I missed the Bronx. lived there from 2001 to 2003 when I was attending graduate school in NY. I live in the midwest now and I still miss those crazy times.
I have watched this movie in last year, and I forgot to thank you for music in background, from that time I love KrsOne :) Anyway please never delete it! I would love to see that movie again and again in future :) happy new year!
Thanks for that. It looked alot different back in the 70's and 80's, Looks great now, who ever complains now, does not have any idea what it was like .
At 5:21 you see what was the Former New Haven Rail road's Hunts Point Station below the Bridge which the 6 passes over. The old NYW&B RR shared its tracks with the New Haven through here. The NH RR went south to the Hell Gate Bridge and Penn Station. The Freight trains went to Bay Ridge .
nice to see .. used to live in parkchester .. never considered it south bronx, but remember taking the no 6 to work each day .... thanks for sharing :)
That's funny how the music kept me watching this video. You could of done better with the camera shots show inside the train, go across and show the north bound side, focus on other details not just let it sit there staring at the wall for seconds, but it was cool. I appreciate the ride quick ride through the BX. The music and the graf at the end added points to your grade, B -
say what you want but South Bronx is good today , nothing to do like what it was in the past. The Bronxs IS IMPROVING BY HIS OWN PEOPLE, CAUSE NOBODY IN THE GOVERNMENT IS DOING NOTHING FOR IT. Go Bronx You're going' great!!
Mott Haven where the Metro North's three Lines meet. My Parents are from the Bronx Born and Raised. I was born in Manhattan and raised in Yonkers. My Grandparents Lived in Co-op. My Ma's Parents lived off Allerton Ave.
Actually the south bronx is Longwood Ave, Brooke ave, 149 st. & 3 ave and 149 Grand concourse. East Tremont is not the south bronx its soundview. I used to take the 6 to 149 Grand Concourse and then take the 1 to 96th st to go to work
This video wsa not even made in the SOUTH BRONX . It was made in the Bronx east of the bronx river , which is the geographic east bronx, check your map. By the time this film enters the real South Bronx ,is at the near end after it crosses the river.
Its come back and the people are hard working and looking to get ahead in life Many people stay there because their family and traditions are there Don't judge a book by its cover because many great people started there and still are there
It's a nice video. I enjoyed seeing the concrete jungle especially the graffiti. Being from Cleveland (that doesnt have much going on if anything)...you got to be out of your damn mind to pay anything over a 100 bucks a months for a room in that location. Baghdad looks more safer. lol
my first time in NYC i was surprised bronx was like in the middle of the city, then I realized this is nothing as dangerous as what we understand as dangerous in my country
damn those trains are sooooo god damn clean these days.....i do like the last 4-5 seconds though......a reminder that they havnt managed to completely eradicate the art of graffiti.....in the words of 'stay hih 149' it's still the original 'voice of the ghetto'......*still miss those trains though!!!!*
@Phaetheius Then you haven't seen any of those cities and the Bronx in the '70's. Every one of those cities suffered dislocations and blight during that time. Polluted rivers, rising crime and abandoned buildings were the norm. What we went through during that time is what you'll be facing when the austerity policies are implemented in each of those cities.
As ghetto and rundown it may seem, the crimerate is actually very low compared to other large urban areas of the U.S. Another note, the South Bronx we see here is nothing compared to the South Bronx of the 70's and 80's.
South Bronx? The South Bronx starts when you get under ground from Whitlock to Hunts Point and every stop Southbound to 3rd Ave. And South Bronx ain't really that crazy as it was in the 70s. All those dirty buildings are possibly caused by kids that think tagging is cool.
the south bronx may be the poorest community but according to stats, it's crime rate is actually lower than cities like boston, that aren't really known for crime.
I missed the Bronx. lived there from 2001 to 2003 when I was attending graduate school in NY. I live in the midwest now and I still miss those crazy times.
I have watched this movie in last year, and I forgot to thank you for music in background, from that time I love KrsOne :)

happy new year!
theres something so gritty about this sort of urban environment that just fascinates me. Awesome vid!
This video is pretty cool.
Thanks for posting it.
I’m going to New York this year I can’t wait
Thanks for that. It looked alot different back in the 70's and 80's, Looks great now, who ever complains now, does not have any idea what it was like .
Thanks for the post . I have a lot of good memories of the Bronx . 1435 Harrod Bronx River Projects , home of the Zulu nation . Thank you.
very cool video, i like the end where the train is going down and all u can see is the graffiti move by quik, nice touch.

I love how you could c all the graff at the end
That's funny how the music kept me watching this video. @PenkemperK9 just looked it up, they're both similar numbers. the only thing is the bronx is almost twice the size of boston.
Man, after seeing this video I miss Bronx sooo much. I lived in White plains rd. near those stupid homes I don't think they ever completed.
This video wsa not even made in the SOUTH BRONX . It was made in the Bronx east of the bronx river , which is the geographic east bronx, check your map. By the time this film enters the real South Bronx ,is at the near end after it crosses the river.

It's a nice video. I enjoyed seeing the concrete jungle especially the graffiti. Being from Cleveland (that doesnt have much going on if anything)...you got to be out of your damn mind to pay anything over a 100 bucks a months for a room in that location. Baghdad looks more safer. lol

Gothic Cabinet in Parkchester is no longer there....

is the south bronx dangerous? isn't it also the most ghetto new york city has to offer?
This isn't the South Bronx...I'm from Mott Haven Brook ave... Zerega is way uptown on the 6 line.
@Roisia I felt safer in NYC than I do here in my own hometown. NYC rules.
my first time in NYC i was surprised bronx was like in the middle of the city, then I realized this is nothing as dangerous as what we understand as dangerous in my country
