- On this week's episode of GOLF's Subpar, Heisman Trophy winner Johnny Manziel joins former PGA Tour pro Colt Knost and his close friend and on course rival Drew Stoltz for an exclusive, in-studio, interview. Johnny details his love for the game of golf, the most he's ever bet on the course, dealing with his rapid rise to fame, and the true story behind his Rodman-esque Las Vegas trip during the season.
Johnny seems like a very humble young man. We all make mistakes and we learn from them. I wish Johnny nothing but the best.
I met Johnny in Vegas last Memorial Day weekend at Hakasaan. He had a bunch of models with him and some buddies. Looked like he’s having a good time and was nice to us.
His last bowl game was the best college QB performance I ever saw. He loves the Action, needs the competition and gambling. Golf helps him stay off drugs, good for him.
He literally just did a video Podcast where he was smoking weed and drinking. I don’t believe weed is a dangerous drug BUT if you’re a recovering addict you should prob stay away from weed and alcohol.
Ever been to a hi or higher end golf course? Lol simple to find "stuff" and buttoned up places wym
You know, people will always mock Johnny’s name and criticize his off the field antics, but I couldn’t imagine my 19-20 year old self eating dinner with Lebron in miami and hopping on a PJ just to not miss class. I gained a lot of respect for Johnny. Miss seeing this guy make plays
Agreed. I think his issue was that he came from a lot of wealth so playing football wasn't his only way out. He made decisions as if he didn't care about the consequences- spoiled child was his issue. Glad to see he's in a good place nowadays, and I wish him the best moving forward - JD
He has cte bro
Dave Watkins you can bang chicks and still have a successful career. Lebron cut him off cause he’s a clown, that says a lot. A lot of athletes have been in similar situations and not fucked it up like him.
Ben L don’t nobody give a fuck about bron hell hes almost a bigger clown than Johnny. He needs to shut up and dribble
Tyler Stanley you must be fucking stupid to even say that lmao 😂 no knowledge whatsoever just stfu
I am not an A&M fan but Johnny is bar none, the most exciting college football player I ever saw. You could not not watch him when he was playing.
@Abel Ramirez shut yo low iq azz up kid💯💩
I think he has learned a ton from the whole downfall such a different person I hope he succeeds in something
Lol he won’t
@@iloveyew9984 like you
Ben Mallah funniest part is he has a 7 figure job right now, think you missed the mark
@@Rooksaho Who's Johnny working for now ? Hope he gets another NFL chance if thats what he wants
10GALLEN81 he says he is fine if football doesn’t work out
Great to see this. I always loved (like everyone else) watching him play football, and I know from personal experience, though on a much smaller scale obviously, how difficult a little notoriety and fun can make life at times. I really hope he blazes a path for himself with golf.
He is the Shia Lebeouf of the sports world
Uhh not really. Shia had a great career.
Omg dude come in shia is a way better actor than he is a qb
You’re the nobody of the normy world
Johnny seems like the most down to earth dude
And then he got high.
Waste of talent
I worked for the browns he's a prick
@@xomxhurco So, I take it you're not a fan LOL
Saw Johnny at the Mango Deck, Cabo judging a wet t contest. He tapped my shoulder and said hey guys as asked to get by me and my buddy Román. Super nice dude.
@John Dunbar your funny john
@John Dunbar OUCH!!!!!
Going to Cleveland as a QB is a death sentence.
Johnny keeps it totally real. "One of one"
man has changed his life around , everyone is human . we have mistakes , and as a nation we love to see our hero’s fall and make a great comeback... I hope he gets a chance , he inspired me to do many things in football like him , I hope he gets at least one more shot 🙏🏼🖤
Johnny should make a podcast, great connections for interviews & people would watch to watch Johnny Football
Say what you want about the guy but 5 years removed from the NFL and people still want to talk/interview with him. Johnny Legend.
He's a train wreck.
Much respect after listening to this. He’s been humbled a bit.
We were ALL 19 years old and bullet proof ........Then life happens
That magical age of 25. Why you think your insurance reduced at that age?
This interview was f*cking awesome. Thank you.
