From an orthopaedic perspective, 5 years of those jump splits cause ongoing health and bone issues. Once a joint is replaced it usually needs replacement every 10-15 years so a early 20s cheerleader is looking at between 2 and 5 further surgeries.
Are the jump splits really bad for your body? My daughter just made her high school drill team and she has to do jump splits.
Not sure where you got your information but there isn’t retirement rule.
FYI: Sydney Durso cheered for 7 seasons as a DCC.
Definitely not sustainable - the financial, physical and travelling tolls private time, relationships and career. Since they’re not being paid much, they have to work fulltime jobs and DCC is a commitment on the side. As someone who has had to travel more than 50% of my time for my job, I couldn’t keep up being successful in my career that pays the bills while working another part time job that takes a huge physical and travel toll as well. There has to be work-life balance.
