Hello, we to live in Bulgaria and renovated a old house. The old houses here doesn't have a living room. We had to make it.
The house price are low but renovation is expensive. We bought it in 2013 and live here permanently since 2017. We payed for 2 houses 9000 euro total 3000m2 garden. 1 house we bought only for the garden on the border off our garden.
    Live is good here.

Great, I wish you all the Best! I live near Levski in the municipality of Lovech...bought from Mowlem. I recognise the brown paint they use. Whereabouts are you?

Ha ha! Yes they certainly like that brown paint! We are in the Tsenovo municipality, between Byala and Svishtov.

    Just found you
    Beautiful home
Looking forward to seeing your videos
The garage would make a beautiful living space, with a covered parking space to the side for parking/protection in Winter.

Thank you. We hope to have some updates next month. The garage is a great space, but it will definitely be used as a garage / workshop. I’ve been waiting years to have somewhere to tinker!

I too am a new subscriber. Are the upstairs rooms only accessed from the outside staircases, and if so, is it possible to install interior stairs? Best wishes from Susan in East Yorkshire.n

Thanks Susan. Yes the upstairs is only accessible via the outside staircase, this is quite usual with these rural Bulgarian properties. An internal staircase is certainly possible to fit, but not in our immediate plans. Our plans changed since making this video, and we now intend to use the ground floor for all our everyday living requirements.

Very nice! Very typical of properties throughout Bulgaria...everything chopped up, and no evidence of an actual toilet room! Strange, however, it looks sturdy, and the doors and windows are very nice.

The "toilet" is actually in one of the outbuildings, but is little more than a hole in the ground! We will be using a composting toilet. There is no mains sewage connection in most rural Bulgarian properties.

Is it too much to ask how much you paid for it?

@@healthyandanextraincome4746 I'm sure it is possible to negotiate on price if you are dealing with a conventional estate agent. We didn't try to get a discount, but it was a strange time to buy as Brexit was only a few weeks away and both countries were in lockdown.

I choose to do as much as I possibly can myself, but you can hire workmen if required. We use outside people to keep the garden cut back a few times a year while we are still in the UK.

Yes we did. They made the whole process very easy despite the obstacles that buying in the middle of the pandemic brought up. They continue to be helpful to us even after the purchase.