Cool dude. Great interview. Should have stayed in school the rest of his time and it would have been epic if the Cowboys had drafted him. Sounds like he’s finally waking up. It was a wild ride. He’s lucky to be alive with all the partying he did. Would have liked to have seen him in the XFL. I guess it really is over now. Who knows maybe it will be Johnny Golf someday!
He still parties. He hasn't changed that much.
I like the way Johnny has matured. He got a raw deal from the Cleveland Browns and being black-balled form the NFL. There was, is and always will be only one Johnny Football. A living legend for Texas A&M University.
wouldn't really say he was black balled. he didn't take it seriously, didn't perform, and had substance issues in the NFL. Doesn't take away from how good he was in college tho
@@bigh92591 Good point. But how come more challenged players get another chance? Dallas just signed Alton Smith who has been out four years from the NFL with multiple issues, Why not Johnny? This is only one case of the same with players who have less talent. Johnny never had a chance because they envy his fame. And Stephen Jones said Johnny was not fit to play in NFL. What about the antics of Zeke Elliot? Jones is a a hypocrite. Johnny is the standard for college Quarterbacks.
@@georgefarias7409 yeah but those guys all produced at All Pro levels. Zeke is a clown but is always a top 2-3 rusher every year. Alton Smith was a Sack monster. When Manziel was on the field he hardly produced other than an occasional flash. Those guys also never missed practices because they wanted to fly to Vegas. I loved Manziel in college, but u gotta stop finding excuses as to why he's not in the league
@@bigh92591 There are no excuses. He went to play for the worst team in the league, the graveyard of quarterbacks. His coach played him a few times and if you see the highlights he did well. Tony Romo was a backup for years. Troy Aikman never won a game in his rookie year. people do not like that Johnny partied and flaunted his fame. That was a mistake on his part but he was a kid. If you have ever read the life of babe Ruth, Johnny is a choir boy. Ruth partied to the wee hours, played drunk, cheated on his wife, wrecked cars. threw dust in the face of umpires, and chased fans into the stands who heckled him. What do people remember about him? The greatest player of baseball. Johnny will be remembered 100 years from now as the greatest college quarterback ever. They will forget all his nonsense. Johnny made one big mistake. He left college early. He should have played college two more years, You can imagine his records had he dome that. You might guess that I am a die hard Aggie.
@@georgefarias7409 Manziel was awesome in college, no doubt. This isn't the 1920's though so the comparison to Babe Ruth is a little off. Babe Ruth also produced in the MLB. Manziel did not. Doesn't take away from his college career. Manziel's biggest issue was that he an addict that didn't take being a pro seriously. not that he flaunted his wealth. Also, name one successful QB of the modern area that partied as much as Manziel.... Go Aggie's
Never seen your channel and may never visit again but, that was and damn good interview. And it is not because your show was not super entertaining, cause it was. I am just not into golf and only wanted to hear Jonny Manziel tell is his story. Thanks for the video. Again wicked entertaining.
Take a shot every time Johnny says “at the end of the day”
Take a shot every time he takes a shot. You're messed up either way. :)
damnn, after the alabama game i thought johnny went back to school and was in heaven, thought he was in pure heaven. but to hear he had to hide and take only online classes was rough
I’m from Cleveland/born and raised/ and am currently looking at the stadium from my window. This dude was loved in Cleveland when he was here. And it wasn’t his play that got him cut...he actually wasn’t that bad. And made some unreal throws. The disorganization of the team/combined with his antics and the media coverage he got combined to end his career. He’s a smart dude. Wish him nothing but the best
Really enlightening to see that he understands he let the other life consume him more then football. He’s laying out that roadmap to downfall so that everyone else can avoid it
Need the Johnny playlist!
"If I took five dollars from you I'd frame it in my game room, guaranteed"
"Well, you're actually down a little $ from yesterday"
LOL
QB in NFL is not fun, its a grind. Jonny F is the type of guy that just wants to have fun. So now he golfs and parties while all his QB buddies grind and study. He is definitely living his best life.
