    That pro tip for the hose is fantastic. I’ve seen that same rubbing happen many many times in all kinds of bikes. Never thought of just turning it once, and be all-set. Thanks dude !

      I ordered this bike a couple of days ago and I am really happy that I saw this video. Bike is not here yet but when it comes if the rubbing happens to me I know what to do 😄

    One more related line comment. I recall on my son's Canyon Neuron Young Hero and my previous Spectral CF 8, both of them had this too large of an exposed loop for the derailleur line coming out of the chainstay into the rear derailleur. Made me worried about branches/rocks hooking up and tearing out or damaging the derailleur housing and/or cable. Seems like Canyon still needs to work out these important details which quite frankly is concerning for a large and popular MTB brand in Europe at least with many successful sponsored pro riders.

      Yup, agree entirely! I commented on this specific long derailleur cable issue in a previous video with my Torque - can only hope Canyon’s listening

    I have a brand new 2022 Spectral AL 6 29er. It has the same exact problem with the rear brake line rubbing constantly against the rear wheel's spokes. So with at least 3 known Canyon bikes with the same issue, I'm sure that the techs who setup the bikes prior to boxing are doing this on purpose for some reason. I emailed their tech support to see what action they recommend. TBH I was hesitant about buying the AL 6 due to the exposed lines (both sides of rear triangle under the chainstays). I compared the rear brake lines in my Intense Spider and my son's Specialized Status and they don't have this design (rubbing problem). I'm glad I watched this video b/c I didn't notice it on my bike until after I watched the video.

      It sounds to me like someone who’s building didn’t get the memo. Definitely update us with what Canyon says! Glad this video helped!

      @@GlobalTrailGuide My spectral mullets hose is very far away from the spokes. what i do have is alot of chain noise when pointed down.

      I just removed and flipped/turned rear brake caliper like you suggested in your video and it solved the problem afaict. Maybe they don’t test ride the fully assembled bikes at the factory so don’t notice this setup mistake? Thanks!

    • @GlobalTrailGuide
      @GlobalTrailGuide  2 роки тому

      @@MrSupermugen nice to hear that I'm not overexaggerating the chain slap and that it is in fact noticeable... I suppose we have to credit the manufacturers though for getting bikes so quiet that all we notice is chain slap now.

      @@greatghettoful excellent, so glad to hear this helped! And correct, I can't imagine they're test riding any bikes, just building in a stand, without ever sagging the bike to realize the cable get's pulled out a bit more and pushed in towards the wheel.

    Hi,
    could you please help me with this one? canyon support couldn't... I'm looking for an information on the shock eyelet hardware dimensions. Could you please tell me what is the upper and lower eyelet bushing dimensions? I need to know if an offset bushing would fit.
    Thanks a lot and keep it up.

    Id like to know why the cables are so damn long on my Spectral. They could all be like 6” shorter, looks stupid in the front.

  • @OxxidCZ
    @OxxidCZ 2 роки тому +1

    Surprising you ditched the ZEB and went for less stiff fork like the 36 (z1) :)
    BTW how do you like the rear shock?

    • @GlobalTrailGuide
      @GlobalTrailGuide  2 роки тому

      Already had the coil fork and I like the coil feel. Though I have been contemplating trying the Zeb again.
      Shock works pretty well, feels like a super deluxe. Recently started wishing it had low speed compression adjustments for easier tuning.

    I just put an order for the Torque CF7. I had to go for carbon, because the aluminum frame lacks the flip chip to raise the BB.
    BB drop -30mm is way too low for the technical trails I ride.

    • @MrSupermugen
      @MrSupermugen 2 роки тому

      then you bought the wrong bike.

    • @GlobalTrailGuide
      @GlobalTrailGuide  2 роки тому

      I’m not going to get into a “my trails are more technical than yours” battle… but I’m riding crazy technical trails. Any modern enduro bike is going to be similar in height. The BB doesn’t seem low to me at all on trail. However, I’ve owned many other low bikes already and I’ve adapted my pedaling to account for that.
      Regardless, I think you’ll enjoy either frame material 🤘🏼

    Just got my torque here in America, and realized mine came with different brakes(dominion) and we didn't get that color option😮‍💨, makes me wonder what else is different

    • @GlobalTrailGuide
      @GlobalTrailGuide  Рік тому

      Dominion brakes, interesting! And yeaaahhh, still no Lil’ Moine in USA… but interestingly it appears it’ll be available in Canada in 2023 🤔
      But to your point, it is common that bikes will be spec’d slightly different for different markets. It’s also common that components will be changed mid-run based on what’s available to get them fully built and out the door. Nearly all manufacturers include a note in the fine print about how specific components are subject to change at anytime

  • @woutervanteerling

    Why did you went for the Alu version VS the carbon frame?
    I want this colour so bad but cant see myself choosing the cheaper alu setup, will be expansive to put all the good stuff on it

    See this recent Pinkbike Spectral AL 125 review: ua-cam.com/video/WWqFh4WQ8jU/v-deo.html the rear brake line doesn't seem to be oriented to cause rubbing on the spokes. So either the mechanic installed differently, or someone noticed this and fixed it out of the box.

    • @GlobalTrailGuide
      @GlobalTrailGuide  2 роки тому +1

      Without a behind the scenes look at Canyon’s installation / packing processes, it’s too hard to say. It could be a team making the same mistake or it could be a single person making the mistake and it’s just luck of the draw on who built the bike 🤷‍♂️ or maybe it’s something else entirely. Just glad that we can help each other out with the solution!
