      They're difficult to catch. I need a pro to show me how it's done.

    I love ultralight - lighter fishing. I have quite a bit of gear ....most people think , some maybe not. My wife thinks I have too much of course. Anyway , most is ultralight to medium light. I thought this video was about REELS not about RODS . Good video anyway. The picture of the REEL attracted me to the video. It looks like my black and gold Sharky 1000 aluminum reel. Can't get those anymore. It's a little beast. 😅

      Oh my goodness... I'm so sorry David... your right, I have the wrong thumbnail up!! Holy cow... so sorry about that. I'm super excited that you enjoyed the video!! But, yeah that's a mistake on my end. I'm going in there and fixing that thumbnail now. I am a HUGE fan of ultralight btw... I don't know why more people don't fish with it more often, it triggers way more bites and is so much fun reeling in fish. I always tell people you'd be shocked at how big a fish you can catch off of ultralight gear. I'm also a huge fan of moderate to moderate light action rods for a lot of different reasons as well... If your still interested in a rod video on ultralight here's one i did you may enjoy... SOOOO Sorry for all the confusion. Thank you. ua-cam.com/video/ocSLuB_3zvM/v-deo.html

    What about the sensitivity of rods made out of carbon fiber? I dont have an ultralight rod, but i came here because i believed they are more sensitive. The rod i am using the most now is a Daiwa Prorex XR Finesse carbon. But i wished the sensitivity was higher. Any advice on a super sensitive rod with cast weight around 1-20 grams?

    • @Johnnyfishalot
      @Johnnyfishalot  4 місяці тому +1

      Hey there @totalzynaps sorry for the delayed response, its been a busy week, but GREAT question... there is so much confusion around what rods are made out of and all the marketing and crazy prices around rods these days as well. Here's the thing... Ultralight is actually the power of the rod. All this means is how much force you have to apply to the rod to get it to bend. It actually has nothing to do with its sensitivity. The sensitivity all comes down to the blank of the rod and what it is made out of. Graphite is actually carbon and carbon fiber is actually carbon (its essentially the same thing) the difference is how it was made when the blank was created and how tightly the carbon fibers were wrapped to give you more or less sensitivity. Really sensitive rods with a lot of good bend/action to them (ultralight) is when they put a lot of attention into how the rod was wrapped to provide more sensitivity without making the rod too stiff... I hope that makes sense. Honestly there are a lot of rods out there that is sensitive but the rod that I continually use and think is an excellent option for sensitivity and ultralight fishing is the ST Croix Panfish Series rod. Its a little more expensive (bc of the process I just mentioned), but its one of my favorite rods. Here's a link if you are interested in checking it out, it was also the last rod pick in this video: amzn.to/3Yy3y1k

    can a reel with size 3000 use for ultralight? cuz i have one reel that size but only 1 extra ultralight rod

    • @Johnnyfishalot
      @Johnnyfishalot  2 місяці тому +1

      Absolutely... I'd just add that there is no industry standards for size of reels and rods... so some 3000 reels may be bigger and some may be smaller depending on the company. I'd say if the 3000 reel you own provides good balance to the ultralight rod you own. You can absolutely pair the two... The other thing I'd advise is a 3000 size reel will hold A LOT of ultralight line, so I would throw on some less expensive mono backing then connect your ultralight line you don't spend a fortune in fishing line. I hope this helps... thanks so much for watching.

      @@Johnnyfishalot i tried it it quite balance since its a campact type Stradic c3000xg. but i already filled it with 6lb line so cant do much bought it. i was so confused cuz people around me say i cant put it on my rod cuz it is not the spec it need. so as i was kinda do some research myself i stumble upon your vid, so i took my chance and ask, thanks a lot for answering!

    • @Johnnyfishalot
      @Johnnyfishalot  2 місяці тому

      @shahrulaiezam924 haha yeah perfect! I'd say if the reel is balanced with the rod, your good to go. Better yet, if your comfortable with the combo... then your REALLY good to go. A lot of people on youtube or whereever regurgitate stuff they hear, without actually using the stuff or having a lot of experience with different kinds of fishing situations. So I hear ya loud and clear! That's the purpose of why I created the channel, to help people out with exactly this type of stuff... so glad you got value out of the video!! Let me know if you have any more questions. Always happy to help!

    I don't like the fast Action rods. I do like it on my Shimano Aroglass FX is fast Action with Altra light power is perfect is my new favorite rod for Rainbow trout fishing. I had a Durango rod and use it for two years Shakespeare Durango $10 Shimano FX $14 I found a few rods for $30; or less fiberglass stiles of rod. Are they worth the money. That would be a great review on them. Fishing doesn't have to be expensive do do. all the big stores should have a Rod's at $30 or under and what $20 extra will get you the next one. Good show.

      Thanks so much Jason!! Really appreciate the comment and the support!! I 100% agree with you, I always prefer a more moderate action rod and yeah you don't really need to break the bank on a fishing rod in order to catch some fish... Great comment and great points... I'm glad those SHimano's and Shakespeare rods are working out for you... great to hear!!! Thanks again!
