Hello, I have lived down here for over twenty years and I don't speak Spanish day-to-day, (although I prefer to) English is generally spoken everywhere. There's crime anywhere in the world, but here, I am unaware of the areas you mention. There are a lot of local online papers, I just don't read or know of your concerns or read about them. One of the great things, is a feeling of safety. I've never experienced resentment, quite the opposite, a warm, welcoming, family orientated lifestyle, in the sun is the reality. There has been some news in Barcelona with the phasing out of holiday permits, from what I've read, there's isn't any intention for similar to happen here.
