The local Women's clinic will benefit with this great Baby pattern. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. This was a God sent. I will watch you Vlog all the time.
Beginner sewer here!! You are phenomenal!! Everything is described soooo in depth that even though I've been sewing for just a month, this makes perfect sense! Thank you!!
I am a beginner sewist... I stumbled upon your videos and I am hooked. I live your videos, you make sewing so easy, thank you so much. Wish everyone else could make learning to sew as easy as you do. Thank you so much. Keep videos a coming please!!
PLEASE TEACH US HOW TO MAKE A NEWBORN BABY ONSIE!!! There’s a lot of tutorials of baby onesies out there but I like how you explain the steps so easily I made this hat for my moms, friends, daughter. Her daughter is having a baby boy I am so exited to make more of these cute hats thanks!
Your tutorial videos are great. Colorful, joyful, to the point yet informative, cute, refreshing, a professioal etc. And, we greatly appreciate you sharing your sewing/craft ideas and techniques. Truly, you inspire. Thank you.
Great video Dana as always! Love the close up shots for those of us who are extremely visual :). You do excellent work and it is highly appreciated because you make sewing look so fun, and easy. Thank you for your continued dedication to do so!
Omg , how awesome is this!!! I cant wait to make one for my grandson, who is going to be here by March 2018!! My daughter found out only yesterday its going to be a boy!! Yay!
Thank you for your wonderful instructional videos! You make it all look so “do-able”! I am definitely going to try this! I like the way you always seem to be having fun with your projects! That is very inspirational!
Dana, will you teach us how to make Christmas stockings or a tree skirt? p.s: Everything I am learning to make in my new machine, I learn it from you. Thank you, you’re a great teacher!!
This is super cute!! I sew all the time for my 2 year old daughter but I'm due in about 6 weeks with a baby boy and I was trying to think of some things I could sew him! Is this a newborn size pattern?
Just discovered your channel and I love your detailed, complete and fun videos. We are definitely beginners and are looking for an easy baby sleep sack/nightgown pattern. Thank you!
You could include a lining if you'd like! Sew two hats and sew them together at the hem. Sure! Even without a lining the hat is still plenty soft. We're using soft knit fabrics, so everything inside is soft and cozy.
Can you make a video about Shirring like you would on a toddler dress?? Ive been trying to learn how to do it but I have a singer sewing machine with a top loader bobbin, and I still can’t figure out how to do it. :) I love how easy to follow your videos are! Thank you in advance Dana!
Sorry about that. Videos take a good amount of time and resources, to make them high quality. I do them as quickly as I can! Thanks for watching :) - Dana
Thank you very much for your videos I just bought my first machine for the purpose of sewing my kids and my nieces and nephews clothes and things I just subscribed and I’m watching for more do you have any videos to show step by step to creat a baby T-shirt or shorts/pants romper
Awesome! I have a video for making a t-shirt here on my channel (juse use a baby size shirt to create your pattern piece): ua-cam.com/video/qAIfrCViTBY/v-deo.html
Dana, I've watched several of your videos sewing for our new granddaughter. thank you so much for all your lessons. I need a new sewing machine. I sew several different projects & fabrics. Do you recommend Baby Lock?
Aww thanks! We shot this video a while ago, so my hair is back to being long, but seeing this makes me want to cut it again! Maybe I will :) Thanks for watching Dara! - Dana
Hello Dana, thank you so much for sharing all these cutie , creative designs and tutorials. I have made some of the tote bag from your tutorial and I love it 😍 Could you please share a tutorial on how to make a Tutu for little girl , my daughter goes to a ballet class and I would love to sew one for her. Thank you so much again
1. For a dart, it’s better not to do a backstitch at the end. You leave 1-2 inches of thread and then make 3-4 knots & cut the threads. 2. It would be preferable to sew the font and back pieces BEFORE doing the hem.
Great video, but I just have to say sewing with knit fabric can be quite tricky at times, at least for me anyway! For anyone having issues with the fabric getting stuck in the feed dogs, I found it helpful to lower the presser foot pressure and using a walking foot.
I've only made it 33 seconds into the video because your hair is so distractingly beautiful! Cut it out! 😉💜 Gorgeous hair for real. OK, back to baby hats, I'm about to be a grandma in a few weeks!!
So great thank you! Could you teach us how to make a baby bonnet? The ones with the tiny ruffles( basically brimless) are so adorable but we cannot find a pattern anywhere
In this video I'm using a Baby Lock machine called LYRIC. You can read more about it on my site: www.madeeveryday.com/2014/11/my-new-sewing-machine-and-how-to-pick-your-own.html/ And you can see more about it my video here: ua-cam.com/video/MRE4TABLswU/v-deo.html I also just got a new Baby Lock machine called "Brilliant" and I love it! (it's very similar to the Lyric)...and it's part of a whole series of machines called the "Genuine Series". You can see all the Genuine machines here: babylock.com/genuine
Why did you sew the cuff before the main seam that joins the front and back? Surely sewing the main seam before the cuff will ensure that the cuff is even? I'm just wondering
Yes, you can definitely do that. That's what I prefer to do for most projects---it looks more polished and finished. I've found that with this tiny size, and with the knit fabrics, that sometimes people tend to get too much stretch in the hat as they sew the hem in the round, so that's why we sewed the hem first. I often do this for baby leggings too. But FOR SURE you can do the hem at the end! Dana
Hi Dana, Where can I order the "super cute" KNIT fabrics you show in your "How to Sew a Baby Hat Video"?. I can't find any cute KNIT fabrics in the fabric stores in San Antonio, TX. I am NEW at sewing and I LOVE your videos. Thanks in advance.
Hi Maria! You can find lots of cute knit fabrics online (and in shops like Joann) Try Fabric.com, check out Girl Charlee (they ONLY carry knits!) and if you're just getting started, cut up some old t-shirts to use as fabric for your kids. Or purchase some XL t-shirts on clearance at shops like Old Navy and Target. I love doing that! Check out my other video about sewing with knits, which has lots of great tips and resources here: ua-cam.com/video/kYI9AG7pORc/v-deo.html
Hi Geri, it's size 0-3 months....so it will work for some newborns. If it's not small enough, just use a larger seam allowance or trim the pattern piece down a 1/4 inch to 1/2 inch and it will fit more snug! Dana
Thank you!!
awww. Thanks Cassie! Have fun sewing! Dana
I am a beginner sewist... I stumbled upon your videos and I am hooked. I live your videos, you make sewing so easy, thank you so much. Wish everyone else could make learning to sew as easy as you do. Thank you so much. Keep videos a coming please!!
Awww thank you so much Tonya! There are more videos to come! :) Dana
Thank you for this easy and great tutorial. I'm just learning how to sew and I have a grandson on the way...this is timely!

