I love her.She is the smartest person, I believe, who has been alive in my lifetime. When she speaks, she's hypnotizing, also. Her books have changed my life. I'm not black, maybe I wasn't who she intended her stories for, I just feel honored to have been able to read her thoughts on paper.
Don’t be ridiculous! Of course you were/areher intended audience. We are human beings- she writes from a specific location sure- but ALL artists do. She is The American novelist. Her work is sublime, intellectual philosophical… Spiritual. She is the Great Mother of American letters.
I am blessed to grow up in a time that women of such substance and intelligence were common. this is what we meant when we sais that black is beautiful. My sistas are all that!

Hate doesn't always have to initiate from misunderstanding; it can actually be prompted by someone's insecurity, jealousy and knowledge that this woman has a sense of self in all of her being black. And they just may not like that
Her voice reminds me of Randy Crawfords' voice so soothing and calming. She can andulate her voice without raising it, she narrates, expounds, explains, elaborates without a hitch or any vocal crutches. Which in itself is remarkable.
As a white women she has taught me so much of how to be a real friend to my sisters of color, to listen to them and their fears they had different fears than myself and its important we know the difference- it brings cooperation between us. I was 14 years old when I was first introduced to her writings as I was attending school in Oakland CA - been in love since...
The last 5 minutes of this video are also amazing! Who did this collage? Unbelievable how these modernist, avant-garde and surreal paintings come together very well in this manner. Image of a century, its intellectual streamings, and people are given through this.
Mother love me keep me warm Mother loves me, keeps me warm, nurtures me, cares for me, and calms me through the storm. To help me mother, help your baby to be strong, nothing more. No Money, is A Mercy, can The Bluest Eye find a Rainbow a Home? For Frank and his Sister here's a poem. I love you, Mother, I thank you everyday, love me, keep me warm, nurture me, care for me, show me what is right and wrong. Your love has kept me, in the light, words that make a man cave bright. And when I go to her at night, she rocks me in my cradle, so I sleep tight. I love you Mother. I Thank you everyday. Mother loves me, keeps me warm, nurtures me, cares for me, and calms me through the storm. To help me Mother, help your baby, to be strong, nothing more. Thank you Toni, for I've been torn, and my mother left me in the storm. By Eddie Campagnola Edward Campagnola, "Directions to the Dumpster" & Pen name "One Directions to Mercy Street"
She has very limited view of gender, doesn't look beyond the traditional notion. Women as expression of motherhood and dedication as in Beloved and now- men as the material for running away and triumph? Like, what?! That's so annoying. She writes well but what she writes is often close-minded!
“It’s not possible to constantly hone onto the crisis, you have to have the love, and you have to have the magic. That’s also life…” wow, Toni the woman that you are!❤️🫂

46 isn’t young, but it seems like Toni didn’t really get started until she reached middle aged.
It is young considering she lived to 88
0:46 but why?

He is hanging on her every word…

Have you read her work? You misunderstood what she said.
