Can we take a minute to appreciate how fucking good this recording looks like for a 1991 recording
They used movie grade cameras to record this concert.
jordan williams nice
+jordan williams they used soundboard for audio. What are you talking about?
no the camera quality, not the sound quality
yeah it's pretty amazing lol
Kurt was wearing a sweater, Krist a T-shirt and Dave nothing.. WILL WE EVER KNOW THE TEMPERATURE OF THAT ROOM?!
I believe it was hot. Kurt just always wore long sleeves because he felt insecure about being skinny
+Orange Juice W/ No Pulp i do the same lol
+Teleskop Yeah I do too sometimes
+Orange Juice W/ No Pulp Maybe he wanted to hide wounds after injections of heroine :/
+Matidexter you are right most of the time he was high off his ass
Still blows my mind how just three people made such an explosive sound
hehe blows my mind guess not just yours
treepeople?
Just wait till you hear rush.
1:09 Kurt’s reaction to the crowd cheering to what he just said is classic.
Edit: holy crap that’s a lot of internet validation 🫶🏻
His face just screams "why the fuck are yall cheering"
he looks like hes about to cry
"wtf? oh, who rape"
Kurt perpetuating dangerous illusion that rapists look like rapists and stigmatising working class in the process. epic/..!
As a hairy red neck fan I’m a little butthurt myself
Guys with the lights job interview: "Can you move around, while wearing a mask, and basically look like a kinky sex slave? Yes? You're hired."
my thoughts exactly
pretty sure I seen boobs on those things
Nevermind notice how ‘ironic’ this is that Nirvana only had the ‘kinky sex slaves” for this song

That was a great solo actually. I loved it. Kurt proved that you don't need to play thousand notes per second to make a great solo. He is really underrated as a guitarist.
Kurt was all feel when it came to music. And it definitely shows
Оценивают дибилоиды,Курт великий,таких больше не будет никогда.как бы они все из жопы не лезлю,так за ним скучаю😢
Kurt Cobain is beast on Guitar equivalent to eddie van halen or anyone because kurt didn't follow anyone when it comes to guitar he uses his own technicals, only jimi hendrix is ahead on guitar😀
After jimi Hendrix there is kurt Cobain 😀

We really could use a voice like Kurt in music in 2023. God bless you man. Too kind for a hate filled world. Thank you for the gifts you left us.
I'm happy people still remember him. It makes me happy whenever i revisit a video like this and see people still commenting.
you wont be able to, the air is too much different. as is the dialect and the accent. way of speaking mindset culture and many other factors.
Nirvanas awesome 👏
All someone has to do is have natural talent, have his life be ruined by cigarettes and heroin and wrong singing technique. At the bare minimum, he will get called a poor imitation of Kurt. Truly, no one will ever be like him.
He's brilliant as are Nirvana. We could do with them right now.
these dudes in body suits dancing around with the spotlights are just gold and pure Nirvana. Simplicity but GOLD, can be said about Kurt Cobain in so many ways!

I love Kurt's solo. They should have kept it on the In Utero album.
+Christian Grimes they really wanted to make that album sound like music they listen to, so I guess that didn't fit, maybe it's too much bullocks
he forgot the words and improvised simple as that
stinking polecat actually the bridge for the song wasn't written yet so he put a solo in it's place
I prefer the solo over the verse 🔥🔥
M3gat7on mostly just an a major chord which he bends then he runs it up the pentatonic
The bass tone is to die for !!!

What about MTV Unplugged in New York
Unplugged was epic as well. I remember being so nervous before Unplugged aired. I wasn't sure how Nirvana's music would sound acoustic. I think Kurt wanted to prove he was more than just a loud distorted guitar player that screamed and could actually sing. Well he fucking proved it!
man how acoustic music sounds nowdays?
I don't know, their Live N' Loud show (though if I remember right, Cobain hated it) was incredible
this just looks like if nirvana was a new band that came out today.
all footage looked like this then, you know, it's the film tape has deteriorated.
SOUPRUN01 Not even fucking close. This all depended on the quality of film used to record this. In this case, it was 16mm (only used in one other show besides the Paramount!), which is very high quality. Probably the highest-quality film to be used in the recording of any concert at the time!

Антон Романенко Dave's such a great drummer who I never really believe got to show his full potential in Nirvana, I'd go as far to say he's a better drummer than guitarist.
unbelirvabe fill by grohl
Антон Романенко But that guitar solo at 02:44 is just so flawlessly beautiful. If that solo was a piece of art it would be the Cistern Chapel.
Roshan Khan Studio version with that solo and drums... Would be even more beautiful.
Love that bass line !!
The bass is extraordinary, guitar style like never, emotion and voice in the right point. Very good 😮

Lempremon the best
Kurt mentioned in some interviews that he HATES when people scream and clap during a song which has heavy meaning. When they performed Polly for the first several times, people kept on making noise not realising the lyrics itself. So they decided to kind of "rewrite" the song with more literal lyrics, and different tone thus Rape Me was made.
You can see him at 1:18 being surprised from the excitement of the audience even though he highly exaggerated what he is going to sing about, and then at 1:21 he is like "Fuck them I'm just gonna start the song". Well at least that's what I see in his mimic...

One of the best live shows in the history of live performances
The quality of this footage is fucking amazing. Plus, you see all these people in the audience are true Nirvana fans. That's what it meant to be a grunge fan back then, I think. To be actually there and witness this incredible act during its heyday.
Q
Calling it grunge is followed by the thought "why do bands only have a couple songs and why are they called hits"? I bet you burned the best mixed cds. Grunge isn't a genre of music or a Seattle music scene. It's a term created by the mainstream in order to label package and market
"To be a grunge"?? No one was "grunge" back then, my friend. Grunge was never a movement. Some may think it was but it was just the Seattle scene that didn`t follow the mainstream glam metal and power metal thing, so they went back to the 60s psychedelic rock, 70s heavy metal and punk rock music. What we call "grunge" today is basically just alternative rock. We, GenX was fed up with the glam metal bands in the late 80s and embraced Nirvana`s raw, simple and real music. Singing about depression, suicide and social justice, they just ripped a hole in the bubble the music industry had created.
The quick change in 1991, after Nevermind was released just show how tired everyone was with the glammy 80s. But if someone tells you that grunge was a movement, they are lying. It was just a genre, a name coined by a music journalist like most genres have been through modern music history.
Also keep in mind that the grunge genre died off with Kurt. The grunge bands was in fact already seen as has-been`s by 1994 after more techno inspired bands like Prodigy, NIN, Marilyn Manson etc was on full blast, creating what we can call a movement: the rave era, that still is very much alive today, although it has evolved a lot since the techno and rave scene in the 90s. Grunge was pretty much dead by 1995. Kurt and Nirvana would probably move onto something else. Kurt did talk about going solo right before he died.
He was probably seeing what was coming..
Absolutely, true Nirvana fans.
Half of them probably just Teen Spirit fans
That solo at 2:45 sounds so simple yet so badass at the same time.
Kurt Cobain didn’t die a man
He died a legend and will always be a legend
He would probably take serious issue with these statements, and if you respected him you'd listen.
Being a legend is overrated
@The Wendigo I don't want to speak on the behalf of the dead and assume what they would've wanted but um pretty sure Kurt wouldn't have wanted revered as some sort of martyr
