It was 1986 for me. The very first time I heard his music. White Winds. And in 1986, Down To The Moon came out. I was mesmerized. I've taken some long breaks in listening, but when I come back to A.V., his music still touches me the same way.
I attended one of his concerts in the early eighties at CY Stephens auditorium at Iowa State University. This building was designed to enhance acoustic performances. His concert brought tears to every member of our group of students. A literally masterful performance.
I had a similar experience in Manhattan (NYC) at a performance venue near Lincoln Center. It was about 2002. Andreas spoke a lot of the woman that inspired his musicality at such a young age. His experiences lent himself to experiment with instruments and create his very own. He's truly an original. I wish I could see him perform again.
Same. The first time I heard 'Down to the Moon' I was hooked. No music sounded like that. The sound of the synthesized harp was mesmerizing. I still listen to all of his music today 🌟♥️
Real musicians don t need to speak... They communicate with the empathy of their art and mastery and technique of their playing..... Bravo to all of them
Tak for mange gode følse oplevelse.
Michaël RUBIN The Woman and the Stone! I knew it right away. I followed that link and then ended up playing all of the mini concerts as I played a game on the computer. My stepdad walked in and said it was beautiful. He hadn't heard of Andreas, being stuck in the 60s. I loved hearing Andreas talk now and then. Thank you very much!
I'M a proud 90s kid.. So glad my childhood memories are filled with this mans music in the background,.. and nothing but laughter with the family. -Sundays, after lunch, uncle would serenade us with Andreas' music. I am sorry to disappoint my mates, but Mapiano has nothing on this..
I have been listening to his music since the 1990’s!😊 My children loved this music when I played it in the classroom in the morning as they arrived… will he ever come to America? I would live to see him live 👍🏽 🔥
I loved the "Dance with the Lion" when I was like 7... There was no internet back then so it took me more than a decade till I finally found Andreas. Today, I just can't imagine a relaxing session without his music.
I love your comment! I read not long ago that when the Angels want to listen to music, they play Mozart, but when GOD wants to listen to music HE plays Bach! I can just imagine GOD coming to sit in the wings to listen unobserved!
I was lucky enough to see him in concert one time in the 80's. At one point I was totally getting off on the bass line and suddenly realized... WAIT! There's no bass player on stage! WOW! Even more respect! He's actually holding down that bass line while dancing all over the upper strings! Found out later his harp has a separate pickup just for the bass register of his harp. Also was surprised and thrilled to see none other than David Lindley (long time side-kick and lead guitar player for Jackson Browne... On all his albums) playing the slide guitar in this performance!
the night in Cincinnati Music Hall, September 1987 still the most magical night ever. and the friend who cried after the concert. 'i did not know music like this existed'. perfect.
I can't thank my late sister and brother- in-law enough for introducing me to Andreas's music from a young age....It's 2021, and in his music I still find my peace and calmness
Me too. Still moves me. . Maybe more now. Yet, had white winds and down to the moon and book of roses. Ahhhh. . A time and place for everything. Many 😊 🙏 thanks
What can I say?? When I feel down, stressed from all the awful news and negativities that surround us, I tuen to Andreas music and is a balsam to my soul! I told my wife and son that when my time comes, to play one of Andrea’s songs at my burial.
I discovered Andreas in the mid-80's and he saved music for me. I was born in 1952 and came of age in the 60's and early 70's, with all of that GREAT MUSIC....and then it all went to hell in the late 70's and early 80's. Garbage bubblegum nonsense, no feelings, no meaning. And then along comes new music, new paradigms, new meanings. Andreas, Spyro, Mike Hedges, Liz Story, George Winston.......and just blew the lid off what was possible. We owe these pioneers much respect.

I've enjoy his music for years and so happy to be reunited with it, especially with all the tension in this world. So nice to bask in spirit soothing, relaxing, music.
One of the hands down greatest musical experiences of my life. Seeing Andreas and Walter Keiser in person in a small intimate venue was musical perfection. Believe it was 1999 Dancing with the Lion tour at the Alabama Theater. Brought tears of joy…
Amazingly talented Andreas Vollenwiender , salute you ! been listening to your awesome music ,less stress Everytime I listens .God Bless you always and continue to makes people around the World happy with all problems ,guns ,violence etc. Love you I wish I can meet you in person .take care ....

Yay! I discovered AV only 3 years ago, sitting on the airplane next to a woman who I was talking to. I told her I was learning to play Folk Harp, she told me to look up AV. What a ride since then!

