The craziest thing about Slide Rock Bolters to me, is the notion that they're supposed to build up so much speed on the way down, that they just slide up the next mountain to latch onto and do it again. So it's like skateboarding a halfpipe but mountains
It's the subtle details that really sell that layout. The autumnal shades of the ground cover, the ripples on the water, the giant stony carnivorous mountain fish.
Holy crap that camouflage is godlike. I saw this thumbnail dozens of times and didn't notice the fish. I just thought you had given the mountain a mouth. I'd be food for sure.
I'm 64, and this is the first I ever heard about the Slide Rock Bolter. After pausing your video to Google this monster, I think you did an excellent job depicting this apparently well-known cryptid, and it fits your Wild Imaginary West perfectly! I also like the way you made it a removable part of your Imaginary Mountain Railroad, so you may tell different stories in the future. Thanks for sharing this with us!
Cryptid? Naw, mack, it's a folklore monster, made up by dumb people to try and explain freak rockslides in the lumberhills. There's a whole raft a' dumb critters sawjacks dreamt up, an' don't you believe a one of 'em. "Hodag" indeed. Pff!
I found it once browsing the Cryptid wiki and it introduced me to the “Beasts of the Lumberwoods”, that was when I realised the Slide Rock Bolter was my spirit animal.
I remember growing up being SO bummed the only "cryptid" we had here in CO was this guy. You did him justice and made him look awesome, and actually blend in with the landscape. I love it! I definitely feel otherwise now
I think it'd be great if there were several small, unrelated monsters scattered throughout the area. Like this train is clearly passing straight through their territory
It almost kind of looks like the mouth is the source for a waterfall, which I would now like to believe is the case for all waterfalls. Such great sculpting and paint work!
I love how it makes it now kind of look like the lake/river under the trestle is now entirely generated by the saliva of the rock monster. Just one big lake of monster spit. That is probably where trout get their slime coat from. lol
This is an extremely bizarre creature, but it also looks pretty cool. Plus when I saw the thumbnail I thought it was some sort of giant version of Jaws erupting from the mountainside! 😳
I love that you made one of my favorite legends. It's so weird and outlandish and just remembering that this thing exists, even as a work of fiction, makes my day brighter every time.
im from denver, i can confirm that there are gaping faces in the mountains, its just a part of living here, you gotta carry nature valley bars to satiate their hunger
Looks phenomenal! The monster reminds me of a fish we have up here in Alaska, called an Irish Lord, there just a giant mouth with teeth and spines. Accidentally stepped on one not long after we moved up here and the toxins they carry in their spines made me sick for a few days, could add that to the back story of your monster, maybe add green tips to the spines? Would be really cool! ❤Love your work!!
the idea of a colorado native being attacked by this giant whale and going "woah woah woah, I live here" while whipping out their driver's liscense is so funny to me. I'm imagining the whale going, "ah shit dude sorry. Carry on, enjoy your hike ✌🏻"
I think The human-like front teeth fit quite well into the logic of this creature, since it would want to have it's tongue out, in order to salivate the slope most efficiently, which the blunt frontal teeth allow.
WOW! That thing is awesome! I’m really excited that your sculpting more things. I really like weird, complex stories behind strange creatures. Your channel covers a lot of that, I also think it’s interesting how you use myths and depict them realistically.
Seeing the tease at the beginning of the video I thought the mountain was the monster. This is better. The details on the monster are perfect! Great job, as always.
I had lived in Colorado the vast majority of my life only moved away 14 years ago and I had never heard of this creature which amazes me! Colorado needs more natural tourist predators in my opinion...
I love you Boylei. You have such amazing talent and this genuinely helps me wind down to sleep every night. Thank you so much for making my life enjoyable.
You can actually give the Slide Rock Bolter a natural predator without making the predator bigger or more dangerous. You can just use the worms from I think was your first mine diorama. They attack the Rock Bolter from the top where it's softer, and due to the Rock Bolter's size it has trouble moving around to fend them off, similar to how the Sarlacc from Star Wars is prey upon by the (I think smaller) Krayt Dragons.
