Dorney Park is FINALLY Adding a New Roller Coaster! Project 2024 Site Plans & Breakdown
Вставка
- Опубліковано 17 жов 2024
- Dorney Park has filed plans with their local planning commission for approval for a 2024 roller coaster project. At this time we do not know the manufacturer or ride model, however we do know that the ride will be about 162 feet tall, taking up approximately 2.7 acres of land. It will also be built on the former Stinger location. Here, I'll discuss the most likely scenarios we could be seeing!

Glad to see that some of the smaller Cedar Fair parks are getting more attention.
It’s in the middle of nowhere.
*cries in Michigan’s Adventure
@@rollingcoasters1581 same its im in michigan too
Still waiting for KD to get a new coaster....and no a free spin doesn't exactly count.
@@rollingcoasters1581 As someone who lives mere minutes away from Michigan's Adventure, I'm hoping this sudden interest in the smaller Cedar Fair parks means that MiA will be getting something in 2026, for its 70th anniversary.
They should just sell michigans adventure to Walmart
Walmarts adventure 🤣
Walmart would run it worse than Six Flags... just look at the Broncos!
My friend lives 10 minutes from there. Said e1 is hoping for just a "Pet Mouse" at this point.
walmar
Michigan's Adventure should have gotten this ride instead lol
I went to Dorney this year. It had a decent lineup but I felt if it had 1 more good coaster more people might come out there and people would recognize it more
A B&M Dive does makes the most sense, for all the reasons you gave. But I'd much rather see something like HangTime.
First Worlds of Fun getting a new coaster, now Dorney? Glad to see Cedar Fair actually giving attention to some of it’s smaller parks! Hell, even Michigan’s Adventure has been getting a good amount of TLC lately. Let’s hope Valleyfair can get a new coaster soon
Been going to Dorney Park since I was a kid. Now I take my kids there. They have some great rollercosters. Adding a dive coaster would be a prefect addition.
Finally!!! My home Cedar fair park is getting some love!
still nothing for my home park michigans adventure ;(
It’s crazy how much his mock design is identical to the actual layout.
@@user-ex5hs5vi6b yeah I’m impressed
A mini B&M Dive Coaster would be very neat here especially for a small Cedar Fair park you wouldn’t really expect that
I'm excited for Dorney, and my home park is WoF so I'm hoping that the new Zambezi and this project do well enough to show Cedar Fair needs to spread the love around their parks more often. And honestly, if CF went with a smaller scale dive like this for WoF in the next 6 years it would make total sense. (It's not the model I'd want the most but it would be a hit with the GP in Missouri, Kansas, and Iowa)
Maybe do it to parks they see as having potential dorney is near nyc so it’s wouldn’t hurt financially as much as if they did something to MA
Hear me out, what about a vekoma looping coaster. New vekoma coasters are great and since Dorney Park doesn’t seem to be the most favored park by Cedar Fair, they could go with a modern vekoma coaster to test out and see how it does to see if they’ll work with them in the future. Just a thought
I was really hoping for a new generation Vekoma. Not a huge fan of dive coasters. But I'm happy they are getting something.. anything.
Dive Coasters are meh, I agree with you. It's more so for the easily scared GP rather than us thoosies
@@coastaku1954 Spot on. Most dive coasters, after I ride them, I end up saying "that's it?" Boring layouts.
theres also a wing coaster because at 6:34 that instant turn could resemble something similar to the dive drop on gatekeeper for example
No
@@DustyKneezz ?
it’s exciting to see such a high profile investment in this park, maybe this means more for Dorney down the road? Im guessing enthusiasts will prefer Zambezi Zinger but if this dive is a hit with the GP we might see this park get more attention.
Dive coasters are gp magnets and I would have never predicted a B&M to a smaller cedar fair park
The dive coaster made sense in my opinion because we could’ve have a sitdown looper as hydra fills that and a hyper bc we have steel force but gci would fit good there
Most likely a B&M dive or wing. But I’m going to keep a custom zamperla lightening coaster on my bingo card. Since they seem to love them lately.
It wouldn’t be a wing as they have hydra which is a looper
@@staringcorgi6475every element on this new dive is an inversion what are you on about
I agree 100%. As you were going through your ideas, I had already made my mind up about a B&M dive.
