imo. Cano should have the role but he's a better set up idk we have a problem their we can't loose to blown saves were to good fight to hard 🖤🧡🖤🧡🌆

@therlowfoy9738 yes, the orioles will carry a save opportunity into the 9th 162 times and can afford to blow a 3rd of them. Kimbrel hasn't been an effective closer for 5 years. It's time for someone else to try the role. My vote is for Webb to get a shot.

It's great to see Means back. That's at least two Aces or more. Tyler Wells should be made into a closer. He's great for an inning or two and has the presence (6'8"). Let Kimbrel go and when Bautista is back, you have a confidant Wells.
Yes let Kimbrel gooooo! I can’t believe we were dumb enough to waster that kind of money on him! Until Bautista is back and 100 percent healthy, I’m fine with cano or Webb filling in. We def didn’t need to spend 12 mil$ on a washed up closer for one year
I love the orioles but this is actually getting me pissed. Almost every game he has been in has been pretty trash
We needed veteran bullpen depth and Kimbrel is solid, despite a rough start to the season. We needed a stopgap to fill in for Bautista for one year and Kimbrel was the ideal person for the role. Kimbrel's struggles should be beneficial for the ball club, long term, though... I think it would be a mistake to go all-in on Bautista matching his aberrant 2023 season, which he has never come remotely close to matching any other time in his career. It would be valuable for the Orioles to give some guys a shot at the role, be it Wells, Cano, Baumann, or even Means... Any of them could be the next starter turned dominant closer, a la Zack Britton. Bautista will be given the chance, for sure, but relying on him for 2025 could be an awfully big mistake.
@@MadKingLordeus Youth got us here, be confident they're good enough to solve from within. Veteran leadership like Kimbrel is going to damage the confidence everyone else will get on the occasion they have a bad night.
@apocalypsetech4096 I know Kimbrel has struggled, but the guy us a winner. He has 420+ career saves because he has the mental resilience and the stuff to overcome bad stretches. Everybody has them, and he is having one now. He has been to at least 7 or 8 All Star Games. He has a World Series ring. I feel like he has also earned a little more respect than what he is getting here, but it is what it is. He has blown a couple of saves and we are still on pace to win 108 games, and he will have strong stretches along the way, although maybe he should go to a set-up role while we audition our other guys, maybe make a deadline move to bring in a superstar with a few years of control. I don't want to have to count on Bautista in '25.

Did they check Means after every inning? Honestly curious if other guys get checked that often.
They check them every half inning as far as I know. Usually the 1st or 3rd base ump walks over and meets the pitcher on their way to the dugout.
Maybe one day Mullins, Santander, and Hays will hit a ball....

This is the most casual fan-like statement I think I have ever read on UA-cam. That really saying something... it's almost like you didn't know the other major league ready prospects breaking down the door from Norfolk even existed and only Holliday could get a deal done... We have a lot of starting pitching. With Kimbrel struggling, we need reliable bullpen depth.
Nobody would probably want him now.. I definitely wouldn't give up proven vets, for a rookie who was 2-34 with 17 strikeouts. If he comes back up and still struggles.. they need to cut their losses and try to get what they can for him
