    I love how Ben was enjoying the impromptu viking tour. Also love that they got to hear "Spaff!" out of nowhere 200+ miles from home. I think Jamie and Barry's dishes suffered from execution rather than concept. In York, they talked about how balanced the ones they bought were, which probably took practice and experimentation. While Ben got his inspiration from the ingredients and knew how to execute it.

      @@SortedFood I think this is a great suggestion. With everyone trying to get back to normal after so long, I think checking things out in more day trip like episodes would be great for those who want to travel but for one reason or another can’t go far or for long. Day trips are great for breaks of routine and let you feel a bit less stressed. Also, so many people are unaware of what is nearby.

    • @mekko902
      @mekko902 2 роки тому +23

      True! They're one of the only channels I'll happily watch when I know the content is branded. They're great at incorporating it, keeping true to their vibe, and only accepting deals that make sense with their brand.

    • @randalthor741
      @randalthor741 2 роки тому +12

      I agree, there are only a handful of channels I know that do ads really well, and Sorted is definitely one of them. When a channel is picky about who they do ads for so that they only do ads for products/companies that really fit well with the channel's content, and only for ones that they clearly believe in (as in: they've got a really good product and/or the company has very good/ethical practices), and they manage to make the ad feel like it fits in with the flow of the video (or even if the entire video is basically an ad, but it's done in a way that makes the video fit in really well with the rest of the channel's videos), well I don't mind ads at all when they're like that. In fact, when the ads fit in so well like they do with Sorted, I'm much more likely to consider actually spending my money on whatever's being advertised. If Sorted started advertising RAID: Shadow Legends or something, yeah no thank you. But the types of things they do advertise, and the way they go about it: that works for me.

    Canadian here weighing in with my personal opinion about Jamie's poutine: He used cheese curds, so it passes the poutine test. There's been a lot of playing with expanding the toppings options from just the traditional curds and gravy, but without cheese curds, it's not right.
    (You can put any other variety of toppings on a poutine, but the moment you use shredded cheese, no matter how good the resulting food might be, it's not poutine, it's loaded fries)
    He gets a pass for not having gravy, since the beef spread thing was gravy-esque. But just barely.

    What I've found helps bring tang and more tart apple flavor to apples is giving them a dip in lemon juice. The tartness interacts with the acidity of the apples to punch up that side of the flavor, making it strong enough to even shine through a double layer of ganache. Yes, I _have_ made a chocolate-and-apple tart using this very method, sandwiching my lemon-spiked apple filling between 2 layers of chocolate ganache in a butter-and-biscuit shell. Rich, complex, and utterly satisfying. I highly recommend it.

    For anyone going. Next to the shambles market on the side of the shambles there is the Parlormade Scone House. And if you continue from the market towards the shambles, if you go left, there is a sausage roll and pie shop on your left hand side. It's called Ye Olde Pie & Sausage Shoppe. It's a take away place. The scone place is for eating in aswell. Both we're amazing and i highly recommend going. The people were lovely and the food was the highlight of our trip.

    I think if the dessert wrap by Baz was a bit better, maybe a bit "less", they might have pulled the win since Jamie's wrap looked phenomenal. I've actually seen Jolly do an episode on that place for the traditional sunday roast wrap and I was totally upset that there wasn't one over here across the pond. Either way they all looked great and now I'm hungry.

    ULTIMATE BATTLE IDEA- Each normal has a budget of 20 pounds, they buy the ingredients and then tell what they are going to make, and then after they tell the dish, all the ingredients get swapped with another normal and then that normal had to make the dish which was told by the other one.

    Man. Y'all don't know how lucky you are to have trains that can take you to another city for a day trip without having to drive through traffic. I want to go to Orlando for a day trip to visit friends, I have to actively drive two to three hours, and combat both Disney and Orlando city traffic, then do it again to get home. Plus the gas to get there and back. PLUS finding parking if I want to just explore downtown like this! If we had a rail system I'd be able to visit so much more of the state I live in instead of just work, grocery, and home. Just over here feeling jealous that this is something the team can even do this easily.

    • @Erdnussbuttertoast
      @Erdnussbuttertoast 2 роки тому +1

      oh, i know the answer to the boxing rope! basically, they spent a lot of money on it to make it look like a boxing ring but basically nobody ever noticed it, or if they did realized that it was supposed to look like a boxing ring, so they stopped putting it up a while ago and used it for other stuff (i think they talked about it on a podcast once?).
      Also, while they never did an ultimate egg battle, they did a "3 Things to Do with Eggs" which is kinda "eh, close enough" in terms of format
