I don’t know if you still have this Mini but I used 2000 grit wet and dry sandpaper on my headlights then polished with a polishing mop. Mine now look like new 👍🏻
Thoroughly recommend auto glym headlight restoration kit. It comes with all of the different grade wet and dry you need plus the attachment for your drill. There is enough compound to 100 plus headlights!
Great vid Kaby! I had a similar experience when I got my F10 530i a couple of years ago, you find these minor issues on most older cars. For the headlights and windows, most decent automotive paint workshops should be able to fix that with a buffing machine, some rubbing compound for glass and wax. Gets rid of scratches and residue and will have the glass looking brand new at a fraction of the price. Touching up the boot-lid might be a good idea because rust can get worse.
Had a wiper delete on my mini for the last 3 years never looked back, make sure you clean your rear window and put rain repellant on it, the dash light is a sensor and they are 13 quid ish to replace can do it yourself . A replacement fuel cap is also 20 quid from a local breakers yard. Silicon spray on the window
Looks a nice car mega fun we have the later turbo model I’d replace the boot lid obviously with one the same colour as for the steering noise my g20 330d does the exact same noise when cold but goes away when it warms up !! I love a blast in my mini so all the best with your project enjoy
I have figured the Steeting noise to be coming from the top mounts..... I've had the car in the air and I must say it's quite clean underneath. G20 is a nice car mate.
I guess the noise your G20 makes comes from the brakes when they are on Auto Hold and you turn the steering wheel while stationary. Try to turn auto hold off and check if it does the same. If yes I would service the car. Let me know how it goes. Cheers
You got a great car, I think you are over worrying about small issues. Just enjoy it and keep your money for when things need replacing as they will with a car of that age. Just had our coolant housing changed at it cost £300, as there was coolant leaking over my drive way
Great video. Get a wiper. The rear end gets sooooooo dirty in the rain and the spoiler stops air forcing the water down the screen! My drv window has made that sound for 2 years and still it works. I have to spray a window seal lubricate every 3/4 months
Make sure your cracks are properly fixed. The windshield is unique in curviture and is extremely expensive to replace altogether. You could hear wind coming thru thru the crack at high speeds by high whistling noise perhaps? Get the wiper. The mist is a pain to see thru when it builds up. Address your rust asap. These babies are gonna be classics. You can find your brake pad sensors in your front and rear calipers. Check if they were worn in and never replaced. To get rid of the light just zip tie the sensor out of the way and replace them when you do your next rotor check. My 05 also squeeks during steering as well. When I put it back together at the end of the month I'll let you know what it is. Could just be the rubber boots between the fire wall that's old. And binding. The window needs some adjustments to fix the sound and gears. The 'door brake' on your passenger side needs replacing. You could polish the passenger window or just replace it with the passenger side overhaul. Engine: intake is missing the forced air piping. But could have been deleted. It could have been done to feed air thru the top side vents. Hood scoop mod is important to find a seal to the intercooler. Water can drip into ignition coils and corrode the wires and coil pack. When you take off the wheels let's check your suspension! Currently refreshing mine 🙂 Cheers!
Thank you so much for a full in depth comment..... Steering creak has been investigated and I've found that to be coming from the suspension top mounts. Been driving the car in some rain and yes I did need the rear viper back on. Window creak seems ok when the windows and seaks are wet..... Had the car serviced a week ago by a mini Specialists who also did a full inspection.....its clean underneath.....brake sensors are missing lol hence the brake light. The air feed is missing but the air box had a hole in the back to allow air from the top of the bonnet.....no idea why. Technician rated it 7/10 which is promising for me lol
@@DownShiftThrottle ah those pesky top mounts. They are easy to fix as well as they are cheap. Mine are also blown out but with the full suspension overhaul and new Bc Coilovers it will be a thing of the past. No mushrooming on your strut towers I hope! Both of mine have minor, but uniform mushrooming. Haha. All those speed bumps in California at mid speed must have caught up to me.
@@DownShiftThrottle as for the air box I have heard others do that to feed cold air from the top and not the hot air from the engine bay. But since that pipe is missing maybe the previous owner just wanted it for the intake noise. Must sound nice in cabin!
Hi, I have a R53 Cooper S I’ve had it nearly 4 years. Firstly my window also makes that squeal and it’s nothing to worry about. Mine normally does it when it’s warm. The brake warning light I also had and it was my sensor wire. The steering wheel noise might be your power steering pump or rack.. all the things mentioned I honestly wouldn’t worry about to much. My first Mini wasn’t unfortunately looked after and cost me a small fortune. I got myself another ( nearly 4 years ago and apart from service and maintenance ) the only problem I had was an 02 sensor. I would highly recommend you get the supercharger serviced if you haven’t already. Enjoy the car 🚗
Hi Sarah....many thanks for your comment. The brake light is a sensor most definitely as when I looked under the car all 4 sensors were not plugged in nor do they fit lol. The steering creak actually is the top mount on the suspension......
DownShift Throttle the sensors never seem to fit 🤣 oh ok , at least you now know what the issue is , steering pumps can be quite expensive my last one failed on my old one. It’s a lovely looking Mini ... those wheels really make it stand out too. Mines Hyper blue 😊
I have the same window squick noise, happens only when it is hot outside
I think mini windscreens are particularly vulnerable to stone chips and damage, because they’re almost vertical.
Definitely. The amount of stones I've heard off it
I don’t know if you still have this Mini but I used 2000 grit wet and dry sandpaper on my headlights then polished with a polishing mop. Mine now look like new 👍🏻
Thank you. I sold the mini a while ago but it's good to know your technique for my other cars. Thanks!
I'm doing the clutch right now, such a huge job, bloody nightmare, if a garage did this expect to pay near 2k in labour and parts.
To be honest it's one of those jobs....not worth paying out for if you can do yourself.....
5:53 The rusty spot on the boot handle is caused either by a worn gasket behind the handle or leaking rear wiper tubing. It will bloom.
That exhaust sounds mint, any idea what it is?
It's just a cat back exhaust. I think it was a custom exhaust

Thanks mate....I used a t-cut one which cleared it up by about 70%.....I definitely needs a "cut through"
Door stops are a common issue. Had to do both on mine. Easy job but it’s a doorcard off job. Sort your window out whilst it’s off 👍
Thanks for the heads up. All these little things that need sorting!
I have the same issue, are door stops like universal thing or should I look for an exact, I am new in self repairing.
I had mine done myself. Just buy them off Ebay for your model and it's pretty easy to do!

I really want a mini r53.. what are they like for parts?? Plus I'm 6ft 3 would i have problems
You'll be fine. It's like a tardis lol. Great run about

Ah thank you. I guess I'm just thinking about the finer details lol. Not used to having an old car however so far touch wood its proven reliable

Yeah, rear wiper is essential on the R53 everything sprays up on rear window.
You really need the rear wiper. I cannot imagine driving my car here in Seattle.

You need to remove the door panel and put some lubricant on the window rail. My car made the same window noise in summer.
Great to know....I'll be on that as soon ad I can
My r53 made the same sound when steering a replaced the strut top hats and it fixed it
Yes I feel the noise is coming from the same area thank you for confirming
90 miles from half a tank?
My windows do the same noise boss
Awesome video! Keep it up man 😁We got an R56 cooper s on our channel its call QuickshiftRSA if you want to check it out! 😁😁😁

Absolutely right about the wheels it's the first thing that people compliment lol
