In the Dream Lands, one usually goes down the thousand steps of sleep, meets the guardians and give a visitor a dagger, a robe and a loaf of bread. There is no modern technology in the Dream lands. An aficionado once stated there was likely a thousand year time lag between waking and dream. And so, making a stone axe ain't so out of place. Standard ghoul technology. Otherwise I agree. It needs more splat and shriek and hideous wailing.
I would love it if the player could focus on exploring and have NPCs do the harvesting. Maybe the player needs to pacify the area so the NPCs have a safe path.
So, I get that the game likely won't let you capture enemies (at least on a more permanent basis) until you build a cage, but the fact the capture prompt keeps popping up each time time you get them to half health makes me think you can at least capture them temporarily. Like capture and drag a living enemy to the train to feed it that way. Also, as far as leaning more into the eldritch horror theme. I get the feeling this game will likely lean more into it farther in, but instead of fighting against the horrors (like in most games with such theme) you fight with, and maybe even become part of the eldritch horror. After all, you accumulate madness and feed it to the train to level up. Imagine eventually getting eldritch powers that have you corrupting/destroying the various towns you travel through. Or in the very least, corrupting and commanding the creature you capture and have them fight for you and/or do other tasks (gathering, mining, wood cutting, ect).
Forgive me for this, but hp Lovecraft was horrified of stuff that lived in the ocean. So In short if the old ones did take over, I hope you like sea food because thats about what your gonna be eating.😅😂

Oh I straight up say I hate crafting. Outside games like Minecraft where it's the key element, crafting never works. It's nearly impossible to balance for. 1:55 PAUSE here for a moment. One of my least favorite quirks of the English language occurs in this intro paragraph. "Secreted" has two forms, spelled the same but pronounced differently, with very different meanings. Kinda like the Chinese language it depends where you put the emphasis in the word. And I've never liked the word "secrete" or what it stands for. Secreted (SEE-kret-ed): quietly hid away, retreated from sight, associated with the base word "secret" Secreted (se-KREET-ed): oozed forth, produced and discharged some liquid or gel, associated with the base word "secrete" Okay, thanks for your time. carry on.
A lot of sources _insist_ the former pronunciation doesn't exist, and it's really annoying. I remember hearing James Randi say it that way and was like, "...Why?"
We are all Lovecraft fans since we were kids, we played Call of Cthulhu campaigns, we published several other games and have been in the industry for the last 30 years. Hope we are qualified enough to create a game INSPIRED by such amazing works. Thanks! :)
It's a bit weird to see a mechanical train on the inside and a tentacle monster on the outside. I don't know why, but the immersion isn't there for me. The style of the game looks great though! Must be a personal thing with the train...
idk, maybe it's because it's early in development but it really do just feel like a generic survival crafter. The lovecraft aspect itself is rather lacking even considering the nice visual. There is no imminent threat, there's no rush to do anything other than the madness. The vibe in the overworld is weirdly calm and dare i say clinical
There are so many survival games, that those typical mechanics are a turn-off... but I will watch to see the rest of the game. EDIT: the Madness system is interesting and nice.
I'm sorry but with poe2 out, having just one void ball as your only spell + slow ennemies/combat mechanics, it wont cut it for most of us. Add diversity to combat mechanics, less dumb ennemies,...

Yeah, this goes on the wishlist with some hopes. I want to add to your comments about theme here, with something that kinda gets under my skin about eldritch horror stuff. Lovecraft isn't some rando, he was a dude, he had thoughts and opinions (some of them egregiously, almost cartoonishly horrible, see what he named his cat for example), and the idea of bringing him in as a figure who is gathering people to fight the horrors... I don't know, man. It's like the name itself too, "... Hysterra", like, that's taken from "hysteria" which refers to a Victorian notion, left over from Plato long before, that the uterus caused bad health, and bad mental health especially, for women. It isn't really a generic word for "madness". It's hard to get into the horror if the aesthetic here is only surface.
"SAY-TEE-ITY???" I say "SAH-TAI-ITY." I'm gonna have to un sub. Can't believe I've loved you for so long. J/k of course and according to google we're both wrong. "Suh-tai-uh-tee" I guess. "we wiv in ah satiety" is what that makes me think of for some reason.
Path of Exile 2 is beautiful and smooth. Just started yesterday and even though my expectations were high, I'm still surprised how good it feels. I didn't really play path of exile 1. I got Caves of Qud in my wishlist for the next time it goes on sale.
I dont know. I guess i am an Old Tymer who's gamed for so long but, i am tired of the flash and pizazz that every game has to have now. Massive, blinding, fruity colored strobe lights in every element of the game? No thank you.
