Passengers would’ve been a great movie if it started with Chris Pratt and Jennifer Lawrence both being awake and then the audience becoming aware that Pratt woke her up on purpose the same time Lawrence found out

It still would have needed to treat his decision differently from a tonal perspective. I think it's okay to have a main character who makes a bad selfish decision. But you can't treat it as a cute romantic action. I don't think the movie needed to villainize him, which seems to be what WhatCulture wants, but you also can't just gloss over his actions.

Nothing random about the suicide in A Star is Born. Just him finally realizing how everyone else sees him and knowing there’s truly no happy ending for them while he’s around. Actually very powerful. Anyone who’s struggled with addiction will see this.

I strongly disagree with the idea that Remember Me's twist should have been revealed at the start. I also disagree with the idea that it should have been foreshadowed. The point of having the attack come out of nowhere is that it DID come out of nowhere. The idea was to mimic how it happened for the victims and their loved ones. Foreshadowing it would have been disingenuous to that reality. Now, if you want to argue that the movie leading up to that could have been better, fine. But I think the twist itself is a very worthy attempt to show how tragedy is NOT foreshadowed

The bigger problem with The twist in the second Jurassic World film was that it was not picked up properly in the third. The cloned child could have been a key plot point of it, be it as hero, protagonist, ant-hero, antagonist or even just the big McGuffin. Instead I got lost alongside the killer insects.

A Star is Born. The writer does not quite understand depression. If you have never lived with depression you don't understand what being pushed like that can make you feel. He's already struggling with his mind telling him he's worthless and that he should off himself, having the other guy just amplified it even further. It's like having a gun in your hand then having someone move it to point at your head. It's a final push as the manager guy was just confirming everything his depression was already telling him.
It's ironic that you are praising the concept of the plants being responsible in the Happening when most of the time, that is the very thing people complain about.

Michael wasn't actually killing randomly in the original Halloween. Having the hero be the villain is not a "great twist idea." It's the most hackneyed thing in the world. It's almost never been done well. The reason it doesn't work is because it negates everything the audience has watched up until that point. The main character's actions are rendered nonsensical in hindsight or a full 80% of the movie was imaginary.

Most wasted opportunity for a twist came at the end of The Matrix Reloaded when it was shown that Neo could control the squiddies outside of the matrix. What should have happened, imho, is that it was revealed that Zion was merely the next layer in the matrix, designed to control those for whom the main matrix was unsatisfactory and that Neo would be the first to break free from this outer shell and be the first human back into the actual real world.