The Music of Andreas is so pleasing to the soul i wanted my Mother to hear as she is in her last days of life. I grew up listening to her sing around the house so it is right she should here Music in her last moments Hopefully, Music will someday bring World Peace,♥️💜💚 🌎🌎🌏🚴🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶
The way andreas vollenweider plays this harp is like he has 3 brains, 1 in his head and 1 on each hand, I could never keep up, and I've tried. This is 1 man who feels his music through his whole body, and I'm like how can any1 else not feel the music aswell
I've bought some of his music on audio cassette. I bought even more all over again on CDs and an iTunes album download. Andreas Vollenweider is so original and I love his music as much as I did when I first heard it 32 years ago! He's got a new album coming out very soon, I think in October! :D
Still here 8/2024...still loving A. V. sInce 1985

1988 started listening to him and was blown away by the talent and music. Still blown away today.
Same. The first time I heard 'Down to the Moon' I was hooked. No music sounded like that. The sound of the synthesized harp was mesmerizing. I still listen to all of his music today 🌟♥️
me too. Saw him live in Cleveland in the '80's. Transformed! Love his new work.

Just beautiful. I said to my wife "This is the music I expect to hear should I be granted access to heaven."
Thank you for sharing this!!
Wow, great words. I'm really agree with you. 🙏👍
I've been falling asleep/studying to his music for literally 2 decades now :) it reminds me of childhood

I had it as well, but on Vinyl. Was my first LP from him that I got as a Teenager in the 80´s. Still loving it in ´19.

I loved the "Dance with the Lion" when I was like 7... There was no internet back then so it took me more than a decade till I finally found Andreas. Today, I just can't imagine a relaxing session without his music.
My big brother used to play his albums, and I used to hate his music! Now I'm sitting down eating a humble pie while my right foot taps to his beats.
How much do you you wanna bet that the Gods definitely descend to earth every evening to listen to Andrea's harp? I believe so.
:-) yes i think so
Wow. Even on a completely unrelated musical performance the "Not Racist", Butts...™ just can't turn it off. :-(
I love your comment! I read not long ago that when the Angels want to listen to music, they play Mozart, but when GOD wants to listen to music HE plays Bach! I can just imagine GOD coming to sit in the wings to listen unobserved!

Me too!! God Bless this man so much!! Love every song that he plays... Since I was 1 y.o. I listen to his songs, now I'm 28 and still listening
I was lucky enough to see him in concert one time in the 80's. At one point I was totally getting off on the bass line and suddenly realized... WAIT! There's no bass player on stage! WOW! Unique music with unbelievable groove and lot of space! Really breathing music.
The most amazing thing about this music is the space between everything. That is why ANDREAS, rocks , within the rocks🎼
Andreas' music is like opening the gates to an abyss undiscovered and defining each discovery with so much detail,...picturesque…...
He puts up in the sky keep this music burning
Started listening to Andre in the early ‘70s ..Still the perfection in his craft.. Endures time!
the night in Cincinnati Music Hall, September 1987 still the most magical night ever. and the friend who cried after the concert. 'i did not know music like this existed'. perfect.
What was the next song ?
That phrase of harp music has been with me for a very long time now. Timeless.
how can anyone press dislike to such a music...
I suspect classical and orchestral harpists! After all, an electric modified harp goes against purist theory.
love him the 80s, first i bought the cassettes. later changed them in cd´s. my first one was: behind the garden...
he was really unique music, with spirituality.I have his 4 compact disc
The same here 👍🏻
Been listening to this man since I was 20 and I’m now 58.
...the same here 👍🏻

My son came into this world in 1983 accompanied by AVs music 24/7 before and after birth.
Homeboy is actually magic, WOW! What great energy!!! SO happy running into this thank you!

Saw him in ‘94 @ the Tower Theater. Blown away was an understatement!!! Incredible show!!!😌🎶👍🏾
The Tower theater in Downtown L.A.?
🤔
Evoking da Past No. It was the Tower Theater in Upper Darby, PA. Right outside of Philadelphia.😌
So ironic, that was the last time he came in that area. But incredible show it was.
@@etpslick100 glad to know, thank U for sharing such nice memories, nice to meet you through cool music, my best regards to you with a warm 🤝
🤗
Evoking da Past Thank you. You have a blessed day.🤗
Here in 2020. Still beautiful.
I saw him at The Riffe Center in Columbus many moons ago, and still remember it as the most phenomenal show.
A virtuoso, percussionists dream and nobody can play a harp like Andreas! God this sounds incredible!! Thanks
