Every single sound in all of this speaks to me just as much as the lyrics, you can see Robert feeling the chords deep!!! this song touches me in such a way that I can't even describe it... just an incredible piece.
Respect to Maneval! The presenter you almost glimpse at the end is Alain Maneval who, thanks the 1981 change of era, pretty much introduced the likes of Japan, Siouxsie, the Stranglers, Indochine and co to mainstream TV (and no, I haven't forgotten "les enfants du rock" with X, Gun Club, Echo...).
I love that they recorded a take for this show and made no attempt to sync the video, the small room, the lyrics falling in odd placements... It's all very disorienting.
The actual audio would have been rough.. They recorded the track first then did the video after for the tv show but in typical cure "punk" fashion, especially Robert made no attempt to make it look like he was really playing it as Robert HATED lip synching and playing to prerecorded tracks for TV. He always liked to make a joke of it. (see that one performance where him and Simon switched instruments with each other)
The music doesn't match the video, it could actually be a different song on the video. Also you'll notice it's not played live, with the tons of overdubs that can be heard.
@jboyxd6573 Faith and Pornography (81, 82) and Disintegration and Wish (89, 92) are my top 4 Cure albums. Personally I truly believe all 10 albums between 78 and 92 are good to great. WMS and Bloodflowers have some good parts.
This whole era touches my soul deeply

From my favourite album of all time....
Stunning
Broadcasted 40 years ago today!

Thank you for sharing this. Great song. I love this album. Such a great time in the cures music.
Lol, smith, Gallup..my best cure line up x
Yes indeed a great lineup. Now add porl and boris to those three. Unbeatable
@@lerxstythe cure with Boris, Porl, Robert, Simon, Lol and Roger was perfect

How can anybody say that Lol Tolhurst wasn't a good drummer? he's a fucking time clock!!!!!
he certainly is. He's not a virtuoso but playing in time is kind of the most important thing right?
@@fluidalchemist68 absolutely right!
he brought the vibe
His timing was impeccable
Only in pornography
This footage is so lit 👌👌

Rob playing the Ovation Breadwinner which was actually a Banshee guitar.
At that time, Colin Newman from Wire also had one.
Now that's a studio, with the lead paint coming off the walls
best cure album!
Never saw this before! Thank you!
Not to be a fan boy here or anything but... gosh, Simon Gallup looks so fucking cool in that video.
This is my favorite

Best era of the cure and the best track from pornography.
Fabuloso
Wow.
♥️♥️♥️
🖤
that eastwood breadwinner guitar sure brought in the bread!!!!
Ovation Breadwinner, Eastwood makes a modern copy 😉
@@LordFuzzman thanks for the correction brother :)
Al Jourgensen’s style in 1982, Al did it in 1981

anyone know the tempo of this Recording?
I bought the Pornography album before I had anything to play the CD on !

It is this song, but the audio you’re hearing is a demo they did at Rhino Studio
@@fundrive thanks for the clarification mate
@@fundrive , exatamente.
@@TUBOIMAGEM I would have appreciated it if you commented it in English instead of making me have to go to google translate x
@@fundrive , the same music, two guitras, not alive!
They lost it totally after this album...but what a way to go out...
Very true. British music died in 1983.
Are you kidding???

Why does Simon look like he has cleavage here?
