I actually befriended few cows just a month ago! I was visiting their fields and talking to them. One day they just came for cuddles and 3 days ago one of the cows bring her baby to meet me. I love cows! They are very intelligent and social animals.

Those soft hoove part on just born calfs, also known as decidious hoove capsule, is actually a special soft layer to make birthing better by padding the hard and sharp hooves to protect the mom, it breaks off very fast by standing and walking on it, all hooved animals have this soft layer at birth

I've watched this video a couple of times just to watch how happy he is in there with the calves. A person who loves what he does for their job never really works a job. I have never seen anyone as happy as he is in this video. Thank you for the joy this brings
I once raised up two Brown Swiss bull calves, intending to try to make oxen from them. I got a bit distracted from that idea, and did only a brief bit of training with them. But they were HUGE, and were a big draw to anyone driving by our home (in New York). They lived to nearly 25 years old. Calves are wonderful to spend time around.
This is so where the relationship begins !!! I rub my calves feet and legs they trust me right from the start> They love it so relaxing and I see how the feet are !!
We do the same with foals. We try to touch, scratch or rub a foal from head to foot on both sides early on. Important parts are legs, hooves and ears. This way they are accustomed to being touched when they get older and bigger.

Yeah, if you ever got your foot stepped on my a baby cow, whose hooves have hardened, it is the worst!! My feet have been stepped on my adult cows, but for some reason, the calves are worse! Maybe the adults are more conscious of my toes or maybe the baby's hooves are extra sharp!

THAT WAS SOOOOO INTERESTING! I did not know a calves hooves were that soft when they were born. I never took an interest in cows or hooves until I started watching your videos. Now when I go to my boyfriend's place, I go look at the bulls (still calves) that he has and glancing at their feet. Of course I don't have a smasher so I can only get so close but they look healthy enough.
