- Hey all, bit of a Jethro Tull deep cut for ya today with just an awesome classic riff. One of Martin Barre's best from one of Jethro Tull's heaviest early tracks.
Hope you enjoy. Cheers, KDA
Thanks !! Tull lessons always most welcome and appreciated
A great refresher for me. A song I haven't played in years. Thanks Kelly!
Dear Mr. Allen !
You are The Master !
Thank You for your attention and disposition to teach for us. ( . . . please sorry my "bad english" ! )
I hope all success to You.
Luiz Henrique from Brazil.
Have long loved JT, Martin Barre, and this tune! Funny reference to JT lyrics on Loudermilk!😂🎸🔥🎶
Love Jethro Tull, the first 3 albums blew me away. This Was, Stand Up & Benefit. I's a New Day Yesterday but it's a Old Day Now. Top Shelf Kelly as always ♪♫♪♫♪♫♪
"this was" is probably my favourite tull album. the liner notes are fantastic. green text on yellow (or vice versa) I think IIRC it says the album wsa recorded in something like 2 days!
Yep. I've been playing this one for many years. There's a lot of good tracks on Stand Up.
Hi Kelly, oh I know this one well. Was a Jethro Tull fanatic, lol. Thanks 👍
Arguably one of the best songs ever written. My all time favorite. Been listening to this song since I bought Stand Up in 1969. I'm 73 and I have to say I listen to this song almost weekly. Bass player Glen Cornick makes this song come to life. Without that heavy bass, the song is a bit shallow. Sadly Glen left the band, I believe after the Benefit album. Being a bass player, I loved to watch and hear him play. Not to steel Martin Barre's credit, as he is awesome.
Great lesson Kelly, thank you 👏🎸
Wow that was a blast from the past thank you brother 😊
Thank you Kelly.
My older cousins turned me on to the album when they (successfully and gratefully) discovered I was into kiss when I was in around 9th grade in probably 1980.
Still have Stand Up. My personal favorite Tull album.
Never thought to try the guitar in this one. Glad I caught this. Simple and cool.
I’d only figured out the (I can’t seem to recall the title) dirty bum song and Locomotive Breath and I guess Teacher previously. Always just must’ve been stumped with that darned flute masking the other stuff. Though Stand Up still doesn’t strike me as a guitar record, apparently I need to revisit it asap.
Nice one Kelly. Thank you!
Great, thanks. One of my favourite Tull albums, think I can learn this one.
Wow that's so cool you brought that song up. I've haven't heard that one in years. Thank you because I forgot all about that one. It is a really good song.
Very odd, but I watched and listened to this song about 2 hours ago on UA-cam before this notification came up😯😲😳😮😧
A Great Ol' Song!!! The version from Jethro Tull Bursting Out is really incredible. It's played a little bit differently though.
I'm very proud that I have played this many times in guitar stores. Tull was my universe. Thank you again Sir, your lessons truly are amazing. Their spot on and to the point. 👍
excellent ..i do wind up and cross eyed mary thanx kell
does help with timing when you sing keep it up Kelly great picks
Great riff Kelly. A much ignored Tull classic. Joe Bonamassa does a fair version of this on his New Day Now album.
My God! I haven't heard that tune in years. To the point that I completely forgot about it. Great job on resurrecting the cool and obscure.
Thanks for teaching me a new classic I was oblivious of!
The album version is great but I think the best version of this is on Bursting Out. It's Martin Barre at his finest.
The Bursting Out version is actually the only one I know
Brother… you are the best… great job. BTW…what kind of amp is in the background?
Beautiful work! Random request - Between The Lines : Stone Temple Pilots
Hi great song thanks for the lesson. Could you tell what type of guitar you are playing please
Great stuff-check out Joe Bonamassa's live version on "A new Day Yesterday Live"-about 23 years old now and was my first into to JB-and being a huge fan of Stand Up I was doubly blown away.
Hi Kelly been a big fan for years here in Australia just wondering if you would attempt the Dr Dan them slash plays journey of a fool by Mike batt ?
Kelly please do “Why Does Have to Be So Sad?”
Billion dollar babies lesson! Where it?!
Hey There.... Not Meaning to Get off Subject.... But was Watching You're Tutorial on "Train Keep a Rolling" By "Aerosmith".... and Can't Seem to Get a Answer From Anyone.... But Just How Many Solos and Guitar Work Did "Steve Hunter" and "Dick Wagner" Play on "Get You Wings" Besides "Train Keep a Rolling"??? I Figure if Anyone Would Know it Would Be You....
I'm pretty sure that it was just this track.
@@KellyDeanAllenGuitar Just Researched it.... "Wagner" Plays the Solo on "Same Old Song and Dance" Too.... Thanks for You're Quick Reply.... You're One Helluva a Guitar🎸Player Too 🤘😎🤘
Great job as usual KDA. A request, Yardbirds turn into Earth -

Why this one, because it is a remix that restores Jeff Beck's guitar from deep in the mix where it was originally buried to the proper level. And, no one has posted it yet on UA-cam.
Thanks
