  • At shows we get asked what we do with logs that don't fit in the machine. The simple answer is we don't put them in the machine. The fun answer is what we do with them instead.

As a hobby sawyer myself, I pulled my hair out looking at you not rotating the log 180 degrees and just reposition it on the bench. Sooo mutch simpler.

Yeah we are still learning with it. I’m planning on doing exactly that, but it was more effort than I wanted to do by hand and there was a truck and trailer blocking me from bringing it around and loading it on the other side with the Bob Cat. This next week when we move the truck, then I can move it around without any issue.

7:15 - the band roll on the left side isnt rolling. This causes problems with the straightness of the cut. Have you had this problem often?

We haven't used the mill much recently, but we did realize our tension on the blade was off and that was causing various issues. We are hoping to do more with the mill in the future.

What was that barrel shaped building in the background of this video? Sauna?

Yup! Big barrel sauna, firewood processors aren’t the only thing we love about Finland.

Wouldn't you just flip the log over flat side down and finish milling that way?

Yes but it’s harder to flip with the curve. Also, flipping it would cause the curve to go between the supports so we would also need to rotate the log 180 degrees.