BUTTTT..... Six flags anniversary is next year... and I predict a B&M for that park. Rumors have it as a Giga, but I was thinking more along the lines of a dive or a wing rider.
First Worlds of Fun, now Dorney Park! Michigan's Adventure on the table? Honestly, I think so, but it will probably be a family coaster.
im betting on valley fair next
@@theactualjavening Hope so
I also wonder if Dorney would try to take the b & m dive so parks like hershey wouldnt make sense to add a ride like that. I think a dive was possibly in the plans for hersheys future but may have to be scrapped if Dorney takes that model
I really like this kind of detective/forensic work!
Valleyfair next then? They could do with a B&M, methinks.
Dive coaster makes most sense. As usual, great video coasterstudios….
I’m so happy my home park is getting a new ride!
I think a dive coaster from a marketing and financial standpoint would be perfect for a park like Dorney. It’ll bring in crowds due to its vertical drop, and can be marketed as the only dive coaster in Pennsylvania.
Any chance it's a vekoma tilt coaster? It'd be similar to a dive in the layout
I am very intrigued. This has the potential to make Dorney a destination again. If CF puts another coaster here after this in say, 3-5 years, we may see Dorney start becoming a prominent park.
Plus, if that layout at the end is anything close to what this could be (if it is a dive coaster), it's going to be SICK. One of the best looking dives I've seen.
Thanks for featuring my renders! I just posted a full video of it with a POV on my channel!
You did a great job! Very well done!
Omg finally I been going to dorney for half of my life now there's a new coaster finally
If this happens, the Zepher train ride would go right under it. That would make for some awesome views on the train
Spot on my man. I was wondering why that queue line was so massive and when you said B&M dive, it just worked,
100% A B&M Dive. Easy to do with a reliable, proven record and can have great theming potential. Claim for the only Dive coaster in PA is good enough for Dorney. Excited!
The closest park to me and, yes, a dive coaster makes the most sense and here is why. Demographics. Dorney gets most of the NY and Philly crowd which honestly are a bunch of general public. And most of the coasters that get shared on Instagram are dive coasters. Also yes, we don't have any up here in NE. It's a great choice.
Are the um urban people in the northeast aware of different types of coasters and what is good? Most of those people will probably be drawn to the park simply because it’s a shiny new ride, they won’t care what it is. Next year will probably be a busy year with crowded days. Well, there have been more crowded days since covid restrictions eased. Like 2021, 22. We haven’t been to the park since Oct 2019 until one time last October. We got our passes for this year then.
As a North East resident, Dorney is the closest Cedar Fair park to me. Excited to see Dorney get some love finally
Always enjoy the videos
I Agree with you, im hoping the possibility of a gerstlauer or the new Intiman vertical launch. Diver coaster would be great, but probably move the needle for me the least. Anything is good though, much needed at Dorney.
Dorney Park: “We don’t want two launch coasters next to each other.”
BGW: “Hold my beer!”
I was planning on going to Dorney this summer. I havent been in like 15 year's. Can you and Sarah call them and ask to be open by June 2023? Pretty please?
Man would I love to see my home Cedar Fair get thrown a good bone, a B&M dive would certainly do just fine!
If I had to guess. It would be either B&M dive or Gerstlauer Infinity Coaster as well based on the plans. My wild cards would be a Vekoma Tilt looping Coaster and B&M Wing Coaster
It could be an rmc, remember that BGW is heavily rumored to receive one in 2024 despite being near KD
Is there any evidence it's actually an RMC?
@@moekitsune no but there's no evidence to suggest it isnt
4:52 are those footers on the left and right of that thing? If so then its something the track would pass over, under, or through.
Top-2 coasters at Dorney, Talon (B&M Invert), Hydra (B&M Floorless), both are B&M standard model looping models. At 161' tall, with 2.7 acres to work with, this project can only be so many things? I'm with Taylor, B&M Dive. Allthough, I personally feel RMC is not off the table just yet. Like a lot here have said, with my 1 trip to Dorney, felt it was one attraction away, like a main event? Firework show without a grand finale.
Worlds of Fun, now Dorney Park, Michigan's Adventure HAS to be next for something new.
This will be a great addition to the park no matter what it is.