I didn’t know this could be done. Lots faster than knitting one!! Love the idea. Thanks lots.
I enjoy watching you make these different clothing items. You inspire me to do sewing
Just discovered your channel and I love your detailed, complete and fun videos. We are definitely beginners and are looking for an easy baby sleep sack/nightgown pattern. Thank you!
Nice video, very professional! Thanks for making the pattern available for free. I just found your channel and can't wait to watch more.
Hi Dana, isn't it better to include lining as well. It makes it look and feel better for the baby or for present and look professional too.
You could include a lining if you'd like! Sew two hats and sew them together at the hem. Sure! Even without a lining the hat is still plenty soft. We're using soft knit fabrics, so everything inside is soft and cozy.
Cute project! Who knew it could be so simple? Thank you.
Beautiful. And easy for beginners. I really enjoy this tutorial.
Hi, I love this and I am new to sewing can you tell me if you have to use a certain need for a knit fabric? TIA
YAY !!! YOU ARE BACK !!!!!
hahah. Yea. It takes me a while to make videos...so I try to roll them out when I can! Thanks for watching! :) - Dana
+MADE Everyday can u please make a video on how to hem and see fishnet fabric for a beach cover up cuz it's very difficult to see with holes
Totally awesome!!! I'm going to teach my students how to do this in our service learning class. I'm so excited!!

I absolutely love your tutorials thank you

Noelle Banks w
So cute! I'm going to make loads of these! Only thing I would do different is use a twin needle.
Adorable!! If I want to make a hat reversible, do I use the same hat pattern or something different?
I can’t wait to make this baby hat. Thank You
Love this video! We love all your videos! We would love to see a video on how to make a simple night gown for little girls!
Absolutely ADORABLE!
Dear Dana
Thanks so much, loved your tutorial!!!
Woooow fiiiinnnaaalllllyyy ...why you take so long we want a video every week pllllllllllz

