I realize this video tutorial was put out several years ago, and I stumbled on it as I am an avid watcher of sewing and pattern tutorials. Thank you for one being super easy and calm when you are doing the tutorial and super easy to follow. I just love the little Bear hat so I will be making a total of 7 to match the 7 sleep gowns I have already sewn. Please continue to make more videos as you do a wonderful job. Request if you could do a lap neck /envelope Tshirt tutorial and provide a pattern that would be awesome.
Coolest part was to see you upcycle the shirt to a really cool hat......I will share this with a home eco. group I plan to speak with later this month. Thanks for sharing......Crystal
THANK YOU SO MUCH! I have watched so many videos to pick the best one for me and I do believe you are the winner! I so appreciate it. My daughter will love these. I am going to make some for my twin granddaughters. :)
Just got done watching your video and I subscribed cuz I am going to be a Great Grandmother in October and I have started making things for the baby and can't wait to make these hats. Love them and your tutorial .
I wish everyone’s tutorials were as simple as yours are😍 I’ve been sewing since high school and I’ve been contemplating starting a UA-cam bc I can’t ever find simple easy to the point videos. But you def made it so easy for people to learn🥰 def gonna make my baby some bear ones that’s just too cute
Glad you like it! Yes, this is newborn, but will probably fit up to 4-5 mos. Be sure and check out my bib video and I'll get more baby items in the works!
Thank you for this video ! Could you please tell us how to make a pattern for other size? Because the one you give is for baby but if we want to make one for child or adulte how do we calculate de size of the base and the size of the height? Thank you very much
I can't find any stretchy baby knits! I'm having a nephew and a 2 b decided baby. They need light weight beanies! Do I have to go the thrift store and buy out their tees? BTW, I am a firm youtube non believer... till now! You are my new best friend! I hope that's ok. Grammagator named by my 9 year old grandson (Youngest of three grandsons)
New sewer here, would you recommend using pins/clips when sewing the zigzag part? My first one I made the band came out a little wonky & I’m wondering if pinning prior to sewing would help fix this
I made one, and it seems reaally big for a newborn or small baby. Could you give the original pattern mesurements so I can figure out if I printed it at the right size ? Edit : Just had my baby 😊😊 and I can confirm that this original size is too big for a newborn! Maybe try 10 or 20% smaller ?
The bottom straight edge of my pattern pieces is 8”. The fabric you’re using makes a difference too - some are really stretchy and others not. You can also try reducing the size when printing by 10% (trial and error) to fit a newborn better. I hope that helps!
I’ve been looking for cute hats for my 10 month old to no avail. All the cute ones are for newborns. He’s still bald so I like him to wear hats a lot, so I want to try to make my own. Would this template work for a baby his age, or would I need to make it bigger?
I don't have a baby currently to experiment on, haha, but it's very easy to size it up. Just slash the pattern into fourths and spread them apart when placing on your fabric to cut. I think I'd start by spreading them 1/2" apart. I hope that makes sense!
Oh no, I'm sorry! Some knits have quite a bit more stretch than others, which affects the size, so you could try one in a knit that's not as stretchy. Or, you could print the pattern at a slightly smaller scale to make a bit smaller version. Hope that helps!
Yes, it is, the pattern is there in the blog post! Scroll down a bit and you can right click and save. However, you can opt to buy the printable instructions too, so you don't have to keep referring back to the video. That link is also there in the post :)
Yes, the blog post has the button to download the pattern for free! You can also purchase the printable version of the pattern with instructions for convenience. But the pattern is still free on my site.
Loosen your tension as well ! I set mine to a mid 2/3 and it worked great, when working with stretch fabrics.
Great Tutorial To Day & Explains why the walking foot is needed !!!
I made the hat with ears today for my grandbaby coming in June. It’s so cute! Thanks so much for the patterns.

Can you use stretch thread for this?
If I want to make a bigger hat..do I use the pattern but cut a bigger outline? Does it work like that?
Very cute! What is the approximate age for this hat size? Perhaps 0-6 months? More than that? Thank you.
my grandmother would use a pencile so you don' t break what you already made, than you for the download
Soo cute! Thank you!

What is the measurement used here in the pattern, have no access to printer so this will help. How old baby can wear this
I’m gonna try this❤️
Thank you very much!!
Great tutorial! But what paper size is the printable? A3 or A4
It’s 8.5” x 11”
LOVE the hats. Could you send me a pattern please?
Please give suggestions on where to buy the 95/5 fabric online, thanks
Did you use polyester thread? Can you suggest a brand?
Just wondering if this is for a newborn? Or 3 months? 6 months? Do you have bigger sized patterns?
I think I would put a filler into the ears so I can then add one stitch in the middle to give it depth.
That's a great idea, that would be so cute!
These seem pretty big. About what age are they aimed at?
I was today years old when I learned that I could use the arm of the machine for something. 😮
Hi, the patterns arrived thank you - just an early hickup :)
I went there but the pattern was not free but these are super cute
The free pattern is there! Scroll down a bit :)
