What a band. Lee and everyone else stage are incredible..from Festival on the GRP label. When i sold hifi i used to play this track and others. Funky jazz rules. Killer recording too.

Excelente grupo de Ritenour muchos de su vieja guardia mis reconocimientos a todos ellos y claro a Abraham familia de mùsicos leyenda viva del jazz y como dijo en una ocaciòn su hermano Johny uno de los mejores bajistas del jazz.

Lucky generation to get these kind of magic musicians. No others after them. They had opportunity to tour all over the world playing togheter, to record a lot of different kind of music, to sell their works and to get a wide audience. Today ...... musicians don't sell anything, they share their crafts living of nothing, they play alone in their room sending messages in the bottles ( youtube).....sad end of a huge period.

Lee Ritenour, man of many moods, is one of the most gracious artists in the Jazz world; sharing the tune, floor and solos with his band. This classic collaboration is vintage, yet the flavor and charm of the string duo is relentless. Laboriel, Ritenour and Watts are so in sync. So rigorously clean is this Indigenous based Brazilian Chicano punk funk - universal and without borders. However, drummer Gary Novak provides the pocket in which the players dance - literally. Rounding it up at the close is Don Grusin on keys, reeling in the band with his Gospel groove. Gotta go. Track is over,need a refill.
I just watched Marcus Miller and Stanley Clarke before watching this - whilst Miler and Clarke are masters and quite good, Dr Laboriel on the other hand is --- seasoned ! Yes, there is a huge difference. If Bassists were food and drinks, Clarke and Miller would be rich, creamy and expensive yoghurts on a warm summers day. Laboriel would be home-made Roast potatoes, Chicken, greens and gravy - with a plate to spare.
