Way too many people bash this song because Kurt wasn't crazy about it. It is obviously incredible. Literally everything about it is recognizable by itself. The guitar intro, the drum beat throughout the song, and the bass line in the verses are unmistakable. Sounds like they did a good job in songwriting to me...Kurt would've wanted us to enjoy the music he wrote not analyze it's role in popular culture.

Kids, listen. This band was absolutely the best of all time. Listen to all their records. I'm serious. I can't find one of their songs that isn't full force beautiful. Yes, they had a short span. But got cut off. Life isn't permanent. Simple. Heavy base. Manic drums. Perfect rhythm section for lyrically talented singer who could pay a great punk guitar.

For me, watching this live is relaxing. The perspectives they used with the cameras to record it is like being on the same stage, leaving all the audience aside and focusing on Nirvana, it's as if they were dedicating the concert to me alone. The image quality for being from the 90s is incredible. not to mention the lighting, simple but very effective. Few groups have come to use so few colors in spotlights, white light gives that feeling of closeness of the band with oneself.
That guitar solo... is amazing.

2 facts about nirvana: 1) smells like teen spirit was written when kurt fell asleep in an alley and somebody spray painted over his his "kurt smells like teen spirit". teen spirit was a perfume (i dunno if it still is). this song was written in a short amount of time, so the lyrics aren't that meaningful. kurt then hated playing the song after it became popular, and often fucked it up purposefully when playing it live. 2) the lead singer of the foo fighters once shaved his beard and grew out his hair so he could look like the drummer of nirvana
