Something more in this performance from him on how he handle a failure. Look back at 7:02 - 7:03 he was attempting to do a "wistle" (usually at octaves range 7 to 8). He failed to do it, nothing comes out.. but look at his maturity of singing by doing a SWEET "escape" in just a "split" second by doing vocal "acrobatic". Such a GENIUS!
One of his best performance of this song was when he sang at Jackie Chan's concert last month. You should see tbe fancam version. They have better audio than the televised one.

Also, Terry Lin, the contestant in the glasses, is over 50 years old, and an icon. He and Dimash are really good friends.
Terry sang this song at a concert, and had Dimash as a special guest. A fantastic performance, Terry is wonderful.

This version is my favourite version of it. There is a specific reason why the Gakku one is fantastic (fellow commenters please don't spoil by telling) but apart from that I love this version as it is beautiful and visually extremely appealing with that wonderful orange lighting.

Gloria Wu, and many Dimash fan sites online leave out the fact that although Dimash wrote the music, he didn't write the lyrics. They were written by the poet/lyricist father of a childhood friend of Dimash - Oral Baisengir, who also wrote the lyrics to "My Swan", which Dimash also sings. There is a Facebook account of Dimash going over to his house with the music, in order to have Baisengir compose lyrics for it.

When you’re done with the singer performances Unforgettable Day at Gakku is a must. He commands that stage and is just amazing, he interacts with his fans and also vocally its a statement performance you cannot miss. When you do Confessa+The Diva Dance from Singer you can also react to the diva dance at Bastau in same video because everyone will request for you to react to it anyways. The tone of his voice on Confessa plus that he sings in Italian just melts me, one of my favorites. Oh and the drama of it all 😩😩❤️

By the way, I find it difficult to pronounce Myenyedzjyer Zjivaya raduga (pardon, this is my own way of trying to write the cyrillic in English lettering the way I see it) because of all the "ye". Russian is hard 😮

By the way, if you do watch or react to Unforgettable Day Gakku to hear the D8 he tried to do on Singer you will notice that because of so many reactors saying they thought he was lip syncing he started waving the microphone from side to side to prove that he was singing live. He does that with no sound at Gakku right before the D8 comes out.

In 2016 Dimash headlined a 25 city tour in Kazkahstan and a couple of neighbouring countries called Unforgettable Tour, so he sang it at least 25 times. He also sang it many times in China before developing his own Chinese repertoire, which I believe at this time it is 20 songs in Mandarin.(2 of them have English parts.) It is always fun to see Chinese dears sing along with him in Kazakh.

Andy, I don't know if you saw it but almost at the end he held the mic with his left hand to his mouth & his right hand by his ear & nothing came out. It is because he tried but failed to do what he did in Unforgettable Day Gakku which was a D8 with vibrato for 5 seconds. It is also almost at the end when he is on his knees. Next on Singer is Confessa+Diva Dance. Confessa he does the 1st verse in Mandarin for the audience then switches to Italian & when he finishes he stands up to do Diva Dance which is from the movie The Fifth Element where a blue female alien sings which is a female singer plus a synthesizer as they didn't think a human could sing all of it but Dimash does.
Dont spoil the note! That's the whole purpose of a reaction, not to know what's coming!!!
@@fmichaels5897 That is what I tried to do before he reacted to what he did by just asking him to also react to Gakku but it wasn't enough to get him to do it so that is why I wanted to give him more of a reason to hear it.
Thanks so much for your comment and background information. No worries about the note. Several had mentioned it to me a couple of weeks ago. I wonder if the situation you're talking about (his hand on his face) was due to the vocal issues he had the week prior. Interesting!
@@MasterofVoice No, he had recovered from the previous week. You have to watch close during Singer to see the part I am talking about. Mic in left hand & right hand close to his ear but no sound comes out because he was trying for the whistle note but it didn't work. At Gakku it did work.
I hadn't realised the vocals were different for the first part of the Gloria Wu vid til now. Definitely a great way of being able to see both without losing out on either aspect. Another great video thank you.
Maybe when he does stuff that is a little bit beyond or is maybe specifically difficult could you explain either what makes it difficult or how you teach your students or issues they have had with learning/performing that specific singing element? Just an idea that popped into my head after you said about the breath control and shifting note. Have a lovely day!

