Thank you! Just bought a 2014 MDX and am going to try this to solve the shudder issue. No Acura dealerships near me so hopefully this will work without the software update.
Hope it fixes your shudder issue, thanks for watching! Not sure how much the software update helped as is was noticeable after second time 2 dealer...think it just helps adjust to prevent more than anything. Issue is premature failure of fluid I believe
Just came back from Acura dealership asking about potential problems with transmission after doing the flush without changing the filter. Person at the dealership who is an older very experienced Acura employee told me that he had an Acura from 99 that his son is still driving and he has been changing the transmission fluid without changing the filter and never have any issues whatsoever. In order to change the filter in your transmission, you have to take one part of the transmission off which can be a very technical task. Inclusion must say that this video is exactly what you need and if you go to the dealership to get your transmission fluid changed or to do three step process there will not change your filter :-) :-)
Your son cracked me up 😂 Sounds like a cool kid. You're doing great, Dad! Thanks for this video. This is the best detailed video I've found so far and I've been searching for three years. 👍🏾
One of the best videos and additional information that I ever saw on UA-cam .. thank you very much for the detailed explanation and advice on resources! Please keep it up!! 🥇👍💪
At the dealer. Mine was free under warranty. Not sure if free out of warranty. Might get them to do it for free with an oil change if you show them the bulletin and complain.
Thank you for all of your awesome work/vids. Countless times you helped me. LOL I know it is not about this vid but, should one snake a clogged sewer line before water jetting it?
A week of driving between each drain and fill, so maybe 200 miles each week. First flush was at about 50K then again 55K (performed by dealer in warranty), then most recently at 150K.

I need to ask .. just got info from a experienced mechanic who said never to change the trans fluid without changing the filter bc it might pull the shavings from the magnets in the filter .. any thoughts or suggestions???
If there is a filter that is maintainable agree with changing it. Definitely don't agree with the physics of draining it and it removing the shavings.....that could be an issue flushing under power and pressure, but not simply draining and filling.
The full flush "fixes" as issue is early deterioration of fluid. Need to do 2 times driving in between flushes. The software adjusts to help prevent or delay further.
@@thebumpchannel oh OK cause I got a Tlx Type S and it has 63,000 miles on it and I wanted to do it but I was scared if it messes up and if it messes up, I have to spend $7000-$8000 just getting a new one
Did you notice your MDX transmission judder more going up hill? And how many miles approximately did it have when you heard it judder? Thanks for posting this! I never went to the dealership to get this looked at. I will now thanks!
Noticed soon after buying used. Dealer did it twice under warranty 2nd time was a world of difference. Mainly noticed at excelerrating from stop at lower speeds not necdesarilly hills. Heavy on the gas was less noticeable for me.
They serviced the teams twice under warranty? How’d you manage that? I’m the the same position and trying to get them to service it and replace the expired tires they sold it to me with.
@@lucasj2056 they didn't fight me over it too much. Just told them it was still doing it. Maybe the just drained and filled the first time versus a flush (3 times). I think it causes they have a design issue that causes fluid to fail and breakdown prematurely. They are able recreate and see the issue and see on their test equipment ua-cam.com/video/-2RXOdTRHVk/v-deo.html
They can do on a lift or rollers or drive it as well. Shifting to all gears. I would think most dealers do this, but some could skip corners I guess. If they follow the service bulletin they do this.
@@snehithbejawada9311 If I do I will be sure to add a video. I think access is the only issue. Most commonly used one is just 2 hose clamps as its an in-line filter.

So nice of you. Glad you enjoyed it and appreciate the comment!
The MDX transmission changed after about 2016, to a 9-speed German trans. It requires a different fluid, ATF 3.x (and it's very pricey).
Yikes! Appreciate the comment!
thank you so much for the detailed video but i had one request how would i update the sofware

Both generally accomplish the same thing. Depends on a lot of things, I guess.
Spectacular video and information, Sir. 10/10 🍻
Thank you kindly. I appreciate the comment!
Great video, thanks for making it. What size adapter is needed to undo the drain bolt? Thanks!
3/8 " socket
Is there a Filter on 2016 MDX transmission that needs changed?
I believe there is an in-line one. Haven't tackled that yet.
The zf 9 speed has a permanent filter that cant be changed without pulling the transmission
Good work!. How much time has the second and third been spaced respectively since the first fluid exchange?
A week of driving between each drain and fill, so maybe 200 miles each week.
First flush was at about 50K then again 55K (performed by dealer in warranty), then most recently at 150K.
Awesome tutorial!
How many miles / how long did you drive between 1st and 2nd round , and 2nd and 3rd round reflush ?

I am trying to replace transmission filter on 2016 mdx but I couldn’t find the filter location
any luck? I haven't tackled the filter yet.
Is the software upgrade required for this issue?? Or will the fluid change solve the issue by itself ? Btw , great tutorial!!!

How many miles did you change it? And was it its first time?
Actually third time. Dealership did twice under warranty. 140K now.

Just what i need it. My mdx got new transmission around 2½ years ago, 30k miles on it already...do you recommend to do the flush at this point?
I believe its every 20K to 40K

If you have t do this 3 x, and drive in between, how can the deanship accurately do this in one service? Are we being cheated?

How soon do you do your flush, since you said it has to be done 3 times
3 drain and fills = 1 flush
Drive between each drain and fill, shift into all gears
Do at maintenance interval for your vehicle
@thebumpchannel appreciate it so much
Do you have a transfer case change video?
No sorry. Getting ready to tackle the rear differential. Thx for watching!
Greatly appreciate your video!
How many mile did you have on your MDX? These a lot of disagreement on transmission fluid change/flushing from deal vs owners manual.
150K now. But had judder at 50K in warranty
Great video 💯

so to be clear, I need to do this 3 times? 12 bottles of Fluid is needed?
Yes sir!
I did mine after driving for a week in between to cycle fluid.
If your fluid is that dark you waited far too long. It’s cheap preventative maintenance to change it while it’s still red.
Yeah, these have issue with premature failing of fluid (hence the bulletin)
