As a Sooner fan I regret a few things we needed to stand up to the Longhorn network, we needed to stand up to the big12 commisioner who was never forward thinking late 2000 when there was talk ofd Fsu entertaining a move to the big 12 we whould have been far more proactive becuase as we see you snooz you loose. There are many oppertunities missed becuase of poor leadership in the big 12. Now as for the sec being the best throughout, that is not true. 70s was Oklahoma and Alabama but really no one else in the sec while the big 8 had Nebraska Missouri a surging colorado. and the swc had Texas. 80s was Miami fla, Nebraska, Oklahoma and colorado, while Ga. and auburn were the pride. 90s was Nebraska, Colorado, and a surging Bill Snyder and k state, Florida had one good year Michigan got a share of a nattie but Nebraska would have destroyed the wolverines in head to head. Miami was still tough and Florida state was climbing after Bowdens thrid decade away from w. va. 2000 early 2000 was Oklahoma yes we had some oopses with k state then lsu but look back on that sugar bowl all C. Long had to do was keep running Keyjuan Jones we would have won with td and ovt or a 2 pt. Lsu used 3 big plays leaving the lsu defense on the field and the linemen could barely stand up. they were gassed but long threw 4 straight passes at the 16 yard line when Jones was averaging at that point around 6 to 7 yards a pop. the 2000 s were the ascension of the sec the 2010s was owned by the sec but they have not been that dominate throughout history. As a sooner fan I am glad to be away from 11 am kickoffs they hurt recruiting and they hurt revenue. It is ridiculous mas a time slot. hopefully they will fix that going forward. I dont see Kansas remaining in the big 12 see them as a big 10 school especially in basketball.

Texas has the most national titles than anyone else in this God forsaken conference, and it's not even close. They have just as many in football as OU has since this conference inception.
You farmers should be grateful they even stayed in the Big12 as long as it did. They gave you credibility on a national stage, and
bore most of the responsibilities for its shortcomings as a whole, along with OU.

So every program has to earn their right to be accepted into a conference? That's a take I guess😅 I'd be interested to know which program the channel host favors and what they did to deserve to be in the Big12..along with Cincy, Houston, BYU, UCF, Arizona etc. The simple fact of the matter is this: Texas is an iconic brand, considered a blueblood in football and all that, hate or love it, can't be denied.
The host also seems to be unaware the SEC tried to grab Texas when the SWC was ending, and then again after Colorado and Nebraska left the Big 12, but they ended up with A&M instead which at least served the purpose of opening up Texas to recruiting than ever before. The sole reason Texas didn't go to the SEC when aggy did (or the PAC) is because of the Longhorn network. We didn't want to give it up (your school wouldn't either if you knew how much ESPN was paying each year) and the PAC and SEC rightfully didn't want a single school with their own network, but the Big12 didn't have much choice but to go along. You can blame Texas for being arrogant all you want, but NO school in the country would say no to what ESPN was offering, and anyone who thinks differently is kidding themselves. Of course the one school network was a failed experiment as far as ESPN making money (we got it all) and it probably hurt football more than helped (early on practices were filmed for opposing coaches to see) but it did work wonders for our women's and non-revenue sports which is evident in number of times we've won the athletic directors cup or had a top 5 finish. (Number of national championships among all sports)
I didn't write any of this to stave off hate coming our way, that would be futile. Only just correcting some misconceptions. Besides, isn't it better to be hated than forgotten? I'm sure many Big 12 programs would rather have the former.😉

With the exception of Mizzou, (who had 2 good years with former Big12 players...and then last season, after a decade of misery) every single team that has left the Big12 has been complete garbage since they left. Same thing will happen to Texas and OU. (Texas has pretty much been irrelevant since 2009, until last season too) Other than USC and Washington, the PAC 12 teams were never anything to begin with.