This is definitely my favorite video! As a fellow Coloradan, I greatly appreciate the addition of this very underrated monster, and it adds a lot to the Wild Imagery West!
I just googled Slide Rock Bolter the other day when they’d popped up in a book i was reading. Very cool monster….that I never EVER want to meet 😝 Adore your Bolter, looks fantastic!
There's a lot of cool Fearsome Critters that would fit well in your imaginary wild west! But I still want to see some Imaginary Mustangs someday. Magical horses who've managed to not only survive, but thrive in the Imaginary West, gaining some strange powers in the process. Incredibly valuable, but incredibly difficult to break in and nearly impossible to even catch to begin with.
Amazing...some aluminum foil, some clay, and some paint, and finally some IMAGINATION!!! Another great project!! Well.. I guess it's an addition to a project!?!? Thanks for the videos!
Cool update. Drizzling some UV resin on the teeth to look like there is more sloppy saliva dripping would have been a nice touch. I look forward to your videos on Sunday morning with my coffee.
Not sure if anybody's said this yet, but the Slide Rock Bolter as a rough shape looks a lot like the Planet Killer from the original series of Star Trek. Excellent work as always.
This is my favorite video for many reasons. This was one of the first videos I ever watched on your channel after I fell in love with the dioramas you make and have made. You have inspired me to make my own dioramas based on some that you have already made and I have become really good at it. Thanks to you I have a relaxing time enjoying some of the best content on UA-cam.
That's the most Colorado Monster I've ever heard. I bet if I talked to some of the people out in Deckers they would've told me about the Slide Rock Monster.
What a cool mountain creature. And a great addition to the diorama, when I first seen the thumbnail I thought it was a living cave or something like that space worm in the astroid on The Empire Strikes Back. Either way it still looks cool. Love the tourists, and the ripple effects on the water set it off just right, this is a great revamp to an already amazing piece. I look forward to your videos every week keep them coming, and the imaginative stories that come with them.
Love this latest chapter to your Wild Imaginary West. Such a tragedy, the destruction of Rico; now just another ghost town, victim to monster incursion and human miscalculation. Did that poor ranger face the wrath of the survivors, or did he go out like a hero: on fire, with a curse and a smile on his lips?
I would disagree with people who might complain about you "ruining" the diorama with these additions. It's part of the WIW, it fits perfectly with the lore.
What do you do with all your diorama’s after you finish them? Do you sell them? Dismantle them? Do you store all of them in a shop somewhere? Rotate them through your houses decor? Give them to family as Christmas gifts? You have a TON at this point. I’m very curious to know
I'd never heard of that thing before, and I really wasn't sure about it when it was described, but I think it could work after a few tweaks. I'd probably make it more frog-like with little arms and legs, maybe it rolls down the mountain with its mouth open, or just slides down during a rockslide XD Either way, looks great! Kinda wish it had more weird human teeth.
I'd figure its back spines are for defense while it's still young, before growing to such a massive size. Or you could make a Thunderbird diorama next........
The craziest thing about Slide Rock Bolters to me, is the notion that they're supposed to build up so much speed on the way down, that they just slide up the next mountain to latch onto and do it again. So it's like skateboarding a halfpipe but mountains
That sounds terrifying
Sounds cool as hell
That sounds legit painful honestly
I was wondering how they get reset XD
Scary
Have you ever considered writing a story/novel about your Imaginary Wild West? I love the story you’re putting together with All these projects.
I think he is writing a novel, indeed! Said something like that in previous videos.
One could say Boylei is telling a story with his dioramas already. Just not in text, but in visual
Then we need a movie with Jack Black and Nic Cage as competing but friendly monster hunters!!
@@ReginaRegenbogn which video?
But it's ESSENTIAL that there is also an audio book version, and he must be the narrator. 🙂

