the thing that strikes me about guys like pettit and schayes is how fluid they were for their size. Even stretch bigs today (guys like Sabonis and Jokic) dont move like they did.
Dolph Schayes defines humility, intelligence, athletic ability and accomplishment. Watching and listening to this fantastic UA-cam piece you get to see simply what a great person is. I didn't realize he played against Russell and so many great 60`s players. There is so much I learned form this wonderful video. Thanks!! Thanks!! Thanks!!
@@davanmani556 a couple of times. Davan isn`t it amazing the evolution of the game? Bigger, faster, stronger. Each generation is filled with greatness.
@@davanmani556 I do not remember seeing him play but I think I did. Incredible how the game evolved. Really how the players evolved. Bigger, faster, stronger each year. Wonderful to watch.
Bob Davies with a nice fancy running jumper @9:48 even though it didn't go in lol, he was trying to bank that in.. never saw that footage before of him. He did a bunch of running shots like Schayes did. These types of shots were popular with players who started in the mid to late 40's. Also @19:09 Joe Fulks play I've never seen before either, he does his signature shot but this time as a running driving play sorta like a running hook! I've only ever seen him do that shot as a turn around jumper.
I started watching NBA games and alot of them in 1969... but I missed his career.. .. in 2006 red auerbach picked him on his all-time greatest player list
RIP Dolph. He was a lovely man, a hell of a player, a great Dad and mentor.
Respect to the OGs, underrated legend Dolph Schayes 🏆

True
Agreed. It took me awhile to figure out who Bob pettit was but I was blown away by him when I first saw him. He's on the level just under wilt

Same average height in the NBA since the 1980s.
Ok. It’s cool but you ain’t have to get on your knees like that

The shot clock saved the NBA

Do you have any documentary/footage focused on Cliff Hagan? He's the most underrated star of the 1950s and 1960s in my opinion.
Richie Guerin and Willie Naulls too
Yeah he was a really good player
appreciate these videos my man

Such a legend he essentially jus wanted to shoot
Saw him in Bruggers Bagals about a year before he died.
10:30 goodness that pass was nice. :D
Former BUFFALO BRAVES NBA Coach!!
Red Auerbach had dolph scahayes ranked number 18 all time of greatest players ever
wait lol, I guess he was a bad coach because when Alex Hannum became coach for the 76ers they won a ring.
