The MOST EXTREME Porsche Is Coming

- Опубліковано 17 лис 2024
- Porsche is testing the latest-generation 911 GT2 RS, which might be their wildest road model yet, excluding hypercars like the 918 Spyder. A prototype was seen at the Nurburgring, resembling a 911 GT3 RS but with a roll cage and testing equipment. Its muted engine sound suggests a twin-turbocharged engine, likely a more powerful version of the Turbo S's engine, exclusively powering the rear wheels. The final GT2 RS bodywork will be revealed in 6-12 months, with the car expected to launch around 2026 for the 2027 model year.
Porsche’s tradition of nicknaming GT prototypes with "Top Gun" call signs continues, as this prototype has a "Wolfman" script. The last GT2 RS had 700 hp from a 3.8-liter twin-turbo flat-six, while the new model could approach 1,000 hp, possibly with some electrification. The updated 2025 911 features a hybrid powertrain, and a similar setup might be used in the GT2 RS, enhancing the twin-turbo engine with an electric motor.
Aero elements for the GT2 RS are still unknown, but Porsche aims to challenge the Nurburgring record held by the Mercedes-AMG One. Additionally, a new 911 Turbo prototype suggests a potential Turbo S Touring grade, possibly rear-wheel drive with a hybrid powertrain, arriving for the 2026 model year. This new grade follows the pattern of the 911 Sport Classic, which had a manual transmission and rear-wheel drive but the upcoming model will likely use an 8-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

great video from such a small channel! perfectly gave all the facts and context with no bloating. also appreciate the cutting of video material relevant to the current topic which many large car news channel dont even bother to do. great tone in speaking too. very clear and understandable. S Tier car news video! youve got my sub
Damn man thank you so much i really appreciate that. This means the world to me mate!
The new GT2 RS is going to be the quickest around the ring for sure!
I dont know man being 14 seconds faster than the gt3rs wont be easy.
@@AsamatBagatov135 okay maybe 2nd lol. I forgot the AMG One is still number 1.
@@BoxingWave yeah but i feel like they really want that number 1 so im excited what they can cook up
could be i would love to see the Sf90 XX have a go too
Hope so Is Is Porche should be always on top.
Imagine if it beat the $3M AMG One
It will. Its a Porsche. And the ONE is only a few seconds faster than the Old 991.2. And then you only have to compare the differnces between the 991 GT3RS and the 992 GTRS. And even the 992 GT3 is faster than a 991 GT3RS. 992 GT3RS is way faster than the old one. And i think with the new aero this will also happen to the GT2RS.
is the amg one even out yet?
@@Tougestiit's been out for quite a while my guy.
The 3M AMG ONE went around on damp and at times even wet track and still did a 6:35😂. Will be deep into 20s if it wasn’t wet

No GT Porsche is ordinary but in that context, that is i guess)
Hes right. If they're all gt3rs then the words "ordinary gt3rs" is not offensive in that context.....chill no need ti get ur feelings in a bunch
Everything’s relative
way more wild than a 918 and probably way faster
918 is 10 years old and looks way better than all Porsche’s
@@DxModel219 not arguing that. Gt2rs looks way more “wild” though.
@@AC-wl7ve You are saying a Beetle looks more wild than a 918
@@jimbo1058 a 2rs is purpose built track weapon with wings and fins all over it, it’s mad looking. 918 is sleek and sexy.
Of course, even the 992 GT3 RS is already way faster around the Nürburgring than the 918 ever was.
I don’t think people understand that the problem with electrification of cars is not the electric motors, but the weight penalty of the batteries. The current HV battery of the 992.2 911 with the ERS turbos would definitely allow the new GT2 RS to be light and powerful. So it being a hybrid wouldn’t be a bad idea, as long as they don’t use large batteries
It's a plug in or not?
Im still fond of the 918. Still looks so modern it could be released today.
Same! Its a timeless masterpiece in my opinion. Just like the Carerra GT.
@@flatbushzombiejuice On the CarreraGT i actually disagree. Engine is cool, looks not bad but the roofline is a huge no for me. Zagato fixed the issue tho.

