Thank you great lesson as always. One consideration for your lessons. If you start off by playing the intended, lick full speed, and then break it down.
Awesome lesson man! Can't wait to dig into this stuff. Also, the presence of both a Brazilian accent and a Tennessee accent in your speech is kind of blowing my mind...but in a good way!
I love listening to your music and to have you break it down, I may be able to play someday when my shoulder heals. Hope to see you perform again sometime soon other than at my daughter's wedding.
Eu tenho um padrão próprio de hybrid picking pra tocar minhas pentas no estilo old school rock, mas vou entrar de cabeça nessas técnicas para aprender a tocar fraseado country. Show de bola!
These are really good lessons. I would give a tip to you to always play the lick you're teaching before going over it. Helps to hear it first. I just rewind.
Great video, I have been looking at this and other videos for a while. Good instruction and great exercises. Could you talk about how to practice these to get faster? I seem to have hit a wall and I can't seem to get any faster. thanks for all the videos.
Thanks for watching! Getting faster is about doing the movement correctly and repeating it thousands of times. You repeat it until it feels natural and easy, then you speed up a bit… It’s a skill that really takes time to develop, but you have to trust the process and keep pushing yourself.

I am new to country playing so bear with me. On the first bar of the first lick, and of course each bar after, when you hammer from D-E you release that E on the B string before plucking the E string instead of letting it ring in unison. Is that staccato note key to it sounding country?
I’m 36 played ryrhm since 14 off and on trying to learn lead now went out bit the bullet got a strat having trouble learning the scales anyone have any advice plz share open to anything
If you have a looper or recorder record a 1 ,4, 5, E, A, B progression jam you like, example folsom prison blues and start playing the E minor pentatonic scale against your loop/record then switch to the E Major pentatonic to hear the minor/major flavor.
Excellent lesson! I wonder if get this up to speed (pick and fingers), will my fingers work only for this pattern or it will be easy to learn something new in this technic? Thanks again.
Thanks! You sound great bro! I’ve been a Chicago Blues player most of my life. Use to play at blues and boogie a lot. I played in country bands when I was very young always loved sounding like a steel but never dove into this style much! Thanks for the great vids! God Bless!
@@paulgordo7505 you’re welcome! My nails are also not very long. Just enough to barely touch the string with a little bit of flesh too. Kinda like Albert Lee and Guthrie Trapp I think.
@Matheus Canteri thanks for the additional info, I am left-handed but play right handed so is more difficult for hyperpicking. I've been playing for 40 + years, so I'm kind of used to it, though!

What gauge strings are best for this style?
I use 9s and I know several other players that use that gauge too. I’d say 9s or 10s, whatever feels better.

Have a problem with fake nails, just from playing.the real nails start pulling away from the fingers, causing nail bruising! Usimg.very light strings!
I use 9s and natural nails. I don’t play very hard too, so that probably helps.
