You son of bitch i'm in! (it's a ref to rick and morty, if you don't have it please don't worry about the insult, just a reference, not really insulted you)
Excellent, I'll be using this in the future. Just built the Arduinoboy too, still waiting for my Everdrive cart to arrive. Keep it up! you've done a lot to start me down the DIY synth path and I'm having a great time.
What about taking a toy drum machine with piezo pads? Could you just cut the wires going to the piezo and solder them to a 1/8" jack and trigger it with an external sound like an individual out from a drum machine? Do I have to match the voltage of the piezo in order to bypass the pads and trigger them with an external source? Great video btw.
Giving serious consideration to retrofitting some bigger external pads on my old DD-65.... Know I'll have to use piezoelectric as opposed to a switch. Having said that, the peizo only work by the fact they make a small voltage when hit, if there was a small burst of power created by a battery capacitor combination.... Wonder if piezo could be "emulated"... Hmm. Still easier to aim for the piezo route in my case I think... Still giving ideas, so... The video worked 😊
It is better to add at least a single resistor. A few kOhms to a few tens of kOhms should be right. This way it will put much less stress on the batteries when the stick comes in contact with the main surface so you can reuse them after the thing falls apart.
I can't believe that the "major" electronic drum video bloggers have not seen this video yet. Making electronic drums actually looks easier than making acoustic ones ...
Piezo crystals generate a voltage based on how hard they're hit, you get them in round pads with 2 wires coming off em and they're cheap as Chips. Could amplify it to get a CV level signal out?
ant eater just FYI, American tinfoil is WAY thicker and more durable than anything I’ve seen in Europe, so probably a better way to go for these projects in general, especially for something like this drum pad if we’re gonna be beating the crap out of it! :D
I genuinely believe that this guy is a British time traveler from the 80's that spent years in the underground circuit in Berlin and West Germany.
I love how this dude perfectly captures the post-punk fashion and attitude, even though he’s quite young. Props.
Kraftwerk did something similar in the early 1970s. Love the overalls by the way :-)
Mind-blowing. So cool. Thanks for sharing!
it would be crazy and amazinng to be room mates with this guy

could do yeah! might be worth going after when the piezo gets amplified!
Don't you need to put a cap on the piezo element to debounce it? Just a heads up.
You just made Kraftwerk drums! :D
So did Mattel in 1980 with the lovely Synsonic Drums.

hmmm awesome channel ))) hello from Greece
"Take your thing and enjoy it because... it won't work for long." that is very deep

Would this work with a korg minilouge
Awesome kick/drum sounds, which modules?
How would I use this drum pad on a a Korg ms 20
Just discovered Zebra after seing this video, great stuff. Listening to your music on Spotify, love it.
wicked vids mate
that is what i call Crativity!! wickids tricks m8'

Well actual edrums can be used with normal drumsticks.
Takes me back to the blue peter days, where they turned bits of old rubbish and lemon squeezy bottles, into gawd knows what. A fridge or something.
Thanks for videos, man! Great Fun! :)
Can I make it smaller?
Is there any way to connect this device to ableton using a standard/cheap audio interface?
You can make this with arduino pro micro and you can use it for midi.
Love.
What could you use in place of tin foil that might be more robust, but just as conductive?
metal sheet i guess? anything really. look in a bin, see if theres anything!
LOOK MUM NO COMPUTER use the bin :)
metal gauze can be had for pennies

Copper of any kind really. Glue pennies together
Way cool, thnx
Blue peter need you!
alex & emily I’m afraid the thought police, lawyers and health & safety would not let him in the building, he’s far too much fun!!
Your like the new kraftwerk
I think this 2000 years old battery ton cup with a kupper Zylinder inside is yours
wow
Vivian from Young Ones son
you are a fuckin genious ! great each time. Thanks for your amazing stuff
Hail ll the Furby God
I made IT!
Walnut hifi is still good i collect it and im 13.
God 🙌
Mad scientist.
Dont forget your can of relentless and wooden spoon. Make some badboy drum hits lol. Thou you should drink it first.
if i put multiple layers of tinfoil maybe it lasts longer? idk

The dislikes are probably the ones who couldn't make it.
Can anyone explains physics or science behind this?
The drum just creates trigger pulses for his synthesizer. It doesn't really create the sounds we hear.
You fucking genius
furby
cool to know my diy drum pads wont work for long
that's duct tape not gafter tape