The camouflaged erlkönig he shows in the beginning is, the GT3 RS looking mule in chalk with the blue stripes however is a GT2 RS test mule.
Top Gun… then proceeds to reel of marvel characters. 😂
It won't be a twin turbo the way the new system works eliminates the need for two turbos.
So you are saying that two turbos are gonna be pointless?
@@AkhiDrive The 911 GTS has a big single turbo, two turbos aren't needed if the electric motor can cut down the lag faster than having two smaller turbos.
@@rwilson4073 Yeah makes sense
Sounds like a possibility actually. Which will make it a hybrid like the 992.2. Maybe a larger turbo or two of those electric turbos lol
@@rwilson4073 the question is does this apply for the GT2 RS too, where engine response isnt such a big deal, because its optimised for the track, where youre going full throttle most of the time, whereas the GTS is optimised for the road where you want quick response from low to high load. maybe they even do a single turbo without the electric support and just add the e motor in the transmission to save weight. remains to be seen.
Imagine 1000hp in GT2 RS . That legendary engine + twin turbo + electric power. I mean this thing is gonna be a fking rocket. 2s 0-100 km/h probably .
I'd be really curious if there is going to be some electrification on the front wheels... Because more power to just the rear wheels is not going to cut it. The limit in traction is almost reached. So having 700 or 1000 hp on the rear wheels wouldn't make a big difference - if those aren't useful.
its a porsche, believe me they can go 1000hp rr with full traction and no need for electric stuff. but i think its going to be 800 to 900hp, but with significant aero and weight ratios, electric/hybrid stuff would also be not intelligent at all cause of the weight. rr plus big wing and the right aero could be brutal for all the competition out there. we have enough cars that can go easy very fast on the straight, but cornering and going fast, man just porsche is up there.
What you said would be true if we were exclusively talking about 0-60 or 1/4 mile times but Porsche cars aren't made for the drag strip. The RS models in particular are made for the track, which usually includes high speed sections, which means all the power is relevant, even if you can not put it all down at low speed. Also, the way track times are measured usually does not include a standing start, so (very) low speed traction may never come into play.
Of course fwd electric motors could still provide additional power but then you have to deal with the additional weight and packaging issues. So it might be best to just skip the fwd e-motors and go for a lower weight to carry higher speeds through the corners.
@@maasterchief Btw true. 9FF and LCE have built >1000hp 911s for decades now.
Mostly for straight line speed though. And if it’s supposed to be a track weapon I’d still be a fan of a twin turbo(e) Porsche with two electric motors in the front to support it. But it’s going to be heavy. But you’re going to need a battery for the e-turbos as well anyway.
It’s tricky. I don’t think it will come with this generation, they are going to keep it for the generation after this one.
@@Climate.Realist i think too, next generation. would be awesome defo! since everyone waits for a gt2 rs rebrand with a bit more evolution and revolution, i think they pushing rr, maybe with a compressor, but since the new 911 is also hybrid, maybe were all getting e in the gt2 rs sooner than we all thought. id be happy enough if we see a monster thats pushing 900hp rr at 11k rpms flat six with a unibody thats looking like a aero spaceship in your face :D
Great video format, looking forward to more.
Thanks i will keep doing that!
Mercedes: *Spends millions of dollars to create a road legal F1 car that can beat Porsche at the Nurburgring*
Porsche: "Look at what they need to mimic a fraction of our power!"
Do you think Porsche can ever build a car so advanced like AMG one ??
They did not spend millions for beating a nurburgring record 😑 they wanted to celebrate F1 victory and show how they are top in technology

Curious if it will be a 1,000hp hybrid
I don't think it is going to be more than 900. But those 900 or whatever that would be (probably less) with Porsche's grip are going to be insane
@@AkhiDrive it doesn't matter what power it makes. Porsche hp is more than others, so 900 hp 911 is equal to a 1200 hp Lamborghini
Probably around 800 HP for the next GT2 RS. The AMG One is a fat hybrid supercar, that's why they needed 1000+ HP to make it fast enough. Porsche knows how to make fast cars on track, you can definetely expect a MR kit as well as it's been released on the GT3 RS. I bet something around 6'30"00 flat for the GT2 RS on the Ring, with Cup R or Trofeo RS.
Would you like any Porsche with that wing?
*it WILL be the wildest
Hope it beats the AMG One this time. Can't wait to see what Manthey Racing has in store to make it break its own record. Hope it keeps it for a long time this time around
But no Manual trans no interest. I love Control rowing my own gears and service too.. :-D
that is not what the gt2rs is about even remotely.
The RS branch of the family is only meant to have track focused design decisions. That means at no point will Porsche designers consider anything but a dct or even a torque converter.
For a similar powerpack with a manual you need only look at the S/T.
992 gt2 rs will be insane! But that mission x is supposed to be the fastest production car.
It’s gonna be much more extreme than the 918 buddy
Might be, might be...
Yes I guess so too, but the GT2 RS, although being King of the 'Ring, is still considered a sport/supercar. The 918 Spyder on the other hand, is called a hypercar.
The Current GT3RS is already faster than 918
100%. 918 way too heavy.
@@christopherlee4648 but the 918 is legendary and also way better and cooler looking imo :D