He wore a wig to Vegas and believed it would work lol
Johnnys dad was my boss in 2012-2014 . I remember when his dad put a ovo sticker on his FJ
Ru Mazi yes I’m serious
Ru Mazi I also sold one of johnnys trucks . A Nissan Titan . We had the famous Mercedes
Benz that got keyed on campus at one time on the used car lot lol
Ru Mazi he also brought the HT to work lol
Great interview
That was entertaining. Good job fellas
I really like this dude after this interview!
Always had the perception the the guy way a douchbag... but the more I see him connecting the dots, the more I realize he a stand-up guy that was in a untouchable, protected, and entitled performance based existence! He’s come to grips with reality and trying to be get back to what it really means to be a fun and real guy... albeit still a millionaire!
Johnny Golfball!!
Cool to see how Johnny has matured. Seems like a different guy.
I'm sure Johnny doesn't remember but we played against each other in High school at Riverhill CC in Kerrville TX.
Let it go brother
Let it go, bro!
Chill bro lol let go of your bum azz high school sports career, you didn’t go anywhere with your “talents 😂💯💯🤣👍🏾
(Before C-19) Is it possible to take all online college courses now?
I hated Johnny until this interview
I now can see myself having some beers playing some golf with him
Remember the other spring football league called the Alliance of American Football (AAF) Johnny Manziel played that league what team? called the Memphis Express and suffered head injury.
Anybody under a 12 handicap is a pretty good weekend golfer. For almost 20 years I played with 2 guys who were about 8's. They could bomb the ball and could shoot anywhere from low 70's to 82. Once in awhile one of them would blow up and shoot a 90.
If you're shooting multiple low 70s and use a USGA handicap from the back tees is not an 8 handicap? It's half that atleast.
Jb holmes can shoot and 86 for goodness sake?
"it's Mr. Football"
Played roulette with him at a casino in Oklahoma before the virus started 👌🏼
Did he play inside or outside action?
David Buswa he literally played $600 on black every spin. 💀
@@p_drizzytv I guess Manziel ain't a roulette player. He wouldn't risk any bets on column or dozens bets. A true player will track the dealer's past spins or play sections on the layout.. I know this because i'm a roulette dealer in a casino
how much did 3rd place(-13) pay Colt? nice showing, minus the bar tab?
$6000
Asking Josh McCown for advice is crazy
Seems well grounded, better than I can imagine Baker ending up.
That’s important advice right there when he told Johnny not to get tattoos on private jets because of the turbulence.....been sayin that for years.
Johnny and Coach Sumlin turned a lot of folks into Aggie Fans ....."Good Times"
Both are horrible at what they do. Sumlin should have been fired at half time of the UofA/ASU game last night!
Johnnys a good dude
No he’s not lmao
I guess he's trying to pursue a career in ⛳. I guess we can call him Johnny GolfBall now.
Fuking love you Johnny!! Keep it up homie!
I miss watching Johnny football
I wonder how Johnny Manizel feels about The MLFB?
Johnny should work on getting that pro card
Sad hes not playing anywhere
Great interview. I didn't know the chubby guy was the golf pro. Sorry.
great video ; you can always reset yourself and gain ground again...by the way johnny i got the same hat.. ts my favorite hat haha
You can tell even thru his bad mistakes he still carries that rich daddy dna. He has his humble moments but he’s not worried about anything because of that family money. He’s never had to work
He’s human....everyone thinks they are better. Raise your hand if you’ve experienced half of what he has.....thought so.
They ask him about how great fame was.. should have him talk about the darkness he’s clearly living in.
Def. sub par.
Hitting Up Athletes on Twitter any time he wanted more like hitting up Babes any time he wanted.
He looks like Koepka
No he doesn't. Embarrassing take. Koepka is jacked.

He had a marker for a $1000

damn 5’11 on tippy toes?