You, good sir, have an entire stack of years.

I just heard about it from Distractable 😅

Camp Monsters did a fantastic campfire story on this guy. Genuinely gave me chills even though the idea of a giant mountain whale is ridiculous.
Nah, i'd make my own. -not me im too damn lazy

As a person from Colorado I can confirm these are everywhere.
These projects never fail to impress. Woah! This is incredible!
This is an extremely bizarre creature, but it also looks pretty cool. Plus when I saw the thumbnail I thought it was some sort of giant version of Jaws erupting from the mountainside! 😳
Me too. 😮
The fact they only eat tourist is the most Colorado thing about this legend
Absolute #1 BEST DIORAMA MAKER ON THE WHOLE OF UA-cam!
100%
Agreed!
Never miss a post.
Oooo badass! Gives me Expedition Everest vibes
There is Luke Towan.
I love that you made one of my favorite legends. It's so weird and outlandish and just remembering that this thing exists, even as a work of fiction, makes my day brighter every time.
A diorama of the ruins of Rico would be awesome
im from denver, i can confirm that there are gaping faces in the mountains, its just a part of living here, you gotta carry nature valley bars to satiate their hunger
You should do a grave-yard/vampire kind of thing next. Maybe a cemetery that has a secret underground chamber for of ghouls?
love from NOCO, its nice to see youtubers that are fellow colorado natives. Also the entire scene looks like Idaho Springs or Leadville
I think you should start doing more clay on your channel because you are really good at it!!
I can't believe I've lived in colorado for 33 years and had never heard of this creature before
Love the addition of a tourist-eating monster, maybe some baby ones learning the ambush technique from Mum.
that's a cool monster
Looks phenomenal! The monster reminds me of a fish we have up here in Alaska, called an Irish Lord, there just a giant mouth with teeth and spines. They have them in Washington too, so that works with the Rockies scene. Love it!
I wish I had the courage to do things that seem unreasonable but are still recognized by everyone
the idea and the way it ambushes tourists reminds me a lot of a Pikmin enemy
That monster actually does blend in very well !!

I seriously love this and I dont think you should remove it. It really fits in sooooo well!
As someone who lives in Colorado, I find this very cool
I love how you use a mix of making your own figures, and using premade ones. It truly inspires me
Another American monster you should consider is the Hidebehind. I think it would be a really cool diorama that could be viewed from all sides
I’ve lives in Colorado half my life and not once did I know this was a thing
Lmao. All I saw in the thumbnail was a mouth in the mountain. Great job on the blending.
That camo paint job is doing work, from the thumbnail I thought it was the mountain itself that had a mouth XD
Same! I was like "he just gave the mountain a mouth?"
As a fellow native Coloradan I loved this video :)
Seeing the tease at the beginning of the video I thought the mountain was the monster. This is better. The details on the monster are perfect! Great job, as always.
What an amazing project. Throughout my 18 years of living in colorado I have never heard of the slide rock bolter. Thank you!
Same
Those back spines may not be needed for defense, but they probably attract the lady slide rock bolters.
"Winter thinks the mountains are going to eat him"
"I DO NOT!"

Love the Gamey Builds shirt and Gamey Builds-esque story during the painting. Great work
Big amount of work! Thank you for this video!

Your videos are always relaxing even if there are monsters😂 i turn on your videoa if i have had a bad day or if i need to relax and fall asleep.

I was really scared at first but in the end I think all of the additions have pushed this already amazing diorama another step above.
You need to have a traveling exhibit with all your monstrous wild west diarammas in it I would love seeing that you're so amazing keep it going!
The way you made the monster camoflauge into its surroundings really sells it 👌 very natural and realistic for a fantastical creature 👍 well done 👏
That was an awesome add-on to an amazing build, great stuff 😻🤟
You should make a book about this western world of yours.
I'd buy it
The thinly veiled sarcasm is great , you do great work as well I love your wild imaginary west story
Right on! We used to scare the heck out of East Coast tourists with this preposterous critter.
Your clay work is excellent. Reminds me of North Of The Border!! Love this build!
That is truly awesome. Also I have a request, can you do a diorama with a hunter in a cabin in the woods. Then, he gets ambushed by velociraptors.
G'day to you! As always ,well thought out and Made, thanks so much for your Time and Effort!
Love the new intro!
And this build was one of my favorites when you first made it ❤
Lol - awesome! Great addition to the mountain/rail diorama.....
Wow, this is great. That monster is wildly fun!
Love everything about the Wild Imaginary West (tm)! Thank you for continuing to share your world with us!
I would disagree with people who might complain about you "ruining" the diorama with these additions. It's part of the WIW, it fits perfectly with the lore.
Since the theme of mountain monsters came up, I propose to play with it with the “Devil's Tower” in Wyoming)

It’s getting so dangerous in this Wild Imaginary West that I’m starting to wonder why people still live there.
as a flatlander that recently moved west i always keep an eye on the mountains
I'd figure its back spines are for defense while it's still young, before growing to such a massive size.
Or you could make a Thunderbird diorama next........
Fantastic, I think you should add some little scavenger monsters picking the over the bones of the Slide Rock Bolters previous victims
Bro when you get to the "finish" it's going to be dope to see this all together
Brilliant as always. Greetings from northern England
love the new addition of clay models!
I'm loving all this sculpting lately. Hardest working Crafter on youtube!
Thanks, Dan. Appreciate your encouragement!
@@Boylei could you consider making a diorama with Airwolf (a helicopter from an 80s show) shooting down a mig jet?