My friend is a Ford fan boy, he's been telling me how the new Mustang GTD will be a Porsche destroyer, l just hope Porsche doesn't let it happen
the 992 gt2rs is basically the RTX4090 from porsche
I’m not sold on the 1,000hp speculation. At that power figure you’ll heat up the rear tires so much that you’ll practically only have a single good lap of the Nordschleife. The current 2RS already suffered that same reason despite being ‘only’ 700hp.
u forget its 2024, the gt2 rs is kinda old if u consider how massive the gt3 rs changed, i think they can push 900hp rr! its porsche, if someone can do it, its them or koenigsegg
@@maasterchief you don’t understand my point, it’s not about them being Porsche, it’s about the tires not being able to hold up the power figures. A 700hp turbocharged engine is not the same as a 700hp n/a engine, there’s a lot of torque involved.
@@NFSATALLA i get what you mean but other car brands developed own tires with big brands to fit their needs, look at formula one, yes they are slicks which is not doable in everyday use, but a gt2 rs is no gt2 rs without rr. well see, i get that na 700hp is a lot to deal with, but they have a lot of highly certified engineers.
"Apart for the Hyper car 918 Porsche of course", not sure what that statement is meant to covey, as 2018 GT2 unseated the 918 as the Ring record lap holder back in 2018.
The Porsche 918 Spyder is a mid-engine beast with almost 900hp that was priced nearly $900,000 at launch date. Do you think is it fair to compare those two models?
The 918 record was set before Nordschleife got renovated, hence much worse track conditions, also worse tyres. The 918 is more capable than its record
@@iceblade019 I own a 2019 GT2 RS and have driven several 918's...the last just a couple months ago. The GT2 is a faster car everywhere except from 0 to about 80 mph and has a higher top speed certified by the Porsche GT2 Chief Engineer of 222 mph. The GT2 is also lighter and brakes better than the 918. The GT2 would eat the 918's lunch on either the "old" ring or the "renovated".
@stevefowler2112 This is a great point 👏
@@stevefowler2112 so basically u are saying that u can drive a gt2 rs, with todays standards faster on the nordschleife than a 918 cause some pulls give u the feel? i doubt that, also i dont think that u can compare hardcore racing with casually doing pulls on the highway m8. bad comparison, especially comparing a 2010 car with a 2019 gt2 rs. they were never meant to compete. a 918 shows how perfect a hybrid can be. a gt2 rs shows how brutal a 911 shell can be.
1:12 is that an audi sport quattro?!
Right!
no just an ur-quattro (sport quattro has a shorter wheelbase)
the first car was the GT3RS MR
Its the Manthey Racing Kit for the GT3 RS 🤦♂
Can someone tell me what is the difference between GT2RS and GT3RS
So basically the GT3 RS is a bit lighter with a naturally aspirated engine and the GT2 RS uses twin turbos for much higher power, making it significantly faster, but also a bit heavier (if the next generation will use hybrid powertrain it will be significantly heavier)

The Mission X was showcased in June 2023 and I'm quite sure they will go for the Nurgburgring top time in 2025 or 2026. The 911 GT2 RS is only 8 seconds behind the AMG One and its record time is 1 year older (from 2021). I think that when the Mission X was showcased the key chasis features (carbon fiber monocoque, integral spoilers, huge difussor...) were already nailed, The Volkswagen IDR already has a time of 6'05" so the only thing Porsche needs to do to beat VW with their superior engineering and larger racing experience is to put a larger battery for daily use and a two screws for the plate. They probably will use trans axle electrical engines as the latest Koeningsseg/Mercedes prototypes. The Mission X will be in the roards in 2-3 years.

Porsche social media fan kids, can't accept the fact that Porsche was deathroned
Since 2017 can't win at le mans, since then Toyota took 5 consecutive years and Ferrari took 2
Only won at DTM last year, fun fact Mercedes has 26 titles on his pocket, Audi is second greatest manufacturer at DTM
At Nurburgring, GT Black Series made an outstanding lap of 6:43.616 in non fully dry conditions, in comparison GT2RS did it in 6:47.3 thats almost 4sec slower
And then Porsche decided to remake the car with new aerodinamic parts without changing the engine, making it 6:43.3, 3 tenths down on the Mercedes
One more time Mercedes bring a monster, The AMG One making in 6:35.183 also non dry conditions
I understand why you all get hyped when Porsche bring something new, they have an amazing engineering behind it, but it's not the same, being the best it's not easy this days and I don't believe they can easily beat such record, If you guys watched F1 you would understand, you can't found 5sec on your pocket
And Mercedes in the next 3yrs will bring another Black Series, so ya... they have competition
That's great. Competition is always good for customer, even though i'm not the customer (at least not yet 😂) it's always exiting to watch two manufactures fight for the title isn't it? Even in F1, if there were no competition, they'd still be using the same bolides from 1950, or more likely, the sport would have become boring and died out by now.
@@AkhiDrive indeed competition is better than domination
And even as a Mercedes fan I'd love to see the fight against Porsche
Just a side note, but Porsche quit WEC LMP1 in 2017 and only returned last year again with the LMDh 963. But yeah, Porsche said they'll get some improvements for the 963 after this year's LeMans race.
Mercedes is lucky. There are road legal cars that can run circles around the AMG GT Black series. But they haven’t had an official lap around the nordschleife. Apart from that, the AMG One’s lap was in the wet so we have no idea how much faster it can go in the dry. But for that car, a lap of 6:35 is not as good as anyone thought. If that car really is as good as people say it is, I wanna see a sub- 6:25 from that car but I wonder why Mercedes haven’t gone for a dry run. As for the Porsche vs Mercedes, 4 seconds around a circuit as long as the Nordschleife with a car released 4 years later is not as big a technical marvel as many think. Oh and the MR was a minor update, not a remake. The “remake” could give the 6:35er a run for its money even.