I don’t think y’all realize his family has oil bookoo money. He’s set
Roll Tide so I have naturally disliked Johnny for of course taking down my Crimson Tide but after watching this hour I can honestly say he seems like a solid good guy. And never wasmanything but fake dislike because I am bright enough to not actually truly dislike a person for playing for another team than my favorite team. Tell you what, anytime he let go of the ball deep against Alabama we always scooted to the edge of our seats thinking Please No! Or he took off running, even if it looked like he would absolutely be swarmed no problem I was s creaminf OH GOD GET HIM. Now, hope Johnny Football finds the path in life where he finds happiness. I don't think any of us stop to think how crazy some of these kids lifes can instantly be. The first player I ever even thought about that was probably only recently about how fast Tua Tagovailoa's life must have changed the night he went from backup QB at Bama to hero winning the Natty for Alabama in 1 half and instantly being touted as a Heisman frontrunner the next season. Sidenote: he absolutely should have won the Heisman the next year when he showed the stud he was against Oklahoma and Murray looked like a deer in headlights until his team was out of the game and then he racked up some meaningless stats.
2020
Every kid is entitled to grow up and live a little.... it all happened so fast for this fella he just dropped the ball ~ he knows he got seduced ... I hope he can grow and mature as a healthy human being.
rise to fame? or rise from fame

What a bust
The CFL isn't ticky-tacky, guy. That league gave you a chance to get back into the NFL, But you blew it. You got exposed as a garbage QB with a weak arm. You had no patience to learn the QB position and you were lazy to boot. Now you think you can conquer the Golfing game. That sport requires disciple which you don't have. I guess your next appearance will be on Celebrity Ghost Stories because you can recount your story that about the regrets that haunt you.
If you grow up playing "golf" i think its safe to say your family had alot of money...
That moustache is just awful
BUST
Sue me
Arguably the biggest bust of ALL TIME!
He lucky his parents are rich
shit don't stop stinking, if you think it has just scratch the surface
A big part of the reason he didn’t succeed in the nfl was cause his game had a lot of flaws, apart from the off the field issues he could never beat a team with just his arm, just watch the film, it says it all
Nah. He'd be ok if it wasn't the browns
G McIntosh nah bro like I said he had a ton of flaws in his game and it would’ve taken him a really long time to develop into a franchise Qb if any other team had drafted him, he clearly wasn’t ready for the nfl
Manziel never wanted to work hard on football. The large CFL field exposed his weak arm and he could read the defensive schemes being used in the CFL.
G McIntosh no he’s too small and doesn’t have strong enough arm he more or less said so himself in this interview.
didnt know the backstory on this guy, i dont follow football. but holy shiet what a bum
The wacky employee jointly guide because thread perioperaively fancy between a defeated veterinarian. flippant, therapeutic color

dont remeber dudes name but he played at texas tech and saw Johnny take a line of coke in a club and walked out like nothing happened.
Sounds like he didn’t make it because he was so spoiled
Manziel looks 50.
how does this guy have money to just play golf all day long? these dudes are like golf bums or something, who is bankrolling this nonsense????
Look up manziel interests. Then you'll see.
So to make the interview short he basically said “Since I sucked at being a professional football player, I ran back to daddy and started back at the golf game.” Most white privilege award goes to Jonny Foosball
Is he drinking white claws?
I peeped that lol
@@codycroce6404 my guy was hiding the cans under the table lol. No good imo, recipe for disaster. I'm just taking a guess tho.
Mikey Basile at this point he knows he’s never playing football again let alone the NFL so who cares if he drinks at this point. Just don’t do crack lol
@@codycroce6404 lol you're funny Cody. I hear ya, just hopefully white claws don't lead to crack, that's the way it goes sometimes 😓 I have always rooted for the kid and always will tho.
Yep.
Useless.
I don't know why people are liking this guy. The ego is still enormous. I think there are 2 reasons he imploded
1. I think his dad was super controlling. never let him do anything besides train or a compete. he didn't have a social life growing up so once he was on his own he caught up.
2. J.A.W.N (Just Another Wannabe Nigga)
Wouldn't say he was one of the most famous people in the world, America lives in a bubble. He probably wasnt even the most famous person in Texas
While I'd love to see him play in the nfl again, it's clear, he hasn't matured one bit. Such wasted football talent. He blames everyone but himself.
You must not know how to read people. He’s has massive growth. That 25 age thing seemed to hit him.
how dare you give this punk any attention. #JohnnyMORON