Really hope it’s a Gertlauer Infinity!!! That would be so awesome to have over there and make Dorney stand out for sure especially with Hershey sitting only a good hour drive away!
It has to be B&M that's what I was thinking too. They love B&M for the same reasons they don't like Intamin. They can't afford to buy more problematic rides and when they announced it I literally thought a small dive like emperor or SFFT new dive coaster. Dive coasters are back in and maybe B&M got the price way down with the smaller layouts and trains which also makes sense because the smaller chains don't have a crazy amount of spending money since covid. It would be a perfect fit as well.
Cedar fair doesn't like any manufacturer that's not B&M lol
Cedar Fair slowly giving their smaller parks an addition. Valleyfair next. Michigan’s Adventure in the next 2 yrs with a new topiary
I think that mi adventure and valley fair have some hope if the other bottom tier parks are getting something
Bring back Hercules :) I loved it
That's the vibes I'm getting from the videos
idk looks like a Mack to me for some reason, I just have that feeling. Not sure CF would be willing to spend as much money for a dive coaster for Dorney Park. Mack just built a launch coaster with a top hat over 200 foot in China, so 160 isn't out of reach for them. It won't be a launch coaster, 'cause the plans said it would be a lift. But maybe a BigDipper, Megacoaster (not sure if they still make those they've only made two Alpina Blitz and Storm) or maybe even an Xtreme Spinning Coaster with a lifthill, who knows?
You said the last time Dorney got a new coaster still at the park was Hydra in 05, wasn't Possessed in 08?
What about Zamperla? CF seems to wanna use them nowadays. I hope not but yeah. I wish it was Intamin but you are right. They really need to patch that relationship!
As Dorney Park being my home park, I am so relieved that this is happening and I hope that the board approves the plans for it. Dorney Park seriously needed a new coaster as their last two coasters are hand me downs.
hope they keep this up and give something to michigan's adventure 🤞
This year, worlds of fun. Next year, Dorney. Valleyfair, Michigans adventure?? In 2025/6
Dorney is my home park at I am PSYCHED that we are finally getting something in stingers plot of land. So here's what I'm thinking (hoping)
Vekoma Tilt Coaster - this is a bit of a stretch but it would be EPIC
B&M Dive - something like Emporer at SeaWorld
Intamin Launched Lift Coaster - recently Intamin announced that they would be making a new model like Fahrenheit but with a launched lift.
Dorney is also one of my local parks too. I'm saying be cool to get one of the new verkoma models.
Love to see a Dark Ride!!!
It sounds great, but is there a chance to be a vekoma now that they are starting to come back to NA (like with big bear mountain)?
0:25 Possessed in 2008
Sorry I should’ve clarified- I meant to say NEW roller coaster. Possessed was a relocation from Geauga Lake. Poorly worded on my part
Dive coaster would be nice there aren't any within quick driving distance of the entire area as far as I know
I was just driving by and I was wondering who was the company who owns the park. And I found out there's a new rollar coaster. Coming out which is cool.
Maybe it will be a vekoma tilt? It is similar to a dive but its more unique imo.
What about a vekoma.A tilt coaster will be great their.
Hopefully for Michigan's adventure folks this means a potential 2025 coaster for you guys
A few years ago they had a plan for Gravity Group shuttle coaster, but cancelled it due to covid
You did gloss over Vekoma and S&S, as well as Skyline, Cedar Fair might be trying something new, much like what they did with Worlds of Fun's latest coaster
Cedar Fair hasn't really worked with them on any roller coasters recently, so I left them out since the odds of it being one of those attractions is a lot lower.
What about Vekoma? I feel they would be decent.
I would love to see Dorney get a dive coaster because then Six Flags great adventure would have to pick something else for their 50th anniversary next year… (giga)
I'd honestly be more excited for a Gravity Group shuttle woodie, but given the park's stature a dive coaster would definitely create a bigger draw from the public. I sure hope Cedar keeps feeding some love to the smaller parks.
Make perfect sense B&M drive
Can you rule out a new generation Vekoma? It seems like Cedar Fair might test one out at one of their smaller parks, like Dorney, before bringing one to one of their big parks
Well how do we know its a dive coaater? Is that layout a prediction?
