Dr. Sibicky, would you please do an intro to Ko lecture? I'm confused about some of the basic aspects of Ko strategy. When should I start a Ko? Can starting a second ko of a different value be a valid ko threat? How does one gauge a ko threat in the opening versus middlegame versus endgame? etc.
Nice video, as usual :) Though your short excursion into the outside-attachment,corner attachment variation was unfortunate and confusing to the watchers I'm sure. The condition for that whole variation is a ladder variation, which, if it works for black, means the corner attachment cannot be played. (Was comparing what I know of this, your video, and a professional analysis of that variation). Of course that was only a very short "branching" off the main line for you... But still, I hate seeing people getting confused like that :P Very good presentation overall :)
well there are always cases where some moves are good to play as ko threat i once played a move which allowed my opponent to catch a rly big groub which survived in his groub in seki and i mean like atleast 20 stones it was a bit massed up but still worth playing to win the ko which was worth much much more but playing a ko threat as ko threat :-/ this is like saying ok here is one thing and the other ko is the other now you have to decide which is bigger and he takes the bigger or ties to
