Yes, absolutely! Just make sure to let them cool a bit then a light, gentle kiss in the flame to get them to strike. Takes some practice but is definitely doable! 😁
I would start off with the Fireworks Beginner Beadmaking Kit. You can buy it at Hobby Lobby or Amazon. It's a Hothead Torch setup which is easiest. I would also suggest you join the Hothead Lampwork group on Facebook. Lots of good people with really good advice.
Hello, When it comes to the reds, yellows and orange transparents, Effetre only has them in striking glass. I think Lauscha sells a red transparent that doesn't strike but I'm not sure. It's just a characteristic of the transparent glass. THank you for your question and welcome to lampwork!
@@LepoppetGlassBeads Thank you so much for your reply. And it was so speedy. Really useful. I do a number of crafts but I have set up a flame work shack last year and will do my last Needle felting workshop in November so I'm heading to the shack then and probably won't emerge till March!!! Ha,Ha. Thanks. XXB

Thanks for another easy to follow tutorial!
I really like that Effetre orange, it works great in dot stacks and it strikes easily. These will strike in the kiln too.
Dang! I totally forgot about the kiln! Thanks Jasmine2501 for that tidbit!
Awesome! Thank you
Thank you for sharing! Can you use them as stringers as well is the principle the same?

I guess this isn’t a technique question... what would you recommend as a affordable beginning torch?

I have the hothead. And 10 pounds of really crappy Flagg from Devardi.
Can you tell me why you would use a sriker glass . Why not just use the colour it turns to. Is there something else? I am a novice!!!XXB