I made a joke about Cedar Fair partnering with Capcom in an Airtime Thrills video. If Cedar Fair does that, then that dive coaster (if it does happen) will be called Cannon Spike after one of Cammy’s moves.
My prediction would be a Vecoma Super Boomerang. That would turn heads and be cheaper than a B&M Dive. Nobody else has anything like it. DP is my home park, and they water park is always packed. They need something with WOW to fill the dry park, and I don't think a mini dive coaster will do it.
I thought Swarm at Thorpe park opening in 2012 was bad. 2008 is ridiculous. I am glad to see Cedar Fair finally giving this park what it needs.
My dad use to call me Dorney..I was the forgotten step-child
Although it'd be B&M-heavy, a Dive would be a solid addition to the Dorney coaster lineup:
-B&M Dive (TBD)
-B&M Floorless (Hydra)
-B&M Inverted (Talon)
-Morgan Hyper (Steel Force)
-PTC Woodie (Thunderhawk)
-Maurer Wild Mouse (Wild Mouse)
-Zamperla Kiddie (Woodstock Express)
Just wished that Shuttle Woodie was still going through...
What happened to that? Did the park or corporate in Ohio change their minds and decided to go steel?
@@robkrasinski6217 idk, covid season killed it, which as excited as I was...it was going to need possessed pulled out...which I'm not about. It's a great ride
I'd love to see a new version Laser that's a launch coaster with a top hat and inversions, though after watching your video, I they'll get the Dive first then they'll add the Laser revival once they start working with Vekoma or Intamin again.
What if they got the first axis coaster???
It's approved
About damn time.
Tilt coaster?
I see Mach or RMC, honest. Heck if they really want to do something different though that puts the park back on the map, an S&S Axis.
I think when it comes to the future of big dippers we'll have to wait till EP opens Voltron to see how good a big scale big dipper could be
Last one does make sense. I’m in the middle of CP, Dorney, kennywood. Hershey and 6 flags of junk America, KD, I live 7 hrs from Carowinds.
Okay… how about Valleyfair now?
Damn
Hershey if they get a dive-
I would think a Gerstauler Infinity could be really cool. But there are big wooden coasters though? Like the park used to have Hercules wouldve made a great RMC. It could still be a fantastic size gravity group shuttle coaster which would be uniquely awesome. Oh and they should buy mindbender after cedar fair idiotically removed "Laser" which wa literally a fan favorite! Ik the latter is a nope but still. But if they add a B&M dive machine since sfgadv/the chain wants to raise prices while giving us nothing yet fiesta Texas gets that sweet cliffhanger model (though it does look designed to be cloned, replace green lantern with one!).
Looks fun. I'm just wondering why B&M can't do a dive loop rather than an immelmann. However, B&M, regardless of the redundancy of the elements, still make the layouts fun enough for variety.
I will throw out a wild card...an S&S ride. That would be awesome, but, B&M is far more likely.
a dive loop would take up almost twice as much space as an immelmann would coming out of the first drop. I imagine that's why
@@CoasterStudios, good point, I didn't know that. Thank you.
ETR said there’s a small chance cedar fair was looking at Velocicoaster so idk if that means Intamin has a chance to make it back on the list or not
I would really hate to see Dorney get a dive coaster because I don't see it as a good fit in the lineup, and think it looks too similar to Hydra (forceless and boring 😂). I would love to see a Gerstlauer in the spot, and it would make lots of sense too. The advertising would be abundant, as it would be a record-breaker for America. Another less-likely option that could happen is Vekoma, right? I know Cedar Fair doesn't work with them that much but they're still a reliable manufacturer and could totally make a coaster with that layout!
Possessed could stay here while the ride is being built.
As a long time Dorney Park patron, and 2nd year pass holder, I'm so excited for this!
About Time.
The part where you said it will be no point of putting a RMC in Dorney when Hersheypark will be getting one 3:24-3:35…what about SFOG with TC and FSA with ArieFroce One? They are like 45 minutes apart. 😂
I was hoping for an RMC but we just got another head knocker
B&M surf coaster
Is there hope for MiA?
So thier finally building on the remnants of the zoo? Nice
Dorney is my home park I live right next door and really hoping for somthing good
The dive coaster sounds about rite.
