Really like those Yamaha Silent Guitars... great idea for portability/travel, comfort, and they sound great plugged in. I'm not a big fan of smooth jazz, but this band exceptional!
There's also e HD version of this broadcasting..I only have a part of it : A Little Bumpin' in HD, i'm waiting for the others clip..really great sound and image..
They call it slap-happy.....just a bass that was too much in front of the rest of the instrumentation.....it is supposed to be laying down a basic tempo and percussion with low end note patterns, not being out in front with lead guitar like chops and attack.
I didn't eve know who Patrice was! The band is incredible! In between practice sessions, some physical exercise would be in order. I only say that so that we can continue to enjoy this great music. It's tragic that so many great musicians die much too early.
If there was a guy at the soundboard, the volume of the slapping could have been turned down. It was too loud, the bass, in the mix. It overwhelmed both Ritenour's nylon string notes as well as Ms. Rushen's velvety keyboard work.
