A lot of people tend to Sansa bash in fanfiction, when they talk about the early episodes of GoT. But they always forget that she was sheltered and raised in the medieval times when that's how women were supposed to act.
Arya was an anomaly for being a tomboy, remember that.
Being as it is, we should be more shocked on how Sansa, being raised to be meek and submissive, still had the inner fire and iron will to stand against the odds and win.

Sansa has come along well since season one, with what kings landing, the lannisters and Baelish had taught her she could have very well become one of the most compelling characters. And this is coming from a Lannister fan.

Yeah, everyone really shits on her. But she was literally a child in the first season who was taught by her naive/loyal/honour bound parents. As she said in the show "I may be a slow learner, but I learn.
