For all those who say he hasn't done anything , Melo won a state championship as a freshman in high school, at 15 he had NBA players coming to his AAU games, all while maintaining a 4.0 GPA and now he has his own shoes. Lamelo is an inspiration to children and Young athletes players all over the world. This young man is already a star and if you look at his game you can see that he's putting in extra extra work. I think this is great for basketball and it will be great if the NCAA changes the rules on this matter because they do put a good product on the floor. It would be great For all the fans to have Melo in college playing at UCLA.

Ocean of the ocean of the ocean Prempeh If u think lamelo doesnt need college ur dumb.😂😂 lamelo needs to change his WHOLE playstyle. He takes shots from 35+ feet and misses more than half.Im not saying that the NCAA isnt hypocritical because they are but lamelo isnt good enough to skip college and be succesful in the NBA.He needs discipline and raise his basketball IQ

Mamba Mentality with a RTIQ-Room Temperature IQ. Melo is already ranked number 7 (second pg), right behind Greg Anthony's son, who is also a pg, at number 6, in ESPN'S TOP60 for 2019.
Oh, and should you look at the individuals drafted recently, HOW MANY WERE DRAFTED BECAUSE THEY WERE KILLERS ON DEFENSE?
Oh, and this kid just turned 16 and is only a junior in HS, you HATERS are all alike, you want to gloss over previous people's deficiencies at the same position, then harp on one or two things.
The kid is 16, a junior in hs, with a 4.0 and rapidly improving.
Let's just see how he does. Oh, and YOU obviously have overlooked the fact that with Lonzo on the LAKERS, Melo could also spend time there playing with his brother and others, AFTERHOURS.
Your condescending, know it chatter, is very revealing and I wouldn't be surprised if you were also down on Lonzo.
Reality will be the final arbitrator!

A.I.T you say that like it's a bad thing. LaMelo doesn't need a scholarship he can pay for one year of college and it's obvious college doesn't refine these players into NBA level talent
Michael Porter Jr is already the consensus number one pick for next year's draft and has yet to play a game in college. Markelle Fultz and Ben Simmons were consensus picks and neither of them did shit for their school and still came out unscathed. Meanwhile SAS was talking the most shit about Porzingis when he was drafted and admitted he never watched one game of his.
I understand the NCAA has rules on students on scholarships getting money. You don't want someone buying 50K worth of BBB shoes to get Melo to throw a game while you paying for his stay there. But God knows it's about time dudes get out of their mentality thinking college is the only way to the big leagues. Let them make their money and let the NCAA go back to making actual NBA ready players instead of prospering off of prospects

I did an internship with the NCAA in law school. Worst decision ever....I hate the institution. Smith is right. Ball is, without question, eligible as long as UCLA pulls their scholarship offer and Ball pays tuition. I know the NCAA will do everything in their power to get Ball out of college b-ball, especially if he's good. Any promotion of "BBB" and they'll boot him. The NCAA can't control a kid's money relationship with their parents (see J. Manziel's riches) unless it's an obvious sham. Considering LaMelo's brothers' and father's fame and money, it's going to be hard for the kid to stay eligible for a lot of reasons. I'm NOT a Ball fan but I do like that they're basically ignoring the NCAA. This will turn into a huge lawsuit that, hopefully, will help all NCAA athletes.

what matters most to me is that melo is set up for adult success without having to depend on his family. At 16, he shouldn't even have to be put in this situation. Education has to come first in this. Melo's future has to be put as the priority and at 16 he cant make those decisions himself so between Lavar and the NCAA, they need toi stop being monetarily selfish and realize he is a child who wants a future. I know that is basically wind to their ears, but let's not make melo another statistic because of greed from adults.

He should be able to play, just don't allow him to wear his shoes in a game. OR the NCAA should partner with him and make a NCAA version of the shoe and profit with him.

who knows all rules have to broken at some point maybe Lamelo lives UP to the hype and Is so heavily recruited that they change the rule we seen familiar things in history if that happens 20 years from Now people will look at the Balls as trend setters they already did something never done by lonzo having his own shoe either way he can still play over Seas for a Year you don't have to go to College

Even lonzo said lamelo has the most talent out of all 3 of them for that very reason. Lol some of yall basketball fans need to watch golf or something stay in yalls lane

NCAA prevents athletes from making money while being a college athlete in theory because the student would be profiting off of the school and the schools and NCAA don't like that. However, what could be the possible excuse for this seeing as how this kid has gained all of his popularity outside of a college so you can't even claim he is using the school for profit.

A football player can keep his eligibility and sign to a baseball team with a contract, but can not have his own business and profit on himself. I wish someone would challenge this bullshit in court.

People need to start playing overseas. The NCAA only wins if they're the only avenue to the NBA. The Ball brothers already have money on the table but the young men who don't have those opportunities are screwed in this greedy system.

Simple solution to this problem for the NCAA.
You wanna make money? Cool!!! Pay for your own college education. No athletic scholarship!!!!! Make it easier for those athletes who don't have a potential stream of income like Lamelo. Remember, he is the exception.
