Heard 'Wedding Dress' for the first time, today. I was a big Call fan, especially the Only Hope album and others in that time frame. Great stuff here, and cool to hear that you are still trying to be AUTHENTIC! That is what we, the People, are clamoring for, Authenticity. We are surrounded by the opposite. i think more chrstians should do this. i think in the community there is this sense of having to be "politically correct" so to speak. to make sure your just enough churchy but you know sometimes you need to share the hard truths. and not tip toe around it. and i wish more christians would do that. it makes it more real and less holier then thou.
I don’t argue the truth in the word of God which Derek is referencing but there is another side to that coin in which our identity in Christ is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. And to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness. So, if you continue to pray or meditate over yourself that you are a whore, it will be a self fulfilling prophecy. But our battle is to repent (meta-noia) meaning change your understanding of who you are in Christ verses who you once were without Christ. I get the provocative nature of the song, and love it as a powerful tool of awakening. But to live here forever would mean to stifle growth and maturation in identity with Jesus Christ. It would also mean to diminish scripture as it refers to us as the lost pearl of great value, whom the Lord gave up all He had in Jesus to purchase us.

This may be why he denounced his faith in Jesus.