7:04 dont know dears mentioned it ..but dimash went for his signature D8 whistle of this song n when he was unable to get himself to that whistle he quickly showed hand movement n shifted to that run!!
I'm thinking his vocal health issues from the week prior may have affected him a bit in that section. Thanks for the post!

First of all, there is no Dimash episode 11. He got a bye, and didn't have to sing that episode. Second - what a lot of people do is to combine "Confessa and The Diva Dance" from episode 12 of the Singer with the "Diva Dance" from the Bastau concert. The "Diva Dance" is the song the blue alien sings in the movie The Fifth Element. It is very short, and that's why they combined it with another song (worth seeing) on the Singer. Maybe Dimash still wasn't feeling 100% vocally, because he left out the most difficult part in the Singer version, but he sang it in the Bastau performance. Combining the performances saves you having to wait for the better version. This is one episode where I don't recommend using Gloria Wu's version. She has a version where she replaced parts of his performance with clips from movies she thought fit the story. Even if they did, I'd rather watch him sing - especially if it's the first experience of the song. The competitor with the glasses is Terry Lin who has sung this song with Dimash, most recently at a concert put on by Jackie Chan.(I think I gave you some backstage footage of them before).

Is there a particular reason he couldn't do the G6? Was it a technical issue where he would have blown out the mic or speakers? I've never seen anyone explain why he couldn't do the usual note or even how he knew, so I'm curious...
@@youlleatamuffinandlikeit4596 I don't really know, but you see him try to start it, he has the position for it, he then does a slight head movement and continues with the other notes. I think he just knew he wouldn't be able to hit it! Maybe his throat was tired. Because it was definitely a last minute decision and not a planned one
@@youlleatamuffinandlikeit4596 his throat still hadn't recovered from being sick in episode 7. He was trying to hit G7 here, not G6. But it didn't come out so he went for another whistle instead. I actually think the whistles he did here fit better with the song. That's why this one is my favourite unforgettable day version.
In Gakku performance, he was going for G7 too but got to D8 instead.
Whistles are hard to control even mariah carey said she didnt know whether her whistles would come out or not.

He wanted to go all out, but realized that the equipment couldn't handle it very well. But I suppose that could just be an urban legend.
@@youlleatamuffinandlikeit4596 He usually goes for a G7 wistle at that part of the song. I don't think it was a technical issue, going for this high notes while singing live is very risky. Sometimes his whistle just doesn't come out. (In this performance you can still (sort of) hear it, it's just too quite to be noticed over the music) The same thing happened to him in the Gakku performance, he went for the G7 and it didn't came out, than he whent even higer and naild it because, well... He is Dimash!
In many performances of this song he doesn't go for the whistle at all, he doesn't really need it for the song to be impressive, but once in a while he goes for it and shocks us all :)

Thank you very much for your reaction. When Dimash was in Singer he made a friendship with another contestant Terry Lin from China. He calls him "Papa". This is the performance from July this year when he was invited to perform ot "Opening ceremony of the 5th Int'l Jackie Chan Action Movie Week". He is a fan of Jackie Chan from his chilhood. He performed Unforgettable Day together with Terry Lin. First time they sang together last year in July when Terry Lin celebrate his birthday and Dimash was his guest. They both sang in Mandarin languge. There were some delay in flight but he came to performance anyway and almost directly from the airport. This was live performance and you will be able to hear when he had some problems with high notes. It was so sweet to see him sing even because he was tired but he didn't want to disapoint Terry.
