I’m amazed how helpful the Police are! To bring so many officers and resources consistently and being so friendly about it as well. I don’t think they even knew what the magnet was stuck to beforehand. How good is that! Is it just Dutch Police or is there no crime and they’re bored or both? In any case great job & much love to the Police for what they do!
its Amsterdam so offcourse there is crime, but like they said, its a quit sunday morning so they have the resources to come and help.
Dutch Police is much more Chill/friendly then most others.

I absolutely love how easy going the police there seem to be. After seeing how some of the police in the UK treat magnet fishers, this is very refreshing.
Because UK police are over-stretched enough as it is, without having to go out to every gun that's found in a canal!

I lived in Holland for 5 years. The police in the Netherlands is truly the absolute number one in Europe. I wish every country had a police force like this. Now I'm back in the Czech Republic. It's a difference. .. (I'm a carpenter, not a robber :D )

I think it’s crazy that you guys keep finding these bikes, safes, and God knows what else, in the canals out there in Amsterdam! You and some of the local magnet fishers/treasure hunters out here in the U.S. are starting to inspire me to try my hand at magnet fishing. The scuba diving, I still need proper training for, so not just yet for that.

The city of amsterdam municipality fishes out 6000 bikes a year from the canals... so there must be tons of them left

That BMW was wild!!! It's absolutely insane the amount of stuff you all pull out of the canals!!! I know Ramone could make some amazing pieces of art from that!!!
As nasty as the BMW looks, I bet 10 minutes with a proper hose sprayer or pressure washer would clean it up tremendously.
They should organize a canal clean up weekend. Groups of divers and magnet fishers could locate items. Then crews with cranes, dumpsters, boats, and other people assisting in the retrieval process could work together. Of course, there would be data collection and local police presence for assistance if needed. Ps. There are special towels available to absorb chemicals that are spilled when vehicles are pulled from the water.

Yeah it seems like the police get mad when they get called out for stuff like this. I watch a couple of the other UA-cam channels, sometimes the police are cool, other times not so much.

Amsterdam has seen a fair amount of liquidations in the last 10 years. I wouldn't be surprised that this bike was used for that.
even more, bags filled with iron stuff, or even anchors, heavy chains aso, are used to dispose of bodies in pools and canals, would not be surprised if one day they pull some bones attached to it ...

You may want to find out if the cities you visit have metal recycling available. I live in Florida and we have 2 giant plants that pay several dollars per pound of metal you bring in. They give more money for copper and steel than for aluminum. If those places are available, you might rent a truck for the day so you could get money right away unless the poluce are involved. We go in with a full truck which gets weighed on the way in, then dump everything and the truck is weighed before we leave with cash in hand. Its a big help for the city and would be for you so its a win win for everyone. You may need to get a salvage permit but I do not think they cost very much.