Dana, just watched your video. How can I get the measurement for that cute knit hat.
Dana, I've watched several of your videos sewing for our new granddaughter. thank you so much for all your lessons. I need a new sewing machine. I sew several different projects & fabrics. Do you recommend Baby Lock?
I've only recently discovered your channel, but already I find your videos so helpful. Can I request a video for making baby newborn mittens.
Hi Dana, can you please do a tutorial on hat & scarf (for adults)?
Thank you Dana! Very cute! Love your new look also!
Aww thanks! We shot this video a while ago, so my hair is back to being long, but seeing this makes me want to cut it again! Maybe I will :) Thanks for watching Dara! - Dana
I have a new baby cousin and I think this would be a good gift
Thank you for this quick and easy tutorial.
I’m thinking of sewing my friend a matching hat and blanket for her birthday for her realistic baby doll and this is going to help me so much
Thank you so much for the tutorial. How well would this work with flannel fabric as opposed to Knits?
Thanks Lupe! I don't think flannel would work very well here, since you need a fabric with stretch.
super cute I have to try and make that for winter
Thanks for emailing the free pattern. Can I convert this to a knotted baby hat? I want to make one for my son
Thank you so much again
very cute. do you suggest prewashing the knit fabric or not? thanks
Yes, I would pre-wash knit fabrics. Many knits are made from cotton, so pre-washing/drying allows it to shrink before you sew it into something.
I am having a problem finding your pattern for this little hat. Can you help me? Great tutorial. Thank you.
Love this, thank you for the free pattern!
the baby so cute! I'm going try to make the baby hat for my mom's friend
Btw how did you get that adorable white and yellow polka dot background
love this. it’s so easy!
What is the best knot fabric for the baby hat? I love this and am dying to make one
1. For a dart, it’s better not to do a backstitch at the end. You leave 1-2 inches of thread and then make 3-4 knots & cut the threads.
2. It would be preferable to sew the font and back pieces BEFORE doing the hem.

Thank you. My machine ate my sweet baby hat the first chance it got.
Loved this video! You should make a tutorial for baby mittens ❤️
How do u change background of your workspace everytime?😃
Nice to see you again
Thanks for the tutorial!! Does anyone know what size this is?! What baby would it fit? Thanks so much!
I would say this fits a newborn - 6 month old. But you could easily cut your fabric a little bit larger for an older baby.
MADE Everyday Thank you so much!
Love this! How’d you grow your hair so long in 2.5 ish years? So envious! lol.
Haha. Thanks Jenifer. My hair just grows fast :) I love your red color!
Hello will you make a video on how to make a dog blanket and baby headbands?
I absolutely love all your videos, my wish is to one day(God willing) own a Baby lock! ☺😘
good job on your baby hats!!!!!
I've only made it 33 seconds into the video because your hair is so distractingly beautiful! Cut it out! 😉💜 Gorgeous hair for real. OK, back to baby hats, I'm about to be a grandma in a few weeks!!
hahaha. Thanks!
Love your videos! Thank you!
Just beautiful! Thanks!
So great thank you! Could you teach us how to make a baby bonnet? The ones with the tiny ruffles( basically brimless) are so adorable but we cannot find a pattern anywhere
Muito fofinho esse chapéu de bebê.
😍😍😍😍😍
Too cute! I’m doing my November Makes video soon, and this will definitely be a candidate! Sewing with knits, once you’re used to it, is the best!
yes! Knits are so much fun....and always an adventure :) - Dana
The best thing was the model wearing the hat
I love it! Thank you! This is perfect as I see for charity! Any chance you will teach us how to make a cocoon?
ELIZABETH MARTINEZ hi have u ever found a cocoon video?
I have looked everywhere to buy a sewing machine like yours and can't find one anywhere. Even online through the link you posted
I definitely want to make this. Do you have instructions for the matching blanket pictured?
Yes, I have a video for that here: ua-cam.com/video/pQXvnltAWJQ/v-deo.html
Hi great video , can I ask what baby lock machine you have please, I have a baby lock overlocker.. and a brother innovis sewing machine.
In this video I'm using a Baby Lock machine called LYRIC. You can read more about it on my site:
www.madeeveryday.com/2014/11/my-new-sewing-machine-and-how-to-pick-your-own.html/

Hi Dana I really love learning to make these. What are the dimensions of the hat patten and where can I get the patten on your site.
Hey Carol, you can download the free pattern here on my site: www.madeeveryday.com/make-a-baby-hat/
I wonder how long it took to film a scene without the baby crying!! Great job!!
Thanks Dana. I will try out for my baby.
How would you make more of a slouchy beanie? Just add extra length?
Why did you sew the cuff before the main seam that joins the front and back? Surely sewing the main seam before the cuff will ensure that the cuff is even? I'm just wondering
Yes, you can definitely do that. That's what I prefer to do for most projects---it looks more polished and finished. Why did not use a stretch stitch instead? Or walking foot?
What size is the square piece you cut the hat with and the size of the hat? Also how do I sew a lining into the hat?
You can download the pattern piece on my site here, and measure against your fabric: www.madeeveryday.com/make-a-baby-hat/
Ha sold , you had me when your baby friend came on. ☺😇
Dana, is this pattern small enough for newborns? You know there heads are pretty tiny.
Hi Geri, it's size 0-3 months....so it will work for some newborns. If it's not small enough, just use a larger seam allowance or trim the pattern piece down a 1/4 inch to 1/2 inch and it will fit more snug! Dana
I know this has nothing to do with the sewing tutorial, but I noticed your background is always different; what are you using for a backdrop?
Carefully arranged cardstock! 😊
These are adorable
Cute hat, cute baby!
